Matsui was the ultimate professional. He didn't just hit home runs. He let the pitch dictate what he did. OK, a home run is great, but if the pitch is down, hit it in the gap. And when the stakes were the highest, he played his best. That's all you can ask from a player. He did what needed to be done, and he didn't cower under pressure when his moment came. He was a warrior.

Unfortunately in Japan baseball players have to play in Japan for 9 years before they can post and sign with MLB team. The Japanese players usually enter MLB by their mid 20s instead of joining MLB in their late teens or early 20s. Ichiro, Matsui and even Shohei Ohtani would have already thrived if they did joined MLB in their teens and early 20s.
The fact that I traded immediately even after doing such a great thing shows the coldness or magic of the major leagues. It's a collection of people with truly tremendous physical abilities.
I told my dad before game 6 no worries because Matsui would be back in the starting lineup. Also that base hit on that 0-2 pitch off Pedro was ridiculous. He was going to rake no matter where the ball was in this series. Go go Godzilla.
This Yankees team can hit 1-8. The only weakness was either swisher/gardner. It’s a shame we didn’t run it back. Chose swisher, Gardner, Granderson, and Johnson over one additional year of Matsui, Damon…… Now we can only got one actual hitter who might not even come back………
