  • When you go to sell your home, you obviously want the most money. So you may be thinking of what can you do to your house to upgrade it right before you put it on the market.
You want to be smart in your upgrades and get the most bang for your buck.
The mistake I see people doing is either cheap “upgrades” ,and I say that in quotes because they are obviously cheap, to give the house a face lift but it looks terrible or expensive upgrades right before selling which will usually not get you back your money. If you are going to completely redo your kitchen and bathrooms for example, do it way before you put your house on the market so you can at least enjoy it.

I recently installed a full scale working replica of a Roman Empire-style gladiatorial arena, Caryn. Will this help or hurt the potential resale value?
Thanks for showing the room colors. Revere Pewter is just what I'm looking for! I'm not good with colors, so I rely on the nice young lady at the Sherwin Williams store to help me.
I agree 100% with all of your tips. I'm dismayed at how little effort some sellers put forward in presenting a house that's clean and freshly painted. Refinished hardwood floors will not only return its investment but sell the house faster. I had a choice between two houses with hardwood floors and the deciding factor was that the owners had refinished the floors just a couple of years prior. That house just shone with care.
