I been watching you guys for years. Another great video! This is the video I'm going to share when people coming to me about mobile connectivity. Just very well done. You guys continue to rock!
Hi there, thanks very much for your informative video. My employer uses Cisco VPN which usually blocks all other VPNs. Since a portable hotspot is essentially a private network as well, would they be compatible with Cisco ? Thanks
Great video. I need VPN for email and cellular for phone/text along with my daughter that needs internet for distance learning. Will be staying on west coast beach areas and some mountain areas in summer. Thinking netgear mimo plus weBoost might be best. I have Verizon and wife and daughter have T-Mobile. Is this a good start? I will be doing a few feet runs while I am on vacation. Thanks
How did the test runs go? We are gearing up to do the same with our family. T-mobile doesn’t seem to be as good on the west coast as the east coast. How is it working for you?
I live about a hr away from city , my phone gets internet , but internet company's say no signal out here . Some times we take a month to go and travel 2 or 3 or 4 x a year but work remotely . People call I fill out quick form and send there order 24 /7 online I can work any time I plan on at least 8 maybe 10 hrs inbound . They only require I have high speed internet Plug in to laptop. How do i get set up?
Thank you for being upfront about there not being “one simple solution for everything”. That’s honest and i watched the entire video afterwards. Great information, thank you! P.s. great beard!
Hi Chris and Cherie! Chris held up a router during the video while explaining different options. If my employer requires a hard wired connection to operator data bases with, is that something that would work? I just wanna know if it’s at all possible? Due to WiFi’s unreliability for databases that require constant connection; they require you to be hooked up to the modem at all times. How can I make this happen? I just watched another of your videos that was a little older and I think that answer my question. There is a dual modem router connection that you set up with the four or five antennas for satellite I think that may work; I’m gonna continue to watch the video. You guys are awesome!
Totally depends on what your employer requires... just eliminating Wi-Fi on your LAN, or all wireless WAN connections including cellular/satellite? More resources for remote work: www.rvmobileinternet.com/working-remotely
I just wanted to say that I'm glad you put this together. I've been following you guys a long time and your videos really help keep me connected for my remote IT job. I understand networks and how LTE works, so something 101 like this isn't something super useful for me, but your information has helped me find the best deals (had never heard of Calyx before, for example, before you guys made a video talking about it) and great solutions from people with boots on the ground. So thank you!
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter Oh absolutely. Wasn't meant as criticism. I appreciate that you do 101 videos and I sent this to some full time RVing friends who are looking for options.
We are focused on mobile internet options, and phone calls really fall a bit outside of that. But cellular boosters can help, as can Wi-Fi calling to a reliable internet source. More on boosters: www.rvmobileinternet.com/boosters
I have a 5G Inseego hotspot and I live in a remote place. And I was wondering if my network name does show on my computer will I have to move a spot in my home so I can get a signal
After all these years my computer knowledge is still worthless, I understand a small fraction of what you said here, so help me out with some basics. I'm retired and finishing up building my conversion van to travel full-time. I need internet to deal with income and paying bills. Maybe watch Netflix. I do have a RUclips channel I upload videos on when I've been bike touring or backpacking. My phone is mostly used for GSP and some video recording. I upload all my videos to my computer for editing and then upload to RUclips.
I have a basic question.... I currently live in a 5th wheel that is stationary....I was using metro pcs $60.00 unlimited plan that gave me 15 GB hotspot a month which is definitely enough to play online but it isn't enough to download or update games.....I only need hotspot nothing more or less can you recommend anything?? What hotspot plan offer's the most GB? Would really be awesome if you helped.
Just purchased an Inseego 5G. Discovered it has no antenna ports for cell booster. I have the netgear antenna in my Amazon cart from a recommended link on another rv internet video. Is is worth taking the 5G back and exchanging for a 4G with ports just to have more options? Thanks
I don't know what's more important to me. How prevalent and reliable is 5G compared to 4G with an antenna? I travel for work and usually in one spot for months at a time. We are preparing to be newbie full-timers. My wife wants to start freelancing but we don't know what her needs will be.
Love your content and would happily pay to join your membership for details on this question: I don't want to pay year round for a hotspot when I only use my RV 30 days/year. Is there a way to use my cell phone as a tethered hotspot with an external MIMO antenna so I can get reception inside the "iron tent". I really don't want to use a booster after watching many of your videos so could you please say if what I want to do is possible? If you say yes, I'll sign up for membership to find out how this can be done.
Cell phones do not have antenna ports so can't support external MIMO antennas, which is why many prefer hotspots or routers. We do have a guide for part-time connectivity as well as a video about it here: www.rvmobileinternet.com/guides/part-time/
Our guide to Wi-Fi Extending: www.rvmobileinternet.com/wifi We also have a gear center dedicated to Long Range Wi-Fi. A lot of our content is cellular, as there's much more of it to cover and it's what most people use.
Is there a way to setup 2 separate providers and use one as a "fail over"? In the event one loses coverage..... Then it could automatically switch over to your fail over provider?
Do you have any tips for people in Australia or know of sites similar to yours that focus on the Australian market? Been working from home for the last 18 months and looking to take it on the road. Australia also suffers from a lot of signal black spots.

Hi Cherie and Chris, love your story and everything you have been doing. You are an inspiration that many could follow. This is off topic but feel you should give it consideration as in many ways it is connected to your material: "SpaceX is gearing up to launch a private beta for Starlink this summer and a more public user test program later this year. The company sent emails overnight on Monday to Starlink beta applicants requesting addresses for where they'd like service". Love to see you get on board.
Check out our recent video on the reality check of Starlink. We'll have a satellite update out soon as well. We don't qualify for the beta, as we're in FL - not up north where the satellites currently are deployed.
So, why has ATT and Verizon taken away unlimited hotspot data plans? Now the only option seems to be 30GB/month. I have no access to fiber optic options where I live. Do they realize some people don't have options like that? What is everyone doing now that needs a mobile hotspot data plan way larger than 30GB/mo. I need help! My kids have to remote school as well and I don't know what other options there are other than a hotspot.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter But none of the plans are unlimited. As a "whole house internet plan" via a mobile hospot, we use 200-300GB a month easily between 6 people. What are people to do now that only have a mobile hotspot as a solution for their internet resource? Even 100GB plans don't cut it. And who wants to pay $120 plus a month for a data plan when we were paying $30-50/mo? These companies are so greedy. They are definitely no "for" the customer.
There are options.. such as the third party providers. For those that don't want to go that path, they learn to balance their needs vs. lifestyle choices.
