Internet access is as essential as water, power and sewer access for RVers and cruisers, some would even say it's more essential. Internet is an amenity that is vital for working remotely, learning, routing, keeping in touch, entertainment (streaming video & gaming) and socializing.
The options for keeping online while traveling the US are substantially different than those available while living in a fixed location.
And there is no one size fits most solution. Plus, the options are changing ALL of the time. Most RVers and Cruisers end up selecting multiple ways to get online - as the best internet solution is the one that works best at your current location.

About ready to finalize our plan, excited to hear what Chris and Cherie have to say. Really appreciate all of their knowledge that they share. I feel like I'm an expert now when I go into a retail AT&T or T-Mobile store. It's bad when a little bit of research gives you more knowledge than the store's employees.

I applaud the great overviews you guys give, and the context in which the options apply. My only input to the conversation would be around satellite capacity in urban areas, and the statements you make, such as at 08:48. While I recognize that you said that satellites "might" be congested (versus having said "are" congested) in urban areas, I wonder if you've done any testing as to that on your own, or are just passing on hearsay. Many channels are making the urban congestion comment, yet none have really done any testing of any merit, and some of the urban testers I've seen are reporting very decent speeds. Just my .02. Thanks!
We have definitely seen a mix of experiences in different locations.. especially on legacy geo stationary options. Starlink is more of a mix, and it's still actively being deployed and adopted. A lot remains to be seen.
You folks are so thorough. We wantbto use a jet pack in our new condo for internet, so I can take it with me to process credit cards at my auctions. I dont want dual internet bills if I can help it.
Seems like a mobile device is a goid idea but i need to hook my condos ethernet to the mifi/jetpack.

You guys provide a great service to the RV community. I just purchased a ATT Netgear Nighthawk Hotspot 5G Pro...it works ok, but I think I need an external antenna (to mount to my Class A roof) to get better reception. I've looked for an antenna for this device but when I read the reviews some say it's not compatible. Any thoughts?
Netgear sells an antenna for this device: www.rvmobileinternet.com/netgear-mimo. It's however 2x2, while internal is 4x4. So it may actually decrease performance in some cases.
Hello! Awesome channel thanks for the work you all do! I've been following and subscribed for a Lil bit, 8 or so months. I'm trying to find a solution to low reception inside my rv, and I only seem to get internet late at night.

Signed up for Dish Wireless Data plan and just received the Netgear M6 Pro today. Turned it on and no connection, had to power off and re-seat the SIM twice before it connected to the Dish network. Once connected got 100 meg down and about 15 meg up here in eastern Louisville, KY. Taking it out to the RV tomorrow at Lake Jericho in Smithfield, KY to see how it works out there. Hoping to get a good signal…James

@@lauramorris2663 kind of sketchy right now. Works well near larger cities but rural areas slow to nonexistent service. Keep hoping service will be better as they build their network but may take a while. The initial purchase is high but the monthly payments are only $20 may be good to have as a backup internet provider.

You would want to consult with a network engineer.. we are focused on the folks receiving that signal (RVers), not creating it.
Hi I just started watching your channel. I have a question for you. I just bought a version Orbitz 5G speed hotspot. The problem is there are no antenna ports to get better reception, so I’m getting 3 and 4 bars but my speed is only 2 mbps is there anything I can do to make it faster?

No, we have not tested them... their LTE stuff is below our threshold for being current and relevant (Cat-7 or above modems).

We're on a boat for only 3 months a year and off of the Florida Keys and down towards the Dry Torguas some. Trying to decide between a WeBoost or a Verizon LTE network Extender. Which one would you recommend? Two users, one iphone, one Android.

Question. When you talk about having multiple carriers does that mean that I have to have multiple individual accounts with those carriers? If so, Is there a provider out there that has one plan that utilizes multiple carriers???
There are some that claim to provide access to multiple carriers, but we've not been impressed with them.

If you have a smartphone you can get a phone plan that will do that. Almost all modern smartphone plans include data you can use for phone apps, including google maps and AirBnB. Some plans also include mobile hotspot/tethering data that will allow you to use your phone to get other devices online. We have more information and links to other resources and options here:

Thank you for the info. I don’t want to spend all that money for Verizon/ATnT services at this time. I only spend $300 a year for my phone service. I was looking for something that could connect my iPad as well as my phone. I should of been more clearer.
There are data plans for cellular enabled iPads listed as well in the link provided. Or you can connect via your phone data plan's hotspot.

Why my phone gets hot using hotspot 5 g? Using it for xbox gaming and it freeze sometimes and gets hot. Howe does netgear hotspot works? With sim card? If living nier to 5 g tower can i just get netgear hotspot connect to 5g our i need network provider?

Bummer the nighthawk M6 is not available anymore on at&t.
M5 is now selling almost double on netgear & amazon and of course dropped from at&t
We noticed it gone from their site this week too.. hoping it's just temporary. It's brand new.
So.. Starlink just decided to rid themselves of their RV clientele. Just this morning.. Starlink announced a $15 per month increase for RV users, that's $150 per month !! They also stated that current customers can return their equipment within 30 days for a full refund.. which is no doubt what I will be doing. It was already pricey! Pretty sure that they regret having created a segment for the traveler's, perhaps making it difficult to manage loads in urban areas?

Help Please. I looked for a way to email you concerning my situation but this failed. I am a long term subscriber of your channel because I am not a techie. Watching many of your videos lead to my buying the Insty Connect system and thank you because it works very well in boosting the cell signal. I am employed by a Board Of Education and travel in my RV when schools are closed on weekends, holidays, fall and spring brakes and the longer period for summer recess. I'm officially an avid part timer camper. My Verizon plan is $160 per month and this is expensive for me so I must suspend service. If I want to go camping from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon and watch a few movies or videos I have to activate the service and pay for a "full month". That equates to $60.00 per day. Its worse because I may only watch for a few hours. Ouch! I have two SIM's card slots. Is there an option for pre paid SIM's card that has pre programed minutes/hours I can use for these short camping days?

You guys are wealth of information You're very valuable resource to the pneumatic community and even myself somebody who stays on top of these things still comes to your website and your videos to keep up on what's current......BUT you really need to stop speaking in such absolutes in this video you say that satellites are not going to replace cellular and you are 100% wrong on that.... It may still be a little while off but it's not going to be long star link was created with the intention of being able to connect to an antenna the size of a cell phone built into a cell phone and they aren't the only company working on this the major cell phone companies we know today are going to become history unless they jump on board before you know it every cell phone in the world is going to be connected to a low earth orbit satellite allowing people to make calls from anywhere in the world as well as access Internet which technology is coming and it's not that far off in reality
Starlink was actually never designed to support broadband speeds to phone-sized devices - it is engineered around physically larger antennas. We have been tracking two companies that are working on connecting cell phones directly to satellites - AST SpaceMobile and Lynk. BTW - satellite and cellular are likely to remain complimentary technologies. Satellite will never be able to work well indoors, and cellular will always have challenges in the most remote areas.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter good point about the satellite and the indoors although that can be fixed pretty easily by having a transponder on each home or building or even a transponder Tower that covers an entire area switching the signal from satellite to something that can penetrate homes. But like I said when Elon developed this the intention was for it to be received by cell phones that would replace traditional cell phones that's why he's already building the Tesla phone and there have been plenty of other things he's done that people said he couldn't and he seems to pull it off every time. .. besides that the cell phone companies and phone companies in general have been grossly overcharging people for years now and the green behind those companies only seems to increase. Many are more than willing to jump ship from their current carriers as soon as the viable option becomes available
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter on a side note I have an odd question that maybe you can answer I'm looking into purchasing an AT&t Netgear nighthawk from somebody who had their service turned off supposedly it's locked to the AT&t network I'm thinking I might buy it and then just buy an AT&t prepaid sim.. but if it's locked to the network will it still work on its own network or does that Network lock prevent it from being used at all?
