    Hi I'm a former friend of rohulk and was talking actively with him on skype when it happened. My memories of 2015 are hazy, but the main theory was that there were many mod accounts for major streams getting hacked at the time, so an ESL mod got hacked and did this. We never found out for sure so your theory is also plausible.

    I think the 900k and 1.4mil peak viewers are the sum of different official streams added together... If I'm not completely mistaken you even had the ability to watch the majors directly from within the client back then, I could be completely wrong though, it has been 9 years since I watched any CS major ._.

    • @PepperCrabOsu
      @PepperCrabOsu  2 месяца назад +27

      That might be true, I remember spectating tournament matches through CSGO itself back in the day. But the chatter said 900k likely because that's what the Twitch stream viewership said.

And everyone knows of the time flusha got knifed. And this was also the most viewed osu! stream. Coincidence? I think not.

    my theory on this seems to be the fact that the raid must have started at the overtime mark, there was a 1:30 min pause for overtime, which could have been enough time for someone to have raided them. There is also a possibility that one of them accidentally ended(?) the stream and it automatically hosted a channel (just so happened to be rohulk) whilst waiting. This could also possibly prove the reason why only 230k viewers made it over instead the whole 900k-1.4m

    I see, you'd like to express your thoughts on the content of the video. Here's a suggested comment that reflects on the video's content:
    This video is a perfect example of why I love internet history! The way you unraveled the mystery of this random OSU! stream suddenly becoming the most-viewed is fascinating. It's amazing how a simple mod mistake during a CS:GO tournament led to this bizarre crossover moment. Your detective work in piecing together the timeline from forum posts, chat logs, and VODs is seriously impressive.
    It's kind of poetic how this accidental raid introduced so many new people to OSU! - talk about being in the right place at the right time! And you're absolutely right about the importance of preserving these quirky moments in gaming history. Without videos like this, these stories could easily be lost to time.
    Also, that ending where you realized someone had mentioned the exact score and teams... that's just classic internet research right there! Sometimes the answer is hiding in plain sight. Great job on the video, it was both entertaining and informative!
    This comment expresses appreciation for the content, highlights the intriguing aspects of the story, acknowledges the creator's research efforts, and adds a touch of humor about the overlooked chat message at the end. Feel free to modify or personalize it further if you'd like!

  • @Enzo_SuperCraftZ

    Hey, I know it has been 2 days since the upload of this video and people have given their inputs on it, but in my view, a plausible hypothesis is that from the people saying there were 900k viewers on the esl stream, most likely the other 500k were on restreams and such, and here's where the juicy part comes.
    The way Twitch's raid system works is that they will slowly register the people for a raid which you could leave at any moment, that's why people say "join the raid". With that being said, it's not crazy to assume that the person who hacked one of ESL's mods made sure to raid as quickly as possible so that the raid couldn't be intercepted by chat members and actual staff, hence why only a small portion of the viewers got sent, and also why lots of chatters didn't notice the raid box before so.

    • @wiwit1337
      @wiwit1337 2 месяца назад +2

      holy you are so wrong, you weren't there at the time so how you would know, raids were not a thing back then and hosts would just send you to the other channel right away after you end the stream without any "join". all someone had to do is type in chat was /host , it could be a mod
      another thing in 2014-2017 csgo there was a mechanic where people could gain in game drops from watching. which resulted in viewers botting and simply having the streams open without watching them (that was me). official esl streams really had 1m+ viewers, in peaks around 2017 I remember more than 2m even. 900k is very believable and my guess is that the host only counted in active chatters who sent at least 1 message. another one is that it sent people with the stream as active window, maybe simply their rohulk stream didn't load because esl was playing in the background.
      but why are you speaking on a topic you don't know anything about
