@@angelfish1506 logically. No one knows anything. But there is still the posibility that he knows stuff about britain. Plus it was just a recomendation. If he doesn't know anything about it no one is forcing him to watch it.
I think that the whole "you strike me as a woman who has never being satisfied" is not Hamilton saying: "you're a virgin, aren't you? I can tell" it's more Hamilton saying: "you probably had suitors and you are possibly taken, but non of them can please like me". And when he say next: "I've never been satisfied" means: "I was never pleased properly too, so let's hook up". And the face that Angelica made wasn't suppose to be a mad one, but she kinda tried to brush him off while being intrigued by him (in the musical and by the tone)
Exactly. My own interpretation of it was that she's not intellectually satisfied by her suitors. Aka they are not on the same wavelength as her. Given that women were usually expected to be naive and submissive, she couldn't find a great conversationalist like her to discuss stuff and be with. And then Alexander affirms that he to hasn't found a woman he considers his intellectual equal. So they both aren't "satisfied". There are a lot of similarities between the two (as per the play) that they think quite highly of themselves and their standing and intelligence and rather in a way look at other people as below them. So both are looking for an equal. When she understands it she blushes as she thinks she's finally found an equal who she doesn't look to as "not up to her standards" intelligence and talent wise. She says so just after that. Also, that's why later on when she leaves US she says to him "there's no one who can match you for a turn of phrase". She likes that she can banter with him as an equal. However I do think that when she initially says that "I don't know what you mean you forget yourself" she interprets this as him saying that she isn't sexually satisfied by her suitors ( you know... A guy bragging that he's better than other guys in bed or whatever) and reminds him that he's no place asking such questions or insinuating she sleeps around (before marriage in the context of the play) to a lady of a prestigious household especially when he's not in a high enough position to do so. As in you forget that you are not to insult the host's daughter.
He forgot about them. He was writing satisfied and the words flowed. He forgot to write them in and when he was done to mention them would ruin the flow of the song.
Interesting interpretation on their conversation about never being satisfied. I never thought of it as sexual, or referring to virginity. I always felt it had more to do with not being satisfied in life.. like wealth, career, (okay yes, love), reputation and stature. Overall, im extremely Satisfied with your videos. You're awesome.
That is Alexander’s meaning, in the play, but when Angelica responds “I’m sure I don’t know what you mean, you forget yourself” she’s mistaking his meaning for being a pickup line/reference to sex.
Totally agree. I don't think Alexander was referring to virginity at all. I think he was noting the fact that Angelica was an intelligent, well-read woman living in a time when women's intellect was simply unacknowledged. After all, many many women have married, had tons of sex and given birth numerous times without ever being "satisfied". That's where the Victorian phrase " lie there and think of England" came from!
I interpreted Angelica's interpretation slightly differently from Social Stud here. We all agree that Hamilton didn't mean anything lewd, but I saw Angelica's initial interpretation as being that Alexander was claiming that no man she'd been with had gotten her off. Whether or not she'd ever had sex, she was never _satisfied_, or so she interprets his words.

Phillip Schuyler didn’t want to mooch, but the musical is speaking to Angelica’s need for care if her father dies with no brothers. Or women’s need for care if their father dies and they have no brothers.

If you decide to do a video on Burn/First Burn in the future, I recommend Micho's animatic of First Burn. I believe Eliza was pregnant or had recently given birth around the time The Reynolds Pamphlet/Burn happened and Micho's is the only animatic that I'm aware of that reflects that.
Here's what's actually going on in this song: Angelica is proposing a toast at her sister's wedding, and freezes up for over two minutes while she has a vivid flashback. No one seems to notice.
I love Angelica, both as character in the musical and as a historical figure. I'm hopping someone will capatilaze in Hamilton's success and we'll get some novel or show about the real Angelica, because there was a reason everyone fell for her, ;)
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO FOREVER. Weirdly, this video makes me satisfied. Like, more satisfied than all of your other videos, and I binge them like there's no tomorrow and I'm never satisfied but this video makes me satisfied.
I disagree with your interpretation of "satisfied" especially considering how it is used through the rest of the musical. To me, it was more generic satisfied. Happy with where you are, content. I see Alexander Hamilton as never content with his position and always pushing for more.
Exactly. My own interpretation of it was that she's not intellectually satisfied by her suitors. Aka they are not on the same wavelength as her. Given that women were usually expected to be naive and submissive, she couldn't find a great conversationalist like her to discuss stuff and be with. As in you forget that you are not to insult the host's daughter.
True, I also always so both their dissatisfaction with things that they can't have - Angelica isn't much in a powerful position, she hates the role that has been forced on her and the women of her time and that she can't do anything greater than that Hamilton is unsatisfied with the work he's doing, that he can't do anything else and can't do as much as he would want to, he can't accomplish the things and expectations he's set for himself Angelica is unsatisfied with her surroundings and the people of her time, Alexander is more unsatisfied with himself than with the people around him
somehow I feel like the satisfied thing is supposed to mean that in life and in what he does he's never satisfied he always wants more. like no matter how much he accomplishes no matter how much he does he just wants to keep doing more and more and more until there's nothing left.
Awww i really wanted the other video by jake whatever his youtube name was... legit the prettiest animatic out. Also the first one i seen before I even seen the play and I remember I cried lol. Not knowing the play or the songs but the music and the animation was perfect I became emotional
I always read that never been satisfied between alex and Angelica as a mental and intellectual aspect of satisfied, but it's interesting the way you pointed it lol
Please do the first version of the Burn song (called First Burn) as well as the version from the play! I don’t know what historical things you can get from it and I don’t think there is a hand-drawn animation video to it but the song is amazing 🤩 also I love your videos, new subscriber!
When you are done with the songs from Hamilton please react to songs from the musical 1776. It tells the story leading up to the signing of the declaration of independence with John Adams as main character.
The best idea would be that they were not satisfied not in the sexual thing but in their ideals to conquer and the way forward in life or with what they would believe that both would achieve not happiness, but fulfillment in their lives. Hamilton wanted to be a war hero, make a name for himself not only in high society but in history, perhaps not as exaggerated as the musical shows it, but he had his ambitions to climb on the steps of the Aristocratic mountain. Angelica was looking for an intelligent person with ideas and who was outside the aristocratic world in which she lived (There will be a reason why she eloped and secretly married someone) her love could have been Hamilton if they had met years before.

We've all seen Historian Reacts to Hamilton, when are we getting Historian Sings Hamilton?
I. Pumped for this. And don’t worry, most of us won’t dip just cause you finish Hamilton.
Edit: I love you sassing his pretty eyes.
"I'd love to be in the room when he's rarely in town.". (Me: In the room where it happened?)
You better believe I’m not dipping after Hamilton’s over! I got hooked on your flag reviews haha 😆
I loved this reaction! And while you talked about how Angelica is so trusting I thought you ought to react to "Congratulations" (the long version) !!!
Finally.
FINALLY.
FINALLY!
I know I'm gonna love this.
LMAOOOO i always forget historical figures were just people at the end of the day. Like just try imagining the people you see in hustory textbooks being like Hamilton who just smash and dipped a lot
I love you so much dude I love how you are actually helping ppl fact check or add knowledge
Awe, I love the honest at the very beginning! I've watched a couple of the Hamilton videos now and after that opener, I made sure to remember to subscribe.
And also, I thought the bird was a microphone in the other video. But its so well behaved letting you hold it that long.
This is all in addition to me loving this review in addition to Renee being the queen she was born to be!
I saw your channel off of Hamilton, but I like other videos you do on the channel, keep up the great content!
Ooh a new Historian reacts!
Angelica: *starts singing*
Me: IM NOT HERE FOR YOU
Also me: *big goofy grin whenever birb is in frame*
I know Brady's bird like I know my own mind,
there is nothing more majestic in this world you can find. I love this bird more than anything in my life, I will listen to it squack o'er Brady every time. Brady if you could step aside, I don't mean to be chide, it's just that without birb I know I wouldnt be satisfied.

"I'd love to be in the room whe-"
*THE ROOM WHERE IT HAPPENS?*
Not gonna lie, I discovered the channel through one of your Hamilton videos. But your other videos are interesting, too, so I'm gonna stick around!
Also it sounds to me like you were basically saying that Elizabeth Skyler was loyal and honest to a fault.
Please do some of the removed songs, I think ones called let it go (obviously not the frozen one, there’s an animatic by captain sealant) also congratulations because I freaking love that song
I think I speak for everyone when I say.... FINALLY 😭🤣
Yes I found you from your Hamilton content but your interesting and bring good insight on some of my favorite topics of history
It looks like you’re using ur bird as a microphone 😂
Here's what's actually going on in this song: Angelica is proposing a toast at her sister's wedding, and freezes up for over two minutes while she has a vivid flashback. No one seems to notice.
I think most of us noticed that🙂
@@charlottecunningham2141
And she'd be so embarrassed by us noticing if only we'd noticed well over 200 years earlier.
I won’t dip completely after Hamilton. Your presidential timeline videos with mr beat are really nice to watch too.
Why every time u upload I’m literally listing to hamilton 💀 I love your videos tho. You’re cute too
His voice is nicw
John you will never be satisfied
@@Isarai1705 never.... 😅
@@rinafae OMG I KNOW 😭😭
This is my favorite song in the show.
I really love listening to you react to Hamilton and then telling us how it actually happened!
I wonder how he is gonna do this since the thing between hamilton and Angelica didnt really happen
I like how he knows people write fan fiction about this
Lets goooooo!
Non-stop is currently my favourite but I wonder how many liberties that one took as well lol
WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE 😤
I disagree with your interpretation of "satisfied" especially considering how it is used through the rest of the musical. To me, it was more generic satisfied. Happy with where you are, content. I see Alexander Hamilton as never content with his position and always pushing for more.
Well, obviously it's that, but it's a double entendre. The whole conversation is meant to be rife with sexual tension.
@@HaganeNoGijutsushi I agree. That's how I interpreted it as well.
True, I also always so both their dissatisfaction with things that they can't have -
Angelica isn't much in a powerful position, she hates the role that has been forced on her and the women of her time and that she can't do anything greater than that
Hamilton is unsatisfied with the work he's doing, that he can't do anything else and can't do as much as he would want to, he can't accomplish the things and expectations he's set for himself
Angelica is unsatisfied with her surroundings and the people of her time, Alexander is more unsatisfied with himself than with the people around him
somehow I feel like the satisfied thing is supposed to mean that in life and in what he does he's never satisfied he always wants more.
like no matter how much he accomplishes no matter how much he does he just wants to keep doing more and more and more until there's nothing left.
I'm an engineering major, slight interest but mostly its the money, but history is my passion so I for one will not be dipping after this video.
Awww i really wanted the other video by jake whatever his youtube name was... legit the prettiest animatic out. Also the first one i seen before I even seen the play and I remember I cried lol. Not knowing the play or the songs but the music and the animation was perfect I became emotional
Yay I’ve been waiting for this!
I keep thinking that the birby is a cup and he's always about to drink out of it
I always read that never been satisfied between alex and Angelica as a mental and intellectual aspect of satisfied, but it's interesting the way you pointed it lol
I love how the silhouette of Eliza was seen when Angelica says “so what the hell is the catch”
Finally! You were playing it coy keeping the best for last.
Once Hamilton is done I'll be watching assassins creed 3 so I'll be around
Please do the first version of the Burn song (called First Burn) as well as the version from the play! I don’t know what historical things you can get from it and I don’t think there is a hand-drawn animation video to it but the song is amazing 🤩 also I love your videos, new subscriber!
When you are done with the songs from Hamilton please react to songs from the musical 1776. It tells the story leading up to the signing of the declaration of independence with John Adams as main character.
Maybe I will.
@@BradyDouglass YEs! This makes me so happy
@@BradyDouglass yes please!! We love your reactions and 1776 is so great!
I've been waiting on this one the most
The best idea would be that they were not satisfied not in the sexual thing but in their ideals to conquer and the way forward in life or with what they would believe that both would achieve not happiness, but fulfillment in their lives. Hamilton wanted to be a war hero, make a name for himself not only in high society but in history, perhaps not as exaggerated as the musical shows it, but he had his ambitions to climb on the steps of the Aristocratic mountain. Angelica was looking for an intelligent person with ideas and who was outside the aristocratic world in which she lived (There will be a reason why she eloped and secretly married someone) her love could have been Hamilton if they had met years before.

so would you say you'd like to Be in the Room Where it Happened? lol
Please do Congratulations, it's one of the songs cut from the show but it's my favourite Angelica song
