i love how snakes in paludariums just dip their whole head in the water and start drinking
That snake is so gorgeous.
I wish you could actually buy this :/
Making it is the fun part tho!
You can

Nice ideas! The design and layout are great. However, for myself, I would feel better if the cork wood was attached to the back of the glass by some kind of adhesive, rather than just depending on the tightness of the shape to keep it up. An accident where one of those pieces falls on your critter is not a good thing !
yea def needed to be spray foamed or siliconed in place.
How do you get to the filter to clean it ?
I would be afraid to wedge that much cork in place , then humidity swelling it and popping the glass / seal ?
Matthew Otremba expanding foam might help.
I'm literally obsessed with this stuff. I'm planning a project to build one
You and me both! I've wanted to build one for the past 2 or 3 years but haven't had the time. But I just got a baby Green Iguana 4 days ago that I'm gonna build one for. I finally got my wife to watch a couple videos on them and she's hooked now too. She wants me to build a huge corner one from floor to ceiling and about 4-5 feet wide in front. Since I got her wanting one and having the Iguana now, I'll be having it VERY soon! ;)
@@jastark22181 how'd it go jeff? considering doing the same and would love to hear what plants and fish you went with
Did you guys build yours yet and how did it turn out? Any links of some pictures?
Cool filtration but...Did you cycle the aquarium though?
Of course.
He has more than one aquarium and used so old aquarium water
@@bazzz1467 you need old aquarium filtration medium to seed a new tank. Old water has very little bb in it.
i got the smaller version and i’m stuck on decorating for about 2 weeks now, i want this for a red eye tree frog. i wish there was a video specificity for this
why not use these same ideas but do it for the smaller size?

@@pershop4950
@@pershop4950 I would imagine a red eye tree frog would require more flat surfaces. Though the original comment was left 4 years ago so I'd be willing to bet he/she has finally figured what they want to do for decorating.
The stand inside is an eyesore....c’mon guys you made the best products .
You are right but I would do a little diy tweaking
I guess if you can afford 3k for a snake you can afford this set up. Pretty much my dream setup tho. By far my favorite snake!
It wouldnt be 3k..... infact if you bought the plants first and let em grow, you could have even nicer plants and spread out your investment. Theis whole set ups probably 500$ or something. Its expensive but certainly not anywhere near 3 k. There are far more expensive set ups than this. Infact if you had 3k to set up an enclosure you could make something way bigger and more intricate
3k????
Its the best video by make a paludarium, the unique that say the materials, very very good (sorry for my english)
Thank you! :D
@@ZooMed Where can i buy reptisand or other simylary product in Spain?
Zoo Med products are available worldwide, so I would check with your local pet retailer first and see if they carry or are available to order the specific item you're looking for.
If you can't find the item in your area, reach out to our Customer Service with your question and general location, and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

The animals seem to love it, great non zoo med
It's possible to put crested gecko in this paludarium?
And how to buy this paludarium?
Our Skyscraper Terrariums may be a more suitable choice. Cresties aren't known for their swimming, so you'd have to be extra careful when setting up the water section if you plan on keeping them in a Paludarium.
All Zoo Med terrariums can be found at your local pet retailer for sale or special order.
Hope that helps.
Hey I just bought my set up with the paludarium UVB and plant growth kit
Do I need a second light set for my mountain horned lizard or will this light set up work for both plants and my lizard
That lighting kit should help a lot, but it ultimately depends on your unique habitat and how it is set up. See our website for more details:
zoomed.com/care-education-center/
One thing else I would consider is your habitat's temperatures. A heating bulb may be necessary if temps are too low.
Hope that helps. :)
@@ZooMed I bought the 18 inch light as well and have a heat light and the 3 in 1 bulb plus the other light set up
So far I only have cory cat fish, upside down cat fish and a pleco in there
this is a dumb question but ive never made one of these but how often do you have to change the water
You'll want to water change at least once a month, but it can vary greatly depending on several factors like the amount of water, type of filter, how new the aquarium is, the amount of animals you're keeping, how much waste they're producing, etc. You'll have to gauge yourself what works best for your unique habitat. Hope that helps.
That looks lit like if u agree cool fire 🔥
Faze_Nome your so cringe 😂
I am thinking of getting a paludarium for my 2 crested geckos would the large paludarium have enough room to accommodate a waterfall
I think it should be good just do more research
Wouldn’t the snake’s pee and poo be too much bioload for the fish below?
The importance of a good filter and spot cleaning regularly.
The cork flats used to create the background are zoomeds large or x-large? I’m looking online and these don’t look like the half-rounds you used.
I don't remember the exact size we used, but they were at least the X-Large or Jumbo sized Cork Flats that we cut down to size to fit the enclosure.
Being a natural product, the shape is always unique, so you'll have to scout around to find the one you like. Hope that helps some. :)
Do you have a video that shows how to set up the 12x12x24 paludarium that comes with the kit? I would like to see how to set up all of the parts that come with that one.
We don't have a video for the kit specifically, but this video does shares a lot of the same parts and supplies that can be applied to a 12x12x24 build. Hope that helps.
On your website I’m not seeing an option to buy any of the kits. When I’m on the page for the Paludarium for example there is no link to click that references getting it such as “buy now” or “add to cart”. And when I click on the cart icon it doesn’t have them listed. Just apparel, food, replacement/extra items, and accessories.
Correct. Zoo Med is a manufacturer only, we don't sell direct. Luckily, Zoo Med products can be found or special ordered from most pet retailers. Hope that answers your question. Take care. :)
@@ZooMed Thanks :)
This is so amazing!
That is a very small volume of water for rainbow fish... even dwarf rainbows.
Hi there, how do you stick your cork bark into the glass tank?
Animal safe silicon.
Where do you guys buy them? The links don’t have a purchase button on them.
Zoo Med products can be found at most pet retailers. Contact your local pet shop and see if they carry or are available to order the item you're looking for. Hope that helps.
Cool. How are you sticking the Cork flats to the back of the tank plz
For this particular setup, we just cut the cork flats to be a snug fit, and used the additional materials to close up any loose spots.
As for another option, we regularly use aquarium safe silicone sealant when securing backgrounds.
Hope that helps. :)
@@ZooMed Thank you for your reply n info
I wish they would tell us the whole price

Did you use glue?
It's been some years since we filmed this, but I believe Ryan simply wedged everything into place and did not use any type of glue. But when we do use some glue type of adhesive, it's typically an animal safe silicone. Hope that helps.
Thank you guys I’m soon purchasing the “Skyscraper!” And making my own Paludaruim!
Could you make this bioactive with a clean up crew? What about a drainage layer for the substrate? Wouldn’t it become an anaerobic(toxic) environment for the plants and have to be changed regularly?
It ultimately comes down to your vision and your unique setup. Some modifications could certainly be made to be more suitable for bioactivity.
I ended up dividing the bottom part into by siliconing a piece of glass, then allowing some space underneath for water to flow on both sides. I only have the water filled halfway with hydro balls on one side and dirt above it. The other side is just some sand and water. Occasionally some springtails and others end up in the water, but that's why I put a Betta on the water side. Free food!
@@MegaFluffyBunny any way to see pics of your idea setup. I was wondering how to set up mine and love to have ideas :)
I live in NE PA, where can I buy this complete 18" setup?????? No one ships glass.
Check with your local pet retailer and see if they can special order for in-store pickup. Hope that helps.
I'm thinking about getting one for rough green snakes. My uncle has a rescue rough green snake and I love her. Her name is Medusa
I'm wanting to get a rough green snake or two because of Medusa. They're cute little snakes
Could this be use for a green anole but instead of fish use the bottom for a drainage layer and live plants
Certainly! There's also our Skyscraper Glass enclosures if you're looking for a tall glass enclosure with not as deep as base: zoomed.com/skyscraper-terrarium/
Im planning on putting one together this year, the guy at the store told me yes but do you think i could have a chameleon living in there?
Chameleons aren't much of swimmers, so I'd be incredibly careful when setting up your water element if you decide to house them in a paludarium.
Personally, I'd recommend keeping them in one of our ReptiBreeze enclosures.
What if the tree frog eats the fish or shrimp. I mean frogs do eat fish and maybe even shrimps,so the best compactble creature with frog is a crab. Like you agree.
As with any instance of keeping multiple species, it's always important to take into account their compatibility.
Amazing 💓
Can holes be drilled through the glass of this enclosure?
Our glass tanks are non-tempered so it is possible, but any additional customization is at your own discretion.
would you need a filter if you had no fish in the water and only clean up crew?
It's always important to have a filter when working with aquatic habitats. A Filter is beneficial for more than just keeping your tank clean, it also helps avoid your tank water from becoming stagnate which can bring about its own odors and problems. Hope that helps.
how do you feed the fish and how do you feed the snake?
Is this good for a 19 inch red tail boa? I have the 17x36x36
Hmm, I would recommend our Double Wide Paludarium as it provides both width and height, but even then, you may eventually need to upgrade to a larger enclosure once your pet is full-grown.
Always research the species you plan on keeping and adjust their habitat accordingly.
Hope that helps.
I have a legitimate question. If housing both reptiles and fish in the same enclosure would the reptile waste faliing into the aquarium side affect the fish?
not if the filter is doing its job, plus depending on what live plants you put in it, the roots will act as a natural bio filter, same as if you add shrimps and such to as clean up crews.
@@HorribleGamingFun make sense since the waste would most likely produce ammonia. I was just wondering because im in the process of building my own paludarium from scratch and already have two gold dust geckos im planing on putting in. Thanks for your input.
As Rivyn Daniel already noted, it would depend on the quality of the filter and if it is rated for the amount of waste it would be filtering. Good luck with your Paludarium!
Stupendo.... Ne voglio uno uguale
Is there a filter that would be able to pump the water all the way to the top for a waterfall?
Yes, our submersible Turtle Clean 20 could be set up to pump water to a waterfall inside a paludarium: zoomed.com/turtleclean-10-20/
@@ZooMed will that pump up 36 in to the top of a paludarium?
@@erinhallmakes777 Yes, the Turtle Clean 20 should be able to manage that.
Hi, can u tell me what is the maximum water level on your biggest paludarium (36x18x36)?
The 36"x18"x36" can hold 20 gallons of water.
Are you able to get this in Australia? Or are you able to provide alternatives please?
The Paludarium should be available wherever pet supplies are sold. Check with your local pet retailer and see if they carry or are available to order.
Would this set up be good for a red eye tree frog???
Yes, it certainly could be if set up correctly. :)
Make sure to provide a way for them to climb out of the water if they were to fall in, and always research the specific species you plan on keeping and adjust their habitat accordingly.
Hope that helps.
Can you house a gold dust day gecko in this paludarium?
If set up correctly, this habitat could work with a variety of tropical species.

hello do you have a video for vampire crabs thank you
would two green tree pythons fit in this?
Would depend on their unique size and how the habitat is set up. I would suggest checking out our new Double Door Paludarium, that may be a more suitable size for your needs: zoomed.com/paludarium-double-door/
Could you use a terrarium decoration, like a pineapple hide, for an aquarium? Would it be safe for fish?
Certainly, but it'd depend on the quality of the decoration.
@@ZooMed I recently put a pineapple hide made by zoo med in a 5 g. tank. Is that what you mean by quality?
Zoo Med does not make a pineapple hide.
Beautiful..❤️❤️
I really wanna combine a betta fish and a tokay gecko since they both live in Southeast Asia not sure if this is big enough since Tokay get about 12 inches or should I put Crested geckos 🦎.
Hmm, ya, this enclosure may be too small for a Tokay Gecko, and Crested Geckos are not great swimmers at all, so I'd be incredibly careful when setting up the water feature if you choose to include them. Always try to include a way for an animal to get out of the water if they were to fall in. Hope that helps some.
I feel like a tokay would eat a betta
Is the water safe for the snake to drink?
With proper filtering and upkeep, certainly.
How do you know if the filter is working ?
You should be able to recognize movement in the water, as well as the water appearing clearer/cleaner.
And also also what if your pet lizard (or maybe snake I mean most pet snakes hardly to a water body) fall into the aquarium. There no way a lizard could drown in that aquarium but it will get wet and may feel cold. Also, what if the terrestrial platform breaks?
As with any water feature, it's important to establish some form of ramp or climbable object in case an animal falls in.
The platform is pretty sturdy, you'd have to be really trying to break it or weigh it to capacity.
Does all this come with it?
Or most of it?
Our 12"x12"x24" Paludarium is available in a kit:
zoomed.com/paludarium-habitat-kit/

I'm building one for a fire bellied toad I have coming in 2 weeks. Would fish be compatible with this frog?
Depends on the fish. Research the frog you plan on keeping and adjust their tank mates accordingly.
Serpadesign has had success keeping white clouds and fire bellied toads
Do you think this could work for a mourning gecko?
It's certainly possible. Just depends on how you set up the habitat. Research their needs and adapt their habitat according. When using a habitat with a water feature, always make sure to provide a means to get out of the water. Hope that helps.
This guy looks like Matt from Naked & Afraid

Would a gargoyle gecko and a fire belly toad work or a tokay gecko
Tokay Gecko may be a bit too big for this habitat, but the others may work depending on their unique size.
Can I put a gargoyle gecko in this tank?
It's possible, but I would be extra careful when setting up the aquatic section. Gargoyle Geckos aren't known for their good swimming, so make sure they have an easy way to get back to the land portion if they were ever to fall in.
Can you ship to indonesia?

What happens if the snake falls in the water
It's important to adjust your pet's habitat to accommodate them. If they are an animal that would have trouble getting out of the water, building a ramp or climbable ledge is recommended.
All snakes can swim so you should hopefully be OK
Will the snake eat the fish?
Certainly an option. Depends on how their diet is established.
Can you keep ants and fish together?
Can't say we've tried ourselves, but if the habitat is set up correctly to accommodate both species, I'd imagine it's certainly possible.
Yes, check out AntsCanada on youtube he has an awesome aquarium/terrarium build for ants and fish!
How much did this cost?
You'll have to contact your local pet shop for exact pricing.
A list of the products used can be found in the description.
Can the snake fall in the water and drown?
You'll want to set up your habitat appropriately to the animal(s) you're keeping. Building a ramp, or something that hangs down into the water, can be helpful to a variety of animals.
These aren't even paludariums. A paludarium is an aquarium and a vivarium mixed together. You are not meeting the requirements of the vivarium part. The land should be separated by a partition where substrate can be used along with a drainage layer. Essentially this is a riparium.

Could this work for a small Chinese water dragon?
Another enclosure would probably be more suitable. A young Chinese Water Dragon probably could, but only for a very short time. I'd imagine most would grow out of it pretty fast. Hope that helps.
Zoo Med Laboratories, Inc. yea It helped I have a baby water dragon so I was just looking at options for a temporary enclosure as he grows out of it
This is something I’ve been dreaming of doing. But i have a question. When the snake does his business would that kill the fish?
It'll depend on the amount of waste, the quality of filter, and how well you're keeping up on your spot cleaning.
Could I use this for my water dragon
A juvenile maybe, but I would suggest looking into a larger enclosure.
They get fairly large. My friend has one that's over 2 feet in length and he's in a 180 gallon tank. He has a 40 gallon cement mixer container filled with water/filter and even in our opinion the enclosure is too small..
No. The screen top makes it very difficult to maintain the 80% humidity that water dragons require.
Are you going to make bigger tanks like for water dragon
We have nothing to announce today.
How would you clean it if your snake pooped inside the enclosure
As with most enclosures, spot-cleaning regularly is key to keeping a clean and healthy habitat.
Wouldn't the python piss and defecate in the water? Even eat your fish?
Certainly possible. All things to consider when setting up your pet's habitat.
