- Saturday 11th March 2017 was another special day when 5043 was on the Red Dragon to Cardiff. With permission from our friends at Jacobs Antique Market Tea Rooms; on the top floor, we, along with other enthusiasts/photographers caught the arrival/departure and light engine move to Newport. Also in these edited clips we see a GWR Green HST, 66186/084 Round Oak to Margam, Red DB 60021 steel coils. Final clip is at St Athan with 66129 Grange Sidings to Port Talbot coal.
Nicely captured, she is a smokey noisy one, and one of my faves, and great to see, great elevation where you was, seen a few of yours from up there, thanks for sharing, Colin,
What a fantastic variety of trains caught on camera on this particular day. The Earl looks very impressive. And how dare that class 150 attempt to block the shot at the end! Lol
Fantastic footage, great location. Pete
Lovely Earl performing well.
I’m in this video towards the end
Congratulations on a really good video. The filming location at Jacobs Antique Market Tea Rooms is excellent and the quality of your filming was first class - as usual! All the comings and goings at Cardiff Central made it look very busy.
love that sound
Brilliant video Mike. You always get a great view from the roof garden You had a long day there. We capture The Earl at Newport after seeing Braunton. Kind regards C&A
The Earl sounded almost angry! Excellent work Mike.
Definitely a winner mate.
Great shots. Loved it.
yeah Mike another Awesome video of railways
Well done Mike. Great viewpoint to film the train. Geraint
,Nice video, Mike. But, what were those engine men thinking about, all that steam and smoke going under the canopies. Then opening the drain cocks after the short stop. They would certainly have had a good talking to by the stationmaster when I used to work it 60years ago. The blower would have been turned on to ensure the fire burnt the coal smoke while in the platform, and the injectors on to stop it blowing off.
Very sad I wasn't aware of this or I would have hoped on my train from risca to come see
Great video Mike...Like Your location too....Steve.-:)
Lovely video great detail and steady shots when zoomed in. The steam "blast" when setting off seems a common thing recently and must screw things up for the platform video's, thought for a moment Arriva were going to block your view
Another very successful action packed production Mike, thought that 150 was going to spoil the departure of the Earl, but it was fine in the end....Bob
That damn steam engine nearly spoilt your video of the 150. As the 150 wasn't in any hurry to get away I'll bet you a pint of SA that the driver had his mobile in his left hand. Check it out in super zoom mode mike.
And when she returns from Newport she'll have a tender behind.
