Rails in Wales 1999. Ebbw Vale Steelworks Cabride, just a memory

Join us with 60079 and 60040 on a busy morning with steel coil deliveries back in April 1999. Nick was able to get the necessary permission. to record this exclusive and rare footage. Of special interest is the shunter taking the coils up the bank and over the bridge to the top of the works.
This whole area is completely devoid of buildings; all just green fields and new office blocks. At least we were there in 1999

Fantastic video, Mike. I had a great week photographing trains to and from Ebbw Vale in 1996. Those steel coil trains were seriously heavy.

Excellent insight to a part of our near-past industrial history. Passing the works at night on the Heads of the Valleys Road was always memorable.
I keep an eye out for a reasonably priced OO Gauge model Brecon Beacons in decent condition, but no luck so far.

Sad. Another industry on its knees at a time building construction in the UK is on warp 8. It should be thriving.
