The Queen and the Prince! Music Royalty!
One of the most beautiful songs ever. And that's definitely Prince on guitar. Kate is her own person, but she melded with Prince all over this.
She's a phenomenal performer songwriter and musician.
Kate bush wrote the song originally. Prince reworked it and in my opinion made it into a something magical.
i love that you’re the only one that has done a reaction to my favourite song
Awe I’m glad I could do that for you.
I gotta say I was thinking the same when I heard it. I've played it like 50 times since I heard it for the first time yesterday. Kate took Prince's "Camille Scarlet P" Experiment to a whole nutha level. There is a back story to how they collaborated. The dude in the background vocals.. there is a story about him too..Soo much to what took place here. Congrats to finding this gem. EPIC
Thank you for this 🙂 I think you’d love The Red Shoes, the last song, ‘You’re The One’ is gorgeous, heartbreaking and the guitar work is stunning!!
One of the best torch songs ever recorded. Jeff Beck's guitar work, the Hammond B3 organ from Gary Brooker (Procol Harum), and Kate's soulful, glorious voice is the perfect combination
That was Prince singing on the hook
I was so excited for you to get to that first drop ❤
Great song. Kate Bush and Prince!!!!!! Great review as always. Hope all well Vee. Ray from London.
Ahh Kate & Prince / he actually did few tracks for her on red shoes it's just not credited // she's also on Princes "emancipation" Album
Kate sent her version to prince to add backing vocals, prince added guitar, bass, drums, and backing vocals, it sounds more like a prince song featuring Kate bush.. beautiful song aged brilliantly
Prince - Guitar, Lenny Henry - Backing Vocals.
Also singing on the hook when the male voices are singing without her, is English comedian Lenny Henry.
This reaction made me so happy. I am glad you loved the song.
Love them both thanku so much so lovely to see you love an god bless x
Yes Avee, thanks for the great reaction girl!!! Love your work you always cheer me up
Such a great song. Grand, she says. I knew you'd love it. Prince played bass, guitar and keyboard tracks in addition to vocals. She sent him a demo and asked for a collaboration. The demo is on youtube.
Also "song of soloman" Is a prince track as well as as "constellation of the heart" as a huge fan student of both artist I know what I'm talking about !!! Search out the demo wich is a bit crazier than this / but I do love the red shoes album different for Kate !!! back then I said "this album has some "prince ish" ???. moments
this is very interesting! I’ve known of Prince’s involvement on this track but not the two you mentioned. I’ll see how if I can locate info on those demos. Thx 4 sharing your findings!
Wouldn’t at all surprise me if he had given Kate more than just this song from his vault. It was a pattern with him in the 80s to give away several tracks to an artist (E.g. The Family, Vanity/Apollonia 6, Jill Jones, etc) while only getting credited for a few tracks, or none at all.
First time I heard Madonna’s “Like A Prayer” on the radio I was immediately, 100% convinced Prince wrote it, even though he’s not listed in the liner notes. Some years later she confirmed Prince supplied uncredited guitar work on the opening of LAP, but there are other elements of Prince’s writing to be found throughout the music and lyrics on that track as well.
Neither of those songs are Prince tracks.
Version she originally sent to Prince: ruclips.net/video/IbP-dapt09Q/видео.html&ab_channel=whyshouldIloveyou
Strangely, Kate Bush didn't like some of the arrangements Prince made for the song and it took quite a bit of production work to get the final product but the song came out wonderful and fits both. I wish they had done more
A classic Prince hook and chorus. Like Kate Bush gate crashed the Purple Rain album :-)
Prince crashed Hounds of Love.
@@coy0te9 You mean Prince crashed "The Red Shoes".
I could never really get into Kate Bush, except for this album. I looooove this album! I hope you do more reactions from this album!! I can't remember which track is my favourite, they are all good.
It's this album that got me mildly obsessed with Kate Bush, along with the Line the Cross and The Curve, the film she made featuring the songs
This is not one of my favs from this album, but very cool to have Prince involved w guitar and vocals. From the Red Shoes album, I highly recommend Moments of Pleasure, Song of Solomon,, Top of the City, and The Red Shoes.
Thank you again for the Kate journey, it's interesting how there are now many other young reactors popping up who are becoming obsessed with her almost immediately!! There is a new Kate groundswell, Lol..
She’s a musical prodigy... record producers kept her on the back burner for many years before releasing her to the public.
rachael hudson Yes. EMI didn't like the producer Dave Gilmour paired her up with and ended up using him anyway. Time wasted.
I have no idea if you've reacted to Lily yet. But I strongly recommend Kate Bush's song Lily along with the video!!
Please listen to My Lagan Love, pure vocals , it's beautiful ❣️
That’s all Prince’s arrangement.
While I like Prince, I think he mucked up a good Kate song here. Prince wanted to do a song with Kate, and although they collaborated, they did not work in the studio together. Kate agreed to send him her demo of the song and asked Prince to add some backing vocals and guitar work. Instead, Prince infamously went completely crazy and added so many parts that he fundamentally changed the song. When he sent the tape back, Kate didn't know what to do with it. According to Del Palmer (Kate's partner/bassist/recording engineer) they shelved it for a while. They came back to it later and worked on it on and off for two years to try to "turn it back into a Kate Bush song." Kate's final mix struck a balance between what she wanted in her song with some of Prince's contributions. It turned out well considering, and many Kate fans love it. Myself, I prefer Kate's raw demo version!!! (which you can find on RUclips).
Thanks for uploading! If you have a second, I uploaded a cover of Marvin Gaye. As a fellow music lover, I'd love if you would take a listen. It's on my channel. Hope you like it!
