Well Done Mark Charnock for tonight's episode for rasing stroke awareness and hope that Marlon will recover from this and especially Well Done April for being brave when phoning an ambulance for her dad
Normally I find soaps to be a bit meh but every now and again they do an episode like this that just blows me away. Doing it from Marlons point of view made it feel more real somehow. And absolutely phenomenal acting
Inside Marlon's head, you can hear what he is trying to say to April out loud, but he can't,so he has to think it instead 😭😭😭😭. April is trying to be brave, but she is far too scared 😪😪😪
I know no one may see this. But my dad had a major stroke on 31.12.21 (his birthday, nearly 2022). This story line came out this same time we were dealing with dad and his situation. It is the most traumatic experience I have ever experienced, to this day I talk to and dad, making the decisions (when I know he’s still there in his mind). When it first happened we got told to say goodbye but 2 and a half years later he really is living his best life. 2 years later, he is still nonverbal and paralysed, but he has a different outlook on life. A note to stroke- you have taken my dad’s voice and independence, but you will never take away his spirit, love of life and humour. We will laugh at you☺️☺️☺️
My Dad also had an ischemic stroke in August 2021, what a way to re-live those moments eight months ago in a half hour episode I must say. Clot wasn't able to be removed like Marlon's so his recovery is more long term
@@alexanderjones9572 Some people do recover almost completely, over long periods of time...........I'm 18 months post stroke now, still can't walk well, limited use (about 50%) of my left arm, can't shower properly, use a knife and fork, constant pain, mood swings, short term memory loss, impared vision, constant fatigue, insomnia do I need to go on?
It would be better if they portray this realistically and have the character recover but only partially. Most stroke sufferes either sadly die or end up with a lifetime disability. Something tells me they will go for the oh look he's completely better by the end of the year, because it's very hard to act like this permanently and even harder to write scripts and obviously viewers get very bored quickly. However that was superb acting by Mark. Ironically today is the 15th year since I had a heart attack, and I've always lived in fear of a stroke as they are both linked by clots in the heart and brain
I had a stroke in 2020 at just 29 years old, you're right that nobody ever fully recovers. I had a right side stroke and I'm left with left side weakness and lack of feeling still now. I have to have a leg brace to keep my foot in place, I'm very fortunate to have recovered as much as I have but no, never will I be the same as before
@@fallenscientist2073 I'm so sorry to hear your story. That is very young to suffer a stroke. You do sound a very positive person which I'm sure has helped you through difficult and emotional times. The important thing to remember is you're still you, no matter how severe the stroke, you the person haven't really changed. You are different but still beautiful and vibrant. Your scars and disabilities make you special. Remember imperfect really means I'm perfect. You are very brave, be proud for you survived, and we both know that not everyone survives strokes or heart attacks xxxx
@@kikianne8788 thank you so much for your kind words, it's been an extremely difficult journey to go on, I am very grateful for having lived through it, some days are just harder than others and it's sometimes difficult to remember to appreciate that I'm still here and I'm one of the lucky ones who relearned to read, write and speak. Just have to keep it in perspective on bad days xxxx
Don't watch soaps, find them to be cheaply made nonsense for the very thickest of consumerist society, but this was wonderful, couldn't stop screaming my own name
@@normallynormal3573 His character has long run its course. Rhonda has been written out so naturally they would get him of him as well. He really does not offer much to the show. His character has been getting worse every year. Well over due for exit.

Everyone involved in this played an absolute blinder!! 👏🏻👏🏻
The man deserves an award
I would say that Mark charnock and Amelia deserve an award
👏
👏
Unfortunately my old man never came back to us after his stroke in 2019. Love and miss you dad.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Neither did my Dad, he had his in 2020. It’s beyond describable how sudden, devastating and unfair it is. Bless you ❤️
Had a mini stroke nine years ago. On blood thinners for life now.
This scene brought back some memories.
Outstanding Bravo Mark and the cast!!
That was so hard and scary to watch Marlon, play that part, God bless anybody that gets a stroke, it's must be so horrible and frightening.

I am glad that they’ve done this storyline, it is so important for people to notice the signs. Strokes can happen to anyone, at anytime.
Omg that really touched my heart ❤️. 😥😥
He is an amazing actor !!!!!

Incredible performance from Mark and ameila. Girls got a bright future ahead
I know right she is definitely going places and mark is such a great actor as well
he better be alright! can't stand him from time to time, but Emmerdale is not Emmerdale without Marlon
This episode was so sad I almost cried 😢 wel done to mark for doing this scene to well and the others too
April - Amelia Flanagan is one of the best child actresses of her time
I know right she is great
Amelia Flanagan is a bloody fantastic actress
Had a stroke last September age 50 also a cheflost my left side but luckily not my speech and face thanks for making awareness
As someone who’s parent has suffered numerous strokes this really broke my heart so brilliantly portrayed by mark
Something bad always has to happen, we couldn't have one happy positive episode.
Tell me about it...
Well it IS a soap...
I can smell the Ofcom complaints from here 😅. JK amazing storyline. Stroke needs to be raised more often in soaps
Everyone was amazing tonight
Brilliant acting 😢
Bloody hell this was done well
Goes to show really that’s why live life to the fullest never know what’s gonna happen
No wander with all that stress
It looked so real wow
He never gets better
He had a heart attack before now a stroke poor marlon
When patrick on eastenders had a stroke he fully recovered and he was about 80
So did Amos Brearly in this, when he had one years ago.

Relate to this scene soo much my mothers currently going through a stroke it’s the most awful thing soo sad😭😭😭

Yeah not sure how realistic it was (never seen/had a stroke.) however, pretty sure they left chris tate in a wheel chair for a good while

Does anyone know the song that was played on the triller of Marlon health scare.
MARLON poor April and Rhona
Being in Emerdale that's caused it..
Marlon
Isn't someone normally allowed in the ambulance?
I don’t think atm because of COVID but I could be wrong
Well will all missed marilon
What caused that
Is he hearing things from the past? Sure I heard Lisa’s name…
I know of at least three times ( including this) a character had a stroke. Terry Woods in 2003- and, in the early nineties, Amos Brearly.
🤯🤯🤯

Are we finally getting rid of Marlon. His story line is redundant.
What do you mean redundant??? It's bringing awareness to strokes
