If you're going to do a big storyline then this is how it should be done. Working with organisations that know the effects of strokes was definitely the right move. Marlon and his family and friends acted exactly as you would expect as well. There was no sugarcoating it and making it seem like a stroke is simply fainting and then waking up in hospital
I hope this is properly done and not forgotten about in a few months and marlon makes a 'miraculous' recovery and he gets back to normal like with Dan's allergic reaction storyline. Tonight's episode broke my heart
The way they are doing it from Marlons eyes is brilliant and very very frightening. Just curious why didn't rhona hold his hand that hadn't been affected by the stroke???? He would have felt that wouldn't he???
I hope 🙏 he will get better soon get well soon Marlon please be careful and look after yourself we all pray for you ❤ 💖 ♥ 😭 🙏 miss you so much you are the most handsome man in the world all people love you and we love you so much ❤ 💜 😘 💖
Crazy thing is this could happen to anyone at any time. This poor man had been under so much stress losing The Woolpack and his mounting debt then Chas and Charity at loggerheads
I'm really not trying to be insensitive here just honest. If someone we knew a friend or family member that had a stroke it would be a massive deal and probably one of the darkest days of our lives. The only thing is with Meenas storyline having just concluded and serial killers killing people at the drop of a hat and emmerdale killing someone so frequently I fear Marlons stroke storyline won't have the impact it should have to the audience. I feel a soap such as Coronation Street should have gone for it. Although I think they did do it with Ken?
I think the impact has already been extremely good. If it's acted well it will get the rewards it deserves. I actually prefer these types of storylines than the killing ones
They did it with Ken but not to this extent, in Emmerdale the focus is very much on Marlon as we see scenes through his perspective but in Corrie it was less so about Ken and more so about who pushed Ken down the stairs
Other soaps have done stroke storylines but it's always been older characters and they miraculously have a full recovery within a couple of months. Strokes do happen to people under 60 and it is life changing. I'm 42. I had a stroke when I was 40 and I'm now registered blind, have physical weaknesses and aphasia as well as delibitating neurofatigue... however, to look at me, I look 'recovered'. The biggest change for me was and still is, feeling like a stranger in my own brain. I'm so glad that Emmerdale are doing this storyline with a working age adult, not an elderly character. I'm so glad they seem to be really highlighting the true permanent severity of stroke. As much as I love Marion's character, I do not want him to have a full recovery. I want him to be permanently changed by this because very few people fully recover from a stroke. Those that seem recovered are still changed for life.
Soap operas engage with real life issues in a less immediately confronting way than real life itself, which can provide an access point for many folks to explore issues they want to explore but don't feel ready to through real life channels yet. And understandably - as with all good fiction - they are designed to make people care about the characters featured in them. If you don't then that's fine, but young people count too, and it's good there is stuff that can connect with them to that extent. Furthermore, the longer a story continues, generally the more invested people get in its characters. Soaps are long-term stories, so people get very invested. It's human psychology of a kind you don't yet seem to have developed the levels of empathy or insight necessary to be able to fully understand or appreciate, but the fact you can't understand this says more about where you are at this point in time than it does about the people you refer to in your comment.

When Emmerdale do this episodes from a characters point of view, it’s like a whole different show. They are some of the best episodes
That's why Emmerdale and EastEnders win the awards.
Poor Marlon hopefully he’ll get to talk again
He's in a shock he can't believe why this is happening cause he's never had any medical health conditions well not that I now of
Yeah it’s going to take him some time to walk and talk again

She did she held his left hand he has had a stroke on the left side of his brain which means this will affect the right side of his body.

No one gets back to normal after a bad stroke..
Is this deju vu ? Marlon n Rhona together then few months later rhona has affair with paddy or is it different this time
😱😱
How amusing to see these comments. This is just a soap opera so why do young people take this stuff so seriously? Got nothing better to do I guess.
