I just installed one and it wasn’t bad at all. The secret is to email Eve and ask for a FREE adapter plate. It is exactly what you need if you’re trying to mount it on to an electrical box. Worked really slick! It shipped from Washington and took 3-4 days to get. Highly recommend getting one versus trying to jury rig something else up. I’ll bet I did the install in less than 30 minutes and it looks great!
I got the camera to blink the red light, but even with Bonjour enabled and 2.4G only in use, I could never get the Eve app to recognize the camera. Kind of wondering if it is defective.....
I don't use the app to turn on the light as it takes too long to get my phone out and start up the app but yes, the light on/off is in the app. You can see that at 3:54 . I do however use a homekit button /switch that I have on the wall so everybody can use it - you can see my old switch in this video 5:45 and my new switch in this video - ruclips.net/user/shortsoMFev7rqwtU?si=WazVNyJgjoobfPUC I hope that answers your question.
Also infrared can be a hit and miss. Google nest uses some kind of AI to detect any motion and that removes 100% any false notifications while also having the ability to detect sound even sounds like fire alarm. I have neat door bell after testing many different security cameras and it's by far hands down the best in terms of both reliability and notification speed. Used for 4 years now and have zero issues and it has even endured -20C weather.
My house has old wiring. Often there is no ground wire. Is there anyway to deal with this issue? I note that the install guide for Eve says you must attach the ground wire
for the no-neutral gang out there where Lifx obviously isn't an option - would it be fair to assume that we can get the same job done with something like an EVVR/Shelly 1L smart relay?
I would NOT Assume that! It's a very specific feature to have a load wire constantly on option (software-wise). Also, remember, Shelly is not native to HK, so you'll have to flash the firmware for new HK firmware, which is even less likely to have that feature. You can also keep the power to the camera always on via a different wiring config with a non-neutral wire-required HK switch, but you'll have to know specifically what you are doing or hire a electrician.
@@ModernDayTech thanks for your feedback. Sounds like it might just be easier to decommission the old switch altogether & use that power cable to exclusively power the cam/lights and get a wireless homekit button (e.g. Eve button) or a similar remote to operate the lights instead..thanks for the advice and the content!
@@pshngmeawy That's a great 3rd option too. I would not use the Eve button as it's outdated and slow. If you use Aqara, Hue, or Flic buttons are great options too but they will add an additional hub (if you don't already have one of their hubs). Thus the Wemo Stage is the only thread button currently for HK.
@@summergoldenAccess and simultaneously are two different things. The Home App can be shared with your entire family or multiple devices under your same ID if you choose. But there is a limit to how many people can view the live feed simultaneously. Which this camera can only do 1. Make sense?
Problem with the Eve Cam: You can’t blacken any areas in the picture and make us unrecognizable. Means that I film the neighboring property 24/7, which is not allowed.... I absolutely don’t understand why no one complains about it in any video and why I’m apparently the only one who bothers 🤷🏼♂️
Why is Google discontinuing Nest? The support for the devices will end on April 8, 2024. In its blog, Google said that over the years it has launched numerous products and features to enhance security for its users. That's good to know. Thanks for sharing.
Very easy to install.
User friendly and it just works.
Love this cam!
Great to hear! Thanks for watching and commenting.
I have 6 of these, your review is spot on. I had an electrician installed this for me since i need new wires for 6 locations. =)
Right on! You know how to do it right!
Hi. Will the flood light still function when there is no internet or WIFI? Look forward to hearing from you soon. Many Thanks
Great review!! I only have a small porch I was thinking of mounting it so I’m also thinking it would be too bright?
Awesome video! Looks like it has a lot of features. Install looks quite complicated lol
Yeah I was quite suprised that Eve made it that complicated to install. I expected it from other companies but not Eve.

Hi is it possible to use the light as…just a spotlight for the garden. I mean is it possible to turn the light on/off easily with the app?

I heard a lot of people where getting rain droplets in the glass which protects the camera. Have you found this to be true?
No, not at all. The glas is all clear and the picture looks good.
does anyone use this camera with any mini siwtches or buttons to turn on/off the light? power on the switch would still be on.

When there's a will, there's a way, but I not an electrican so you'll have to ask a license electrican in your area.
How is the articulation of the camera mount? I haven’t found a video, picture, or text that helps me - thanks
It doesn't articulate! Its a fixed position that you set when you install it.

Is there any way to connect this device to more than one phone?
You mean simultaneously?
@@ModernDayTech Yes sir , so everyone in the home can have access

Hell to install. Not standard. Pricey. Should I continue….
Nest is still best due to 24/7 recording, smart notification, face recognition and fast notification
but it doesn't support the Apple Homekit
