Great review. I am wanting to get this camera as well but am hesitant because of the electrical work required. Eve should come out with a wired version too. Would be so much easier and flexible on where to mount it
Wiring it always the tricky part, I agree. The problem is that everyone's setup is unique so it's hard to create a "one solution fits all". As mentioned in the video, I'm thinking of adding a second one to the front of my house, but if I do I'll hire a pro to install - it will be worth it to know it's done right.
Solid review - would love to see a comparison with another camera such as Logitech. The flood light is a nice addition. Not sure if it justifies the increased price though.
Great video. I would love to get this for my home but I’m concerned that it only works with 2.4ghz broadband. I have a Netatmo video doorbell that is the same and it is constantly disconnecting
Great video as always, Brad! I really like the idea of this camera combo, but it does seem to be lacking in versatility with just the one floodlight. I really like the design of the Wyze Socket which allows you to power an outdoor cam while simultaneously making the light smart. The downside is no HK support, it’s not nearly as elegant as Eve’s option,?and definitely not aw secure and private.
Thank you Dustin! I suppose multiple floodlights could be helpful depending on your home. I don't have a huge area so 1 works perfect for me. The light can be controlled separately in HomeKit with is really nice!
Is there a delay in video recording? Meaning if the camera spots motion does the camera start recording and only captures object when it’s almost out of view? Like Eufy.
I had a contractor install this outdoor camera about two years ago. Recently my WIFI network changed and I had to reset all wireless devices to the new network. This meant I had to reinstall the Eve outdoor camera. The original packaging was long gone. Eve told me the QR code would be on the mounting plate. So I took the device apart to find it. It was not there, or anywhere else. Eve told me, and I quote, “you need to replace the device.” I am flabbergasted. Eve neglects to put the QR code on the secondary location, makes it therefore impossible for me to reinstall the device, and expects me to buy another one. I’m am done with this company. I just wish the camera were heavier so I could at least use it as a boat anchor. (I really wanted to like these guys. I even previously overlooked the fact that neither of the 2 motion detectors I bought from them worked reliably either.
Bought this camera from Apple Store. Apple refers you to manufacturer since it isn’t an Apple product. I have had many disconnects from network that could only be resolved by power cycling the device. At least Eve cam does send an alert when camera is unresponsive, which leaves me scratching my head. I installed a Wemo receptacle ahead of the device and now I can restart my camera when it goes off line without having to throw circuit breaker. Eve provided a few suggestions regarding my router and after making sure settings were correct I still will get the camera unresponsive alerts. I asked for an exchange, I was asked for invoice which I provided and was told they don’t provide replacements, contact Apple.
Good video, very interested. Something I haven’t found out is How much can the camera turn when mounted, I mean can it be turned to look along the wall it’s mounted on? Have this rather small but long corridor alongside the house so the more the camera can be swivelled the better it is.
Hey Brad I used your video as guide and decided to go all in and bought 7 for my whole home but I was unable to make them connect to my network 😪 maybe a video about that?
Wow, really?? Mine connected instantly, that is so strange you are having issues with all 7. Make sure you are on 2.4 Ghz and that you have a strong wifi signal when adding them. Try reaching out to Eve Support. It's email only, but they are very helpful.
I’ll have to wait until someone tries it during winter, I have 2 outdoor cameras, I’m very happy with one and very disappointed with the other one, in my opinion the best outdoor HomeKit camera (so far) is the Logitech Circle 2, it’s been installed in my porch since 2018, so it has endured 4 winters here in Edmonton AB, and never has stopped working, even when the temperatures have been lower than -20°C, on the other hand, the Arlo Floodlight is so bad that I’m considering getting rid of it, it doesn’t work when the temperature goes below -10°C, and no HomeKit secured video, on top of that, you can’t record anything if you don’t pay a monthly fee to Arlo, so let’s see how this one performs and maybe I’ll replace my Arlo with this one, fingers crossed!!
Great video. Did everything as you said, but no such luck. Both the eve app and home cant find the camera 😞 I've reset the camera from power and started again, nothing....checked the power, that's oke. Now im out pf options.
Sorry to hear that, do you have a strong wifi connection and also are you on 2.4 GHz wifi only? Also, was the reset a full factory reset? If you tried all that, I would contact Eve for help. Hope you can get this solved!
@@TheBradLloyd Just to be shure, what do you mean with a "full factory reset"? I did contact Eve for help....They said i should contact my internet provider? According to them it must be my router? :-(
Great video as always Brad. I'd like to replace an existing flood light that is mounted to the soffit ie. an under-mount, horizontal surface. This has power and an ideal location but presents a different plane than classic, vertical light fixture. Does the Eve Outdoor Cam and Floodlight accommodate this alternative mounting position? Thanks again
Hi Paul, it's hard to say for sure, but may be possible because of the 3-axis tilt. Keep it mind the video can't be rotated so it would need to be angled in a way that looks right when viewing the footage. Here are the instructions if you want to look it over. www.evehome.com/sites/default/files/inline-files/Eve_Outdoor_Cam_Manual_EN_DE_FR_51ECA9901_0.pdf
Also saw this on the Eve website specifying to be installed upright: "Can I mount Eve Outdoor Cam upside-down? Eve Outdoor Cam has to be mounted in an upright position with the camera's microphone and speaker array facing downwards in order to prevent water damage."
I have the Circleview Doorbell, but not stand-along camera. I believe Shane Whatley has tried both - not sure if he compared it in his review, but maybe check that out.
Great job with the review. Thanks. Based on the quality of video shown, I think I would go with a Wyze Cam v3. For $25 I can most of the same functionality with better quality video. For privacy I can flash the open source firmware.
Just look like a Netatmo clone to me. And I do think the Netatmo looks better. A lot of non tech people don’t realise that the Netatmo is a camera. I do think the eve will have a hard time hiding it’s camera function. Never the less the eve camera is more private. And that is hard to find these days
Another great video Brad. I purchased the Eve Outdoor Cam and it’s very nice.
Thank you Dennis. Glad you are liking it!

Thanks G D. I agree a comparison would be a good idea. Perhaps on a future vid!

Do you still recommend this camera after 3 months of use?
Can u make the motion sensor a separate device?

May I know the wattage of this device if powered on 220 volts

@@TheBradLloyd yeah I think maybe I’m doing something wrong with my UniFi setup, currently looking on RUclips for a solution !

@@TheBradLloyd Oh interesting. Many existing floodlights are mounted on soffits so this may be a missed opportunity for Eve.
Nice review and the camera looks nice as well, but rather expensive. The Eufycam 2c seems better value.
I need to hear a honest review about this.
Has anyone tried both this and Circleview? Which one is better?

£230 is a lot. I’m not paying that.
