I was hoping they wouldn't. I guess Fender DEMANDED that EVERY channel that demonstrated these pedals (and that must be 90% of them) use that stupid phrase.
JUst got 3 today. Chorus, flanger, and reverb. The chorus and reverb are on the acoustic board with a Fender Mirror Image delay. Flanger went on the electric board. So far I like them.
Can someone else dial in the pedals other than someone that has to comment on how he usually never likes [whatever the given pedal style is] but really likes this one and nonstop turns knobs?
The one complaint I have about Affordable guitar pedals nowadays is that they all tend to be the same sort of things - generic drives, fuzzes, choruses, delays etc. that you can get just about anywhere and get just as high quality from a cheap MultiFx(which wasn't the case a decade or two ago). I really wish there was a line of affordable pedals designed *specifically* to do weird, interesting things. Pretty much all the cool, interesting effects are going to be more expensive boutique stuff(or the higher end of the EHX price range) and it makes me sad there's no affordable options. Something like a self tuning Ring Mod(Guess i should have picked up that Magicstomp) for example, crossover distortion, weird delays etc. I'm glad to see Fender putting in some little bit of effort with things like the Overdrive and Space Delay a bit at least
Sister Rose: ya there are alot these days, the one positive i can say is you have different options to chose from. but despite the fact they all might be similar, Fender is kinda weak in this area. to me there bread and butter are guitars and amps, but when it comes to pedals they tend to be hit and miss. there were a couple of pedals i tried in the past that turned out ok. i liked a few of there reverb pedals, but when it comes to fuzz, and distortion, that's where they fall short at. every drive pedal I've ever tried from Fender always sounded fizzy, other pedals I've tried that are in a similar price range as these pedals do a better job than Fender. i get why there doing this, there trying to cash in on everything that's out there.
The guys on That Pedal Show threw this Fender Space Delay in the mix while focusing on the comparison between the Strymon El Capistan(both V1& V2) and a Roland RE-201 Space Echo. Of course they liked the Roland the best....the guys saying it had a "3D element" that made it quite special. BUT....for the focus of great tape delay, they were exceptionally impressed with the Fender Space Delay. For $100, it equaled the focus of the Strymon models with a bit more warmth.
Some don't take batteries. I've got the space delay and you can access speed and Depth trim pots inside by taking the bottom off. No battery though. The distortion type, all the cheaper ones, pedals take batteries but the rest don't.
Last demo of these for me...lol .I've watched so many and all have painted similar picture...these seem to work best stacked together..build off each other..
I never understood high level for unity either. Then I read a Gibbons interview wear he has low pre amp gain and dimes the power section. It's the best tones I've had. My plexidrive is on about 2 with volume roll off to tastes. So much more dynamic.
Thanks for the demo. You guys are awesome and I really enjoy the channel. These pedals really aren’t bad for the money. I picked up the reverb and am thinking about the fuzz and chorus. Unless you’re a gigging guitarist these pedals should be more than adequate. Even if you gig some of them could be useful. Thanks to you guys for letting us hear them before we make a decision. Really appreciate what you’re doing here. You’re a great asset to the guitar and gear community. Take it easy guys ✌🏻
The overdrive feels dark, the distortion sounds like a DS1, the metal sounds like the distortion with more gain. I would love to hear them against some other known pedals for reference. The fuzz to me is terrible.
A bit underwhelming actually. Not even whelmed :D One would think with the resources Fender have they would put out a £150 pedal (sound quality-wise) for the price of an affordable pedal, sell tons of units and secure a big market share. Not sure what they were going for really. Tone City sound better for half the price. Lee and Pete looked underwhelmed too (but they did not to say it directly as Andertons will want to sell some of these :D ). Nice playing Pete as usual! You can make anything sound good man!
Not gonna lie, that overdrive is sounding kinda sweet. And you definitely could do hard rock with it. Mid-Eighties Dokken, for instance, maybe even first-album Van Halen. It has that snotty, nasal "ong" sound with the "Pre-Mid-Boost" knob wicked up. Of course, you'd need to _start_ with an already-cranking Marshall...
1:03 PSA that tuner Pete is using is REALLY good! It's called a UniTune, and they are about $35 and they are no joke the best clip on tuner I've used. How good are they? my freind and I realized if you are even near one, it will tune the pitch of your voice lol they are super accurate and I'm surprised they are so cheap
I think the Distortion is more of a DS-1 type distortion. There's definitely some differences in tone, but if anyone has seen That Pedal Show's DS-1 video, you'll know what I'm talking about. It needs to be run into an ever so slightly driven amp.
Hi guys greetings from Ohio u.s.a. Nice solid fuzz . Iam sure us budget minded guitarist will like the whole bunch,,don’t care if it’s boutique or not , are they bulletproof and do the gig .thanks for all your info and demos you guys are life savers when it comes to navigating a lot of these products. We all don’t have tons of time to go to namm shows and what not thanks
The Fuzz and Reverb are the standouts to me. That Reverb in particular sounds SUPER lush, and the Fuzz is subtle but classic sounding. The rest kinda range from "decent" to just outright mediocre IMO
Take a good compressor (Wampler Alter Ego) a J. Rockett .45 Cal and put it before a J. Rockett Blue Note Pro. Adjust to your taste and find out how they all add to each other for Marshall tones.
Pretty good sounding boxes, nice price. That said, I can't imagine why people love top jacks unless they have teeny tiny feet. Addendum: You lot really should learn how to use a flanger. Some of the best "chorus" tones have been made with a flanger.
Looking to buy a guitar to get back in the game. That Squier but with the fixed bridge is on my list. You can add these pedals to get something good without breaking the bank.
Well unity gain can change with each set up so that’s why I imagine they have them made that way but yea there is a lot of pedals I’ve came across that even with the volume all the way up it barely seems to make unity
In regards to Pete's comments about volume knobs... I almost always need to pull volume out of several pedals in my signal path. I do wish pedals marked the unity gain position, and I wish increases or decreases of gain didn't change the volume of the pedal, so when I'm turning up the gain, I'm not also increasing the volume. When I'm boosting the gain, I'm just trying to get more break up, not more volume. If I wanted more volume, I'd turn the volume knob up. Seems so obvious.
Fender has tried with pedals before and nobody ever seemed to care very much. Interested if these will make any waves competing with the likes of Mooer and Danelectro and other decent cheap pedals. ***Editing after watching to say I thought they were terrible except the Delays and reverb. All the dirt pedals were garbage IMHO.
These sound terrible to me. Last good pedal I heard from Fender was the Malmsteen Overdrive, impressive circuit kept the noise down and the highs clear.
Likewise very poor, I could tell they were really struggling to muster some enthusiasm, I love it when they unearth some real gems but you don't get the truth with videos like this but hey that's marketing eh...
I really liked Fender’s higher priced pedals like the Pugilist Distortion, Marine Layer Reverb etc. These new lower priced designs don’t really rock my world from what I’ve been hearing. I think I’ll pass on these.
I ended up buying the hammertone fuzz. I didn't like the pelt - I bought a DOD Carcosa instead. The trapper fuzz is pretty cool too but a totally different flavour of fuzz to the hammertone
@@bradmarden8392 thanks Brad! I still haven’t gone for any fuzz yet as I’m just cranking the Hudson Broadcast for that kind of sound… considering a JHS one tho 🤔
I think the Distortion Pedal seems to be more an Overdrive Pedal then the actual Overdrive Pedal is. The Distortion Pedal seems very tame. (Seems they had to leave room in sound to justify the Metal Pedal)
I thought they all sounded cheap and a bit crap. There wasn't much usable range in any of them. They might be well made which would put them in the £50+ category but there are cheaper pedals out there that sound better than any of these.
Yeah, I think most people watch these videos on their phone. Watched the Soldano demo and then this. Omg what a difference! Cheap and a bit crap indeed.
I’m surprised. Fenders’ main line of pedals all sound fantastic, but these hammertone petals are not where I was hoping they would be. I know they’re far less expensive, so I shouldn’t expect them to be as good as the main series, but I still don’t think I would pick any of these even at the lower price.
The world does not need another range of affordable pedals --I wish they put had their minds and marketing to something more innovative…that said, if each pedal were 20 quid I might think differently
Funny how the dials/knobs have the 'F' from the transition/CBS logo while the newest iteration of the 'spaghetti' logo is printed under the switch/button on the pedals.
So..... for about $630 one can have 9 pedals or for $399, a GTX-50 that will still do all this. Im just goin crazy or what. I like Fender gear. Its always pretty good. Its getting nuts in consumer land out here.
I only tuned in to see when they’d say ‘Hammertime’. 38 seconds. Well done, lads.
That’s all I wanted too. Thanks!
38 seconds baby! (If you know, you know)
I was hoping they wouldn't. I guess Fender DEMANDED that EVERY channel that demonstrated these pedals (and that must be 90% of them) use that stupid phrase.
And then every 38 seconds after that.😖🤯
@@bingobango4840 Although I also made this joke, for the pedals I fan confirm it’s stupid
The Chorus is surprisingly far more useful than I expected. Those are some great sounds.
I love that Pete actually owns that Squier. And they didn’t use a stupidly expensive guitar for the demo.
JUst got 3 today. Chorus, flanger, and reverb. The chorus and reverb are on the acoustic board with a Fender Mirror Image delay. Flanger went on the electric board. So far I like them.
Big fan of Fender Guitar Pedals lately , I especially like the Pedals that came out before these Pedals
I expect these to pop up in the next few 'build a rig/pedal board for x amount of monies' videos, these are great. And that Overdrive sounds so sweet.
Love that "unity" gain on that overdrive is fully 15-20db louder than clean lol (at least according to the db meter in the background)
Can someone else dial in the pedals other than someone that has to comment on how he usually never likes [whatever the given pedal style is] but really likes this one and nonstop turns knobs?

Check out Caline pedals. They have a lot of fun combo pedals you can do interesting stuff with!
I love their main line. I currently have the Santa Ana OD and the Tube Trem! Both are amazing. I hope these are just as good.
That reverb sounds Kickass, I just started researching with pedals. Best sounding sub $100 Reverb, def going on my first board.

That Overdrive really shocked me. I almost always play clean sounds but it just sounded so nice.
old school amp knob's are on these fender pedals from the fender amp's so cool
I Love the way these look. They sound sweet too! That overdrive is sweet!!

the Fender Engager Boost is a great silent boost and quick easy EQ! heartily recommended!😉
I just want to collect all the knobs now. Thanks again, Fender.
These pedals came out of nowhere. I felt Fenders previous iteration of pedals were great and thoroughly advertised
The overdrive feels dark, the distortion sounds like a DS1, the metal sounds like the distortion with more gain. I would love to hear them against some other known pedals for reference. The fuzz to me is terrible.
The fuzz actually sounded great. Muse comes to mind.
The fuzz to me sounds great
going from talking about Top Gun and Jennifer Connely to the Flanger with a straight face - good editing!

I don't know. I have a bunch of Tone City Pedals and I don't even care for them anymore. The Phaser doesn't even work anymore.
It would be rad if there was a new, affordable version of the Boss '63 Fender Reverb pedal.

pete's just going through the motions in this one lol.
I dont know if it was Pete but the overdrive sounded very refined on the leads
Clearly we have a different definition of 'affordable'
Thankyou for showcasing these, I've not long started to get pedals to build a pedal board, these have intrigued me
Good on Fender for doing something generous for once.

These two dudes clearly have no idea about chorus. :D That chorus pedal was actually not bad.
why i continue to be surprised i need to lower the volume on andertons video's i don't know.
