I love the fact that Sara Barellies is the first artist Jessie says because a) I can always imagine Jessie singing her music and b) Sara is composing a musical that Jessie is set to workshop!
If you read Carole's autobiography 'Natural Woman' (I can't recommend it highly enough) you'll find she's a fan of Sara Bareilles too, kind of in the same way James Taylor and Carole are fans of each other, to this day (without James' and Lou Adler's belief in Carole as an artist the world might never have known her as the performing legend she is); and as you'll see, if you watch the slightly longer form footage of the night Carole surprises the 'Beautiful' cast on stage, Carole and Jessie are fans of one another too. I think Carole is genuinely proud of the way Jessie has portrayed her (not to mention that I think she's proud too, of everyone involved in the production; it's just that Jessie holds a special place because she plays her herself!) All of this, is in a word, 'beautiful', LOL! :-)))))))) ...
