Telstar | The Shadows Cover

- Originally a hit for The Tornados produced by the legendary Joe Meek.
This is my version of The Shadows take on it.
I used my Roland Chorus Echo for the part with the red Strat, then the Quadraverb2 on the "Telstar" setting with the Gretsch on the harmony part.
Amp wise it's my trusty 1964 Vox AC10 Twin which has just undergone some extensive surgery. I had the input resistors changed to 68k and a braided copper earth strap linking all points. I also had small caps put on both volumes to act like a treble bleed giving the amp some much needed top end. Other than that the amp is all original including the blue Elac speakers.
One of the best covers of TELSTAR I've heard on utube. Nice!
Thank you 👍🏼 😊

Hi Rufus, as a Shadfan i can say that you lift this music to a higher level, i can see and hear that you and your fiesta red fender are soulmates, with great respect for that "old music machinery" Many people here on youtube think that there playing very well, and sometimes its ok, but the "soul and feeling" it's missing mostly, You're great man, keep playing this way, friendly greetings from a 65y old belgium guy.
Hi Michel and thanks for the very kind words :)
Myself and that red Strat have been together since I was 10 years old. My wonderful and loving parents bought it for me as a christmas present 1984 and I will treasure it for the rest of my life. I learned to play the guitar by learning all The Shadows tunes so they will always have a place in my heart.
All the best.
Rufus.
Great playing as we can expect from you. Salute.

bonjour, je suis également intéressé par la BT. Est-ce possible de l'obtenir ? mon email est tbrun83@free.fr
Great playing
Daft question how do you film yourself playing to a backing track cheers
Not a daft question mate as it took me a long while and a lot of trial and error, because no one gave me advice. Therefore I had to figure it out on my own!!
Ok firstly you need to get the backing track you want to play along to.
Then practice it until you've got it off.
Then you mic up the amp, then set the video up.
You need to record the audio from the camera, plus the audio from either your mic'd up amp, or other devices such as plug ins or an external set up.
What I do is start everything running, so both the camera and the mic, then do a loud clap with my hands.
This creates a huge audio spike in your DAW, plus your camera audio.
Once you have done a take, you then move the audio, from your DAW, plus the video AND audio into your video editing software.
Then you line up the two peaks from your previous 'clap' so they are in time.
Once you have that you can delete the camera audio and insert the proper audio from your mix and everything will sound good.
I know this all sounds daunting because it took me ages to figure it out.
But once you've done it for the first time it all becomes second nature and then you can start with multiple cameras etc as long as you can get them lined up and in sync.
I'm not sure if that all comes across as easy to navigate, but if you need more advice I'll be happy to give it to you because no one showed me and I would have been really grateful for the help when I started out!!!
the enderman is famous
He looks dead!!!!
I remember that one... You do it better
Thanks mate.
I can remember hearing this tune for the first time when I was about 10 and was fascinated by it.
Been wanting to upload this for a while but all my gear keeps breaking LOL. That's what you get for using 50 plus year old equipment aargh!!!!
nicely played. Shame about the shockingly bad hat!
Ha ha ha thanks for watching anyway 👍
