It's very good and informative. You have covered all required topics about 2012 cluster in one Video. Thanks for your efforts.

"First thing to do is to add the failover cluster feature." This is NOT the first thing to do. NOT one video that I have found yet helps you configure the storage properly! The first thing you do is configure your storage! Lucky for Michael, he has already done so (but hasn't shown us what he's using) so while it works for him, it fails miserably every single time for me because no matter how I configure my storage it either doesn't see it, or it FAILs to initialize when adding the disks.

+Beau Hall Actually he explaining Windows cluster itself only............ Storage configuration will do by storage team......... As per windows administrator he just configured failover cluster

You said what I wanna say ... What do I need to prepare for creating a failover cluster? I found I need to prepare the storage first ... but It is not mentioned..

The first thing to do should be buying the servers themselves and connect the power cords to the mains, right?

I'd love to see the disk setup. I am using Vmware Workstation and I am trying to setup a SQL cluster. However I can't figure out the disk part. Do I create the logical drives on the computer that has one of the sql nodes and then make it available to the cluster? Do I need to create another vm with multiple drives and make those available for clustering? etc.

If I have different VMs between my hosts when creating the cluster, do I need to worry about the amount of HD assigned to each vm to avoid conflict during a failover?

before we can create cluster that must be preparation like disk, can you explain how to add disk, and what kind of disk that we can attach.

My cluster role goes offline and sometimes my disks go offline. I manually login to the server and start the role to bring the site back. I am new to windows and tried finding a reason for this but not able to. Can someone throw some light on troubleshooting the issue?. Thank you.

shall I share same vmdk between 2 virtual machine without Clustering. Assume I have Winserver01 with 200GB vmdk, I want to share same 200gb vmdk from Winserver01 --> Winserver02, so both server access same single 200GB drive. but dont want to do clustering.

    Hi !!
It seems simple but I stucked while craeting one for me. 2 node (Same server Model). I installe dnad configure Hyper V 2012 and Failover cluster in validation test everything passed except storage, I have created 2 LUN using HP fiber SAN and presented to both server. one 1 GB for Quorum and 200 Gb for CSV Disk. I can see in Disk mgmt r my computer on both server drive Q: Quorum and E: CSVDisk but when I add the disk in cluster it immidiatly failed and comes in reserved state in Disk managment also. error is Virtilization Disk manager diaglog box with msg the resource is in use . I tried Cler-ClusterDiskreservation -Disk and it allows me to add disk again to cluster but again failed with same stste. Please advise

Hello, I have 2 Hyper-V's for home / office use, each has their own storage, the PDC sits on one of the notes and I can live migrate between the 2 servers if i need to reboot etc. Can shared storage exists between the 2 servers i.e. I don't have a dedicated data server?
    Kind regards
    Dave

When I did my cluster using vmware fusion 5; Clustering needed 3 different cards on each of the nodes. One for domain controller connectivity and another one with different subnet for redundancy/node talking and a third one also on a different subnet for iSCSI. Then the cluster checking came all with tick marks and no problems.
only domain controller needed 2 NICs: one for damin subnet and another subnet for iSCSI

what configurations do I need to set up first before creating a cluster? adds, dns, dhcp and you know, that kind of stuff.
I have to do a clean installation and configuration for a homework and I just want to make sure not to include stuff that isn't necessary

As I know Microsoft strongly recommends to use the same OS on all nodes.

You can create (or use) a WS2012R2 Cluster and ADD a WS2016 node and, once all your nodes are WS2016, rise the functional level to WS2016 cluster, as Microsoft says in the post below, because yo can add a WS2016 clean installation server.

Congratulations on the video, excellent. Ask me a question if possible. I'm taking over the company's IT management and in that company there is a lame failover cluster. I would like to destroy the cluster and relocate to be able to use the nodes as a standalone. What happens to the CSV after I destroy the cluster? Is there a risk that I will lose the data that is stored in the CSV? Thanks

SAS, iSCSI, or Fibrechannel, SAN, DAS, JBOD. There are several configurations that work.
