- Sixteen-year-old Sydney McLaughlin of Dunellen is a track superstar who is headed to the Olympics! She's the youngest American track athlete to head to the Olympics in 44 years. She's the pride of Union Catholic High School, of New Jersey -- and of the USA.
At the entrance to the Scotch Plains school, there are posters showing Sydney racing and the moment she qualified for the Olympics including her qualifying time 54:15. She holds the world junior record of all time and has the fourth-fastest time for the 400-meter hurdles going to the Rio 2016 Olympics.
Sibile chased Sydney to her high school and spoke to her coach. Mike McCabe started working with her when she was a freshman.
"After a couple weeks of training I could tell that she was unlike anybody I've ever coached or seen before," said McCabe.
McCabe hopes Rio will be the first of many Olympics for Sydney.
Her secret? She works HARD! The harder she works, the 'luckier' she gets.

Sydney is a Super STAR, period. *But, what makes her really superior is the down to earthy kindness she shares.*
