Liquor Cabinet with SAFE "CRACKING" ROBOT!

- I made a liquor cabinet out of an old safe. I used an Arduino and a stepper motor to "crack" the safe combination using a keypad rather than turning the dial by hand. Cheers!

Thats cool, would be even cooler if everything would be hidden in the door and the knob turned seamsinly by itself :)
you can use magnets to secure the device to the door
I totally thought you were gonna put the hardware on the inside when you showed all that space
Thought about it, not sure why I didn’t.
Super cool project!
Such a cool project!!!
Yeah that's not a clickbait title at all.... good one, Mike! Would be cool to see this on a better safe, but the proof of concept is slick!
That was pretty cool, man!
That's really awesome! I want to make one now :)
Cool project, so many possibilities. At a server to turn the handle.
Use an RFID card instead of a PIN, project approved.
Ohh cool idea. Really any input could be swapped for the keypad.
I'll drink to that. Love how you never play it safe!
Now comes the fireball!
Switch out the easy driver for a tmc 2208 or 2130. You can make it nearly silent. The 2208 is easier to use. Another option is the 2100
loved it need more
Super cool project. For your next project, it'd be cool if you set Alexa or Google to open the safe for you like you did with the voice controlled dust collection and recording setup.
Great idea
That's freaking awesome
BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!
You mentioned you would share how you used other arduino project parts to meet these requirements... Can you link to that?
It's cool! Dressing the exterior mechanism up with a Steampunk theme could be another project.
Definitely.
That’s cool. Good thing you drank after the build.
That's neat.
pretty sweet
Cool!
Where you get time for all your projects?🤔🥇 Salud🥃
Never gonne change that Code, gonna steal you Booze! Ha!
People, when a word is in quotes, it means 'not really'. "Cracking" means it isn't really cracking the safe. Very cool project.
Cool!! would be nicer if the motor was inside and moving like magic ;)
That is thinking outside of the safe.
So this is a automatic safe dialer? Not a safe cracking robot.
Mike, where's the shot chiller?!?!
It actually made it to the new shop! That project is actually important that I finish because it’s one that I gave up on for no particular reason. I’ve quit projects before when they weren’t going like I hoped, but that one was going great and I just never finished it.
Would be neat to reprogram it to sequentially try every possible combination until it comes upon the correct one, then see how long it takes to open.
I thought about it. The only hurdle would be finding a way to see if the combination is correct. It would need to turn the knob open and get feedback whether or not it could turn all the way.
So, the key here is to not forget the keypad code...
Hahaha. Achievement unlocked... drunken Mike will thank you.
Hey, can you come to my school and put one of these on my locker?
What's wrong with day drinking!?
When I sober up, I'm going to be totally jealous!!!
My greatest nightmare of locked up booze has been solved.... brilliant !!!
Put your costa rican stash in there.
What’s a saw za? Pretty sure it’s a saws all. Haha
Ok, I was expecting some "cracking". This feels like you just took an old safe and made it digital. I mean you can buy a digital safe that same size from Harbor Freight (when its on sale) for the about the same price as what you paid for all your materials. Granted it won't have that geeky cool factor but still. I mean considering all the effort you put into this and the amount of space on the back of the door it seems it would have been cooler to make it more integrated.
cracking a safe with steppers isn't allowed on youtube. It's too effective and achievable. Safe manufacturers are in panic mode and need to introce a time-out like atms and passwords. 1oo failed attempts and come back in an hour would suffice.
This video is a work around to demonstrating how it could be done. Even if it would take a months, it is still profitable.
By calling it a cracking robot I was expecting something with a microphone listening to the clicks to break the code. Still really cool though.
dexuus I was thinking that too! That would've been awesome!
Wondertul
Dont worry about knowing how to code... there hasnt been a new line of code written in like 50 yrs...
🍸🍸🍸
There’s no point in changing the code. You showed us the combo on the dial

That really is impressive....I could feel your success! Unfortunately, I never got into Arduino. I grew up “Mac” and it seemed Arduino was more for PC peeps! But I have to say the freedom to create almost ANYTHING sounds exciting! Thanks for the inspiration!! Lauri

Do you ever hear this when you get home ... You spend how much on what?? Arggggggggggggggggggggg!!!

This isn’t a safe cracking robot you click bait sons of batches!!!!
