in the late 90's early 00's there was a craze where people would make a hole in the nail and have little charms dangling off them, especially on the little finger. I don't know if this was the same for everywhere else but it was for around where I live
Wrong so wrong! Where are the colored tips? Wild Designs and patterns? Gel nails? Air brush? Rhine stones? Longer nails. You made the nails trend look so dull.
Same. How can you really pinpoint one or two styles for a whole year, let alone decade? I've been following nail artists on Instagram for a while now and trends come and go and I couldn't decide on one "winner" of the year if my life depended on it. I realize back then trends weren't as fluid but it sure as hell is inaccurate to pick out one style and call it the style of a whole decade.
+subwayvesubscriber yea, the only thing I can thing of is, long acrylics and that's in every size, shape, and color and acrylics aren't even the mainstream there is no mainstream 😂
Well, the 90s one was wrong. In the early 90s the goths wore the dark red, no one else. I had acrylics that were incredibly long (they got that right) & there was definitely nail art (rhinestones, bangles, polish swirls) but no dollar bills like Lil' Kim. I'd say long french manicures were MOST common from '95-99.
miyena okay lol can you please grow up? This was a very immature and arrogant reply. My comment was constructive criticism and I’m sure I wasn’t the only viewer who felt the way I do.
miyena - in a nail video we should be able to get a decent look at nails which includes close ups and similar camera shots. Maybe seeing the hands do something like flipping a book or other things you see in this video would be nice every once in awhile. It was a simple mistake that maybe they never considered. Once again, my comment was constructive criticism and I’m sorry that it offended you.
If they can't even get the current nail trends right (nude, square or coffin) then it makes me question completely whether they got the previous year's even remotely close..hmmm🤔
Honey it is 100 years of nails and not what teenager wore in xxx. The fact that this is a trend among 14-27 means close to nothing with this age group not making even 50% of population
Same as some one who never does anything to their nails but paint and trim them I found this interesting. I can't stand wearing fake nails, just feels like they get in the way. I usually keep them short and just paint them whichever color I feel like at the moment, nothing fancy.
In which case, how's short and holographic for a change of pace? Our fellow RUclipsr +SimplyNailogical has some vids reviewing frosts prismatic and otherwise.
1980s always did the most. Love how over-the-top that decades was. Loved 1950s. I rocking "squoval" matte cherry red at this moment. Red will always be in style.
To be honest the 2000s were all about French tip but it was already shown in the 70s. Which I think is stupid because it was started in the 70s but became mainstream in the 2000s. The 70s were about the shimmery nails like the ones they showed in the 60s and the 60s should’ve been pastel or some sort
I just LOVE how unique and beautiful all of these trends are, and every time one of these videos reaches the 80s section I fall in love! Whether it’s hair colour, nails, makeup trends, the 80s always takes it to the next level and is about experimentation, which I LOVE so much. All the bright, beautiful colours! I love how we get to experiment today too 😁
The 1920's nails (moon manicures) are beautiful. Dita Von Teese has that type of manicure (she had them for a few years straight) and I feel like she could be the one to bring them back 💅
What is the style where all the nails on one hand have the same color but one? I've been seeing that a lot in the past few years! I was expecting to see that here.
It doesn't necessarily have to more extravagant, it's just to get some 'life' to your manicure... It's also easier to do, since then you have the same design on 8 of your nails, while two sticks out. You can have exciting nails, but it's still somewhat subtle ;) And, yes, it's the accent nail xD
I remember being a teenager in the late 80's' very early 90's and I did all sorts of funky things to my nails. I drew with a Sharpie on them for designs.
Long red and almond shape is muh fave. This vid makes me want to get back into long red nails. TBH they became an obsession when I first watched Tweeny Witches where the main character Arusu had these beautiful long red nails. Though I still wanna keep sporting these long black nails of mine, I just applies a new coat =P
was it just me or did the 60s nails not match the description? it said they were square and pearly peachy colors but they looked almond and gold... hmm
I was alive through most of the 60s and I can tell you that no woman I ever saw had any nail shape but oval or almond, and my grandmother owned a beauty shop I spent A LOT of time sitting in. They are right about light polishes, though. All the ladies wore frost/shimmer pink or peach, the trendy ones wore frosty white. I grew up playing on a manicure table in a salon filled with trade magazines and I never once saw a square or acrylic nail before Cher's on The Sonny and Cher show in the early 70s. The first set of acrylics I got in 1980 were all white acrylic. Even back then the nail salon had nail charms for sale. They were the kind that go through a hole drilled in the free edge of the nail and attach with a screw-on back under the nail tip. This video is way off on some of the history like embellished nails, for example. In the early 90s I was wearing long acrylic overlays with AMAZING nail art including foils, striping tape, nail gems and one time I had a hand-painted, continuous tropical sunset beach scene on all ten nails.
2010s are the most creative years in history cuz look what we have, Sponge on ombré nails Silhouette trees or patterns on sunset or dawn Water marble Silver or gold powder Matt white shimmer powder Stamps Gel nails Long pointy dark nails like claws Coffin nail shape with raw colours French tips with Russian art 50 layered acrylic Polish mountain Sticking on beads and studs Plastic marble Holosexuality Nail spray Multiple reflecting nail polish Using straps for patterns Gradient Nail vinyls Chrome coloured nails Matte Matte quilted Galaxy Sticking tiny fake flowers in between layers of gel polish Scenario snapshots Man how many more?
I disagree and don't really like the 2016 one. I have not seen one person, in person or online, with those nail. In my opinion, many people wither have prints (like flowers) or a simple color with acrylic. A nude is the most common
My mom has accidental 1920 nails because she gets weekly manicures, but one of the things found that run in my family are VERY LONG AND FAST-GROWING NAILS, so.. yeah.... she rocks the style I guess
i feel like the 2000’s nails would be more like a square shaped french tip
em trbl Yes! The french acrylics were the must-have AND the American-manicure came soon after. Who did this research? They didn’t study ...
em trbl yessss thats exactly what I thought
@@Ang7.8 and 2016 should have been long coffin "cardi b" nails
Yes, because french tips were definitely the thing at that time.
black polish was also a big trend in the 2000's
I feel in the 2000s everyone did French manicures
Numble Mumble that’s what I was gonna say
Numble Mumble
That all I wore in high school
Copied
That what I was thinking too😍🔥
French and square. So ugly to look back on
I love how our "new nail trends" are not so new at all
I noticed that too, especially the half moon.
It's a circle, trends reinvent themselves 😊 it's pretty cool imo bc when they resurface there's often a modern twist to it
They just keep getting recycled. In the 90s the 70s came back, and now in 2016...the 90s are back. It's a cyclical thing, fashion.
Oh! I just read this after I posted mine, haha! Great minds....
+tkmaz Love 90's bands, so that's one thing that's worked out for me! Tb stuff.
What about French tips in 2000s?????
Seldi cjalliu je si rush
they showed them for the 1970s.
Yeah, but that trend started in the 70's not 2000's. Though it did occur in the 2000's but it's not really a new trend.
I am surprised the trend of four nails in one colour and the ring finger being another did not make this
I feel like that is still a trend. I know that when I was younger and gave myself a manicure, that was about all I did.
2016 nails are mainly acrylics with nude or white polish on
ikr
WRONG ITS CALLED HOLO 💿💿

Who remembers crackle nails tbh they used to be my favourite
I loved crackle
Omg yessss lol
Loved crackle nails!
Ok, but the moon manicures are actually gorgeous, I’d definitely consider getting them.
2000 french tip
2010 black for goth and emo
2015 for cutesy nail designs
2018 for long minimal or bold fake or long nails
I think the perception of black nails changed after 2005. It was trendy and still worn today. It was considered goth in the 90s.
in 2010 crackle nails were popular
