The best Rolleicord review I've seen - concentrating on the personality of the camera and its interaction with the photographer. Well done!

I've really waited for a RUclips video where someone really gets the Rollei -- You definitely do, especially your video comparing to the Hass; great insights

Very interesting. Have just bought a Rolleicord Va type 2. Looking forward to using it following your video. Thanks, Paul.

As a proud owner of a 2.8F the Rollei Mutar x 0.7 and 1.5 come highly recommend so long as you shoot above F4. These give you a little extra reach or width with minimal weight. The Rolleinar 1,2 and 3 are exceptional for close ups. Both Mutars and Rollinars increases the flexibility of this amazing camera.

The 2.8f is awesome. I'm sure the Rolleicord is too though, never tried one.

Incredible cameras, I have a Rolleiflex Standard 621 and I love it because it is a mix between the system of a current Rolleicord and but with the classic characteristics of a Rolleiflex that make it so user friendly.
There are 3 factors that make this camera my main choice for taking photos and these are the shutter release which is like a Rolleicord which allows for double exposures, the Tessar lens from the 30's which gives a soft and gloomy contrast , but with a lot of three-dimensionality and sharpness and finally the winding lever.
Without a doubt my favorite camera.

Wow that sounds great. They sound rare and must be hard to acquire!

There were many models of Rolleicords and Rolleiflexes, and there is a lot of information about particular models. In general, while the -flex 2.8 is a legend, some Rolleiflexes had worse lenses than the Xenar f/3.5 that you get with Rolleicord V, Va and Vb.

Thank you for a great comparison video and a very astute summary of the differences - the distinction between absolute and objective differences between the two lenses is spot on and anyone looking at these two cameras should ask themselves what they are hoping to accomplish with the camera. (For whatever it's worth I was a BFA photography undergrad - way back in the 90s - whose work-study job was in the photo labs at my college. From a fine art perspective, the technically less perfect lens of the Rolleicord can be a valuable tool in its own right).

Even after years of using TLRs, I still don't "get" the design philosophy behind it: why two lenses? It is said that Reinhold Heidecke (one of Rollei founders) had the inspiration while taking images of enemy lines from the German trenches during WW1. A periscope-like camera would be very useful in that situation.

The stock one isn’t great, but it’s an easy swap for an Olesson!

Interesting you rate the 35 mm Summilux Pre-ASPH only a 4 out of 10, yet it is one of the better Leica vintage lenses. You probably would rate the reissued steel rim a 3 or 2? LOL😂

Haha! What I meant was from a "technical" lens perspective.. In that sense the SR Reissue is more technically proficient! :)
