The Garmin 830 is great & looks great BUT it doesn’t have Climb Pro and in Winter / Rain the absence of BUTTONS is problematic… so the 840 is much better with ClimbPro & side buttons for when it rains s’or you’re wearing thick gloves
The edge 830 screen sucks in the mornings - it is extremely low contrast and then requires backlight, which then depletes the battery. This is the only reason I am thinking of switching.
Is it just the uk vs American west? I practically never replace BBs. They’re always smoothe even after thousands of miles. Especially headsets!? I’ve literally never replaced. 10000 miles: no issues. Even ones with a bit of grit feel turns quick and I don’t even notice when I’m riding.
I don't know what the hell I did, maybe it was manufacturer defect, but my Token Ninja BB3724 "Thread-together" GXP BB was ground to shit after just 2 years. I do an average about of cycling (5k/yr) I'm not putting World-Tour levels of power down, and I don't cycle in the rain. I expected more so you're fortunate, I guess not all BBs are created equal. Not even sure if the Ninja BB sealed bearings can be serviced, but I gave up and swapped it for a Kogel BB.
Nice to see industry journalists focusing on, and admitting the limited lifespan, and expense of headset bearings in bikes with fully integrated front ends.
Same 250 lumen brightness/waterproofness/brake sensor/usbc charger/warranty/customer service/innovation? Will the battery blow up? Also it's $75. Not a crazy price for a decent treat light that is dropper compatible. If everyone keeps buying shit from China that rip-off other's designs, there will be no innovative brands that support the bike industry.
@hansschotterradler3772 Actually I'd say my Yoeleo R12 frame (Chinese) matches up well with western frames 2 to 3 fold the price. Same with Winspace and others. Check it out, you get a lot for your money. Chinese wheels are really good now too.
What's your gear of the year? 👇
Thank you for your kind words! 🙌 We're honoured to have made the list! ⚡
I think the Skarper e-bike system sounds fantastic - definitely a game changer
I use one of those shoe dryers you have to put the shoes on top of, dries the shoes in like 20 mins. Very nice!
I wish the BR staff a good 2025! 👍
Thanks for watching and we wish you a happy new year from all at BikeRadar!
Get the skunklock that's pressurized with a skunk odor chemical if it's cut through...or the skunklock carbon which defeats all angle grinders.
Thanks for putting podcast on youtube. I dont have subscription on Spotify
Great to know and thanks for watching/listening - Felix

Agree 840 no solar, a year after it has been introduced for a good black friday deal ticks all the boxes 🙂
It does have climb pro!!!!
I ride in the dark so I'm backlit continuously & charge every couple of weeks worst case, I've covered 6600 miles this backlit
@@elleffeff the 840 is even dimmer. To have the equivalent of 20% backlight on the 830 you gotta go up to 40% on the 840…!
In 2018 I bought a Scott Addict Disc for $1500 out the door, today same bike is starts at $6000. WTF!
Same for my 2018 rim tcr
Now 12k in the same kit and heavier
Love my Scott addiction disk 10
There’s some serious sockage going on there boys 😮😮😂

Expensive helmets are no safer than cheaper ones. Imperial College London did tests, and the two best were Specialized MIPS helmets for approx £40.
bought the highest rated one as a result of that test, I paid £35 odd quid.

Where can buy a Garmin Edge 830 for 250 pounds as claimed by Ash ??
Lockpickinglawyer opening that lock in some seconds 😂
I am sorry but a $20 rear lights on Amazon will do all the thing that $100 Lezyne does.
You don't need to be sorry. These guys need to be told exactly what you say. I also use the saddle light in the cheap version.

I just buy cheap Chinese 💩 for clothing and other peripherals.
But I stick to name brand bikes, tires and shoes.

Until it breaks and there’s no after sales
I advise everyone to get a LITELOK X1....I have....Ha!
These guys definitely moan when they wipe
same as your mum
We still can't quite believe this insult is being used in 2025
