This is NOT the award-winning 1976 miniseries. This is a 2007 flop of the same name.

On SYBIL, thank you! I'm thinking "Is THAT Sally Field? Naw. Maybe it is her. No. " Now I know: This is the wrong film! I have NO clue!

    *Buyer Beware*
This is not the 1976 version as advertised, but rather the 2007 or 2008 version. That being said, BOTH very well done with great performances. Well worth the watch!

This is not the original but to be honest if u are gonna have two Actresses, they both are AMAZING Jessica Lange is a person that could turn into anyone u ask in a second thats how amazing she is one of my favorite movies is when she plays a military wife with Bi polar she played it as if she was the woman trying her hardest to make her husband happy yet her mental illness just did not let her see how she made him look bad it broke my heart watching that movie cuz she became the woman she was playing and not that many actors make u forget who they are and u truly believe the person they are playing but tbh Jessica tends to do that in all her movies shes just that AMAZING

I think you’re talking about Blue Sky. I have heard about it but have not seen it yet. I’m going to watch it today. Thanks for the recommendation. Jessica was also good in Frances. The true story about the old Hollywood actress Frances Farmer. Her mother was crazy and had her put in an institution. It’s been a while since I saw that but I remember Jessica Lange’s acclaim for that movie too.

The title here is wrong. This is the 2007 TV movie. The 1976 TV movie starred Sally Field. It won some TV Emmy Awards and is rated higher on IMDB. I only saw the Sally Field version, and wanted to watch, it again.

The 2 part TV movie was in total 198 minutes. Debuted on November 14, 1976. Each episode was 99 mins.
The VHS version was cut down to 187 mins.

This is the 2007 version with Tammy Blanchard, not the 1976 with Sally Field.
Both versions are excellent. Each shows a different part of Sybils life.

This isn't the 1976 Sybil movie because that starred Sally Fields, and she isn't Sally Fields.
    Rename your title.

This is not the original 1976 Sybil, but this is a pretty accurate portrayal of MPD (now called Dissociative Identity Disorder - DID), which I have been diagnosed with. This movie portrays the symptoms in a more exaggerated way than how I experience them, but all the main symptoms and concerns/distress that I experience every day are portrayed quite accurately here. This movie resonated with me. If someone was studying about DID this would be a good overview in 85 minutes. Many of the symptoms are exaggerated and condensed to make it movie length, but the way switching, flashbacks, having different skill sets, voices (inside and out), intrusive thoughts, nightmares, and distress about feeling "crazy" are all very real experiences for many people with DID. The nesting dolls were a wonderful example of how it feels to live with DID. Thank you for trying to accurately portray this complicated mental illness.

I have been a counselor and have been for 25 years. Sybil’s case is not an exaggeration.
Emily, you are trying to gain sympathy for yourself, through Sybil’s illness. That’s not cool. That is called, “fictitious disorder” or “Munchausen syndrome”.

This is inaccurate. The title says it's the original movie from 1976-1977. But it's not. It's the 2007 remake, which was terrible imho.

This movie was very good. The psychiatrist wanted to make all the personalities the same age so she could come together and fight her illness, and understand and admit what happened. Her dad was no help in simply ignoring his daughters evil treatment by the mother.
Very good movie by very good actress. Thank you.
