Been building WW2 aircraft models since I was 10. I’m 56 now. Some of the techniques you were using are the kind of a things that only a master modeler would come up with. I guess it comes natural to people like us. You do awesome work and I love your videos.
it's craft and art blended, but I know what you mean. Parts of it like the finish involve paint, and last time I checked artists use that stuff too. If course, what passes for "art" today....I can understand why some would object to that term being associated with this man's work. No this is definitely not a just a "pile of bricks" in the middle of a gallery floor, for one of the "least offensive" examples!!! …….The fine artists of old, certainly yes!!
@@ronschlorff7089 Yep. I used to build models years ago and I even thought I was pretty good. This guy though is on a completely different level; he's a Modelling Artist... "The very model of a modern model artist". (Apologies to the writer whose song I've just hashed up.)
@@GarrisonFall I understand, I've been building models since I was kid many years ago. Off and on, more on lately now that I'm retired, but I'm way behind this guy in his 20's, but I'll keep on trying my best; that's all we can do, and pick up tips and techniques from the more talented among us who are kind enough to share!! :)
I watch what other modelers are doing and then watch your videos again.. They are nowhere near the level that you take your models. You are a true master.
I love the concept of this build--a fighter plane being serviced for maintenance and re-arming, if those are the right terms...brilliantly conceived and brilliantly executed in every detail. Masterful craftsmanship. Simply amazing.
UNBELIEVABLE! I've yet to see anything which you have touched not coming out looking like an artist was commissioned by a museum for a life like representation of that particular aircraft. Simply amazing!
I enjoyed this as one would enjoy the latest blockbuster movie. I slowly and mindlessly ate popcorn as I stared dumbfounded at such incredible art. So so so very enthralling.
Omg, does this video bring back some great memories! My first real model kit, was a Tamiya Tiger tank, I spent most of the winter putting it together, makes me think of things from my youth. Thank you for the stroll down memory lane.
I enjoy watching your modeling vids, your techniques and styles are incredible. Plus picking up a few tips along the way is an added bonus. Bravo on the 51
Remember the movie "Honey I Shrunk the kids "? This should be titled Honey I shrunk a Mustang, pilot & crew chief! Absolutely amazing proudly the finest build I've ever seen. I've been watching a long time. That model looks like it could fly right off the screen. My complements to you.
Greetings from Latvia! one of my grandfathers was a red army soldier from Pskov (Russia), he stormed nazi positions in Prague, after his mission was complete he was sent to Latvia ( 1944 courland pocket ) he was the artillery squad or batalion commander, germans made an ambush and killed 2 of his friends and they wanted to take him alive so they surrounded him but he tried to take some germans with him and threw some grenades at them and when he tried to back off the shrapnel got in his back BUT other soviets were not far away so they arrived just in the moment and eliminated those nazis and saved him, he was sent to the hospital where he found my grandmother. He actually lived almost til year of 2000 but with shrapnel in his back ( his last years were terrible he lost all the memory, got paralyzed),
Another amazing build! One technical point, the mustang inner undercarriage door close up again once the gear is down to prevent debris entering on take off and landing. They only open briefly to allow the wheel in and out. You would see less detail though I suppose.
Yes, that is true but you can also manually open undercarriage door. You are absolutely genius in what you do! Love your videos actually I spent my last three days wathing YT and your videos when I discovered you. Brilliant!!
For me paintbrush and airbrush modeling, its like 2 different hobbies. When you get enough of paintbrush you discover completely different experience :)
Excellent build...a few technical issues on this (no rivets on wing and silver painted wings not polished aluminum) but other than that flawlessly reproduced.
If I may humbly make a suggestion: the plexiglass of the canopy could use a little "distressing" IMO. Perhaps it is but doesn't show in the pictures. Beautiful as always. I'm astonished to see how many products are now available to model builders. When I was at it in the late 50's and early 60's paints and tools were very basic or non-existent. No photo etching, no beautiful flat paints, textures, washes, glue applicators, etc.....You have mastered your hobby. Bravo
I've watched your vids many times, I know what it takes to make really really good models. Every time I see a new video of yours all I can say is, that I can't say anything, I'm pretty much speechless, and I mean that incredible. Thank you soo much for sharing the process. The only complaint I have is, there is soo much detail in your work that when pan across the finished models go a little slower so we can take in all the details!! lol. Bravo
Dude, keep going, your activity is very inspiring. I am a musician, but need sometimes to chill and your videos were significant for me. I decided to make my own model instead of playing video games. Thank you.
That's fantastic. I'm getting back into the hobby and I would love to have you do videos and talk through what your doing, why, how, what to look for, what not to do, etc. I just feel like Ill never get to this level. Like the other guy said ...this is art!
Nice detail, the antenne wire through the canope. I didn't even know that the mustang had that. I had to carefully look at pictures of mustangs on google to see that was correct. Very nice job on the build.
I looked it up and saw there where some P-51's that did. Amazing, I can believe I had never noticed that before. Live and learn I guess. Beautiful model and excellent build.
Que trabajito.... y que poco simple que viene. Es todo un trabajo mental para espabilarse hacer eso, además de tener las herramientas necesarias. Arte Zen.
I bet you can wire neurons in a mouse brain. Stunning detail !! Honestly I'm stuck at about 25% of your quality level and people compliment my work. Seeing yours mine is blah. But my 66 year old hands are still fairly steady. Thanks. Allow me to comment. Actually I'd have to personally say this is one of the best weatherings of a P-51. Sometimes it seems over done on too many of these planes of the era. Those of us who have seen Warbirds at air shows have to admit, though not having flown 50 sorties, there's not dirt and grime in every seam.
It is one of the best made mustang model I have ever seen, except that historically, 8th AF mustangs did not have that antenna cable installed through their canopy.
It's such a pleasure to watch from start to the finish results of the artist in this clip. And to the Artist, thank you for sharing, your perfectionism will be inspired by many...including myself. With respect and thanks to RUclips.
I'm not 9ne to watch a model get built but this was something else you have the hands of a brain surgeon! Well done, if I ever wondered who does the models at the museum... now I know. Nothing short of a grand master.
I used to think I was pretty good at this hobby, then I saw your stuff, especially this model and I realized I need to just build Lego's from now on. You truly are an artist and I sure love watching your videos. Now I'm going to Walmart and buy some Lego's. LMAO! 😂
Amazing as usual !! I learn so much just watching your videos. I have not build any models for about 20 years, so now you've just gave me the need to start again. What kind of airbrush could you advise me to buy ? And what glue ?
Okay, that's not too bad I suppose.....Oh hell who am I kidding, that was just awesome !!!! Everything from the music, the building, the modifying, the painting and the weathering was just superb if not perfect. Well done David, another brilliant model and one to be proud of too. Have fun with your next project, Joe
Really gorgeous build. Love it and thank you for all the information. I’m probably going to build 1/72 scale, but this really makes me think bigger. The amount of detail you brought out of that kit is incredible. 👍👍🇨🇦

This not model building... this is art.
Nelson Villegas No you must have clicked on the wrong video this is model building
Model building is art

Great one!!
PLASMO - plastic models very nice
Holy plastic, this is awesome :) WELL DONE
I have watched enough of your videos to know the end result is going to be fantastic - but still I am amazed at the detail and finish.
My eyes cross up just thinking about all of the detail work involved in hand carving panel lines and rivets. Woof. Great work.
You’d cry at what I did with model kits when I was a child. This was a real pleasure watching you. Such skills. Thank you.
Absolutely amazing
thanks

im totally blown away, you have taken modeling to a completely different level.Wow, wow, wow well done.
Seems the word PERFECTION was coined for works like this.
Kudos.
Thanks.
Turned a run of the mill model into something people like me can only dream about. Bravo my gifted friend.

Just beautiful! Especially love how you did the metallic steel colour, I can never get that right.
The clear enamel paint part was stunning.
This guy is the superhero of model making. My god this is incredible work and tech.

Simply breathtaking finesse and brilliant technique
The P51 has always been my favorite plane and you did it justice, well done sir!!!
I agree with Nelson this is art, the P51 is my favourite WWII fighter.
The battery Dremel and different heads really help a lot now with trimming, cutting and buffing surfaces.

The amount of detail is amazing on the P-51 Mustang
Your micro skills are crazy!!!!!!............just amazing craftsmanship!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely stunning! I've seen mustangs up close in real life that didn't have this much detail.
It's astonishing to watch this series. (and your other videos) Your work is first-class, in every way. Thanks for sharing your methods with us!
My models never ended up like this... my god what amazing work.
I've stopped making models. Now I just sit and spend my time watching you do yours...! Nice job :)

Superb attention to detail.
Ganz großes Kino. Spitzenarbeit. 👏👏
