Lived here for 6 years on the point from 1972 to 1978 then moved down the road apiece to Little Rincon for another 5 years. Halcyon days!!!
Rincon and Malibu are the two best surfing spots in America in my view.

Surfed with more people than this in the rain last week 😅 I would do anything to surf with a mellow crowd like this at the queen nowadays

I have had a few of those waves on winter trips -- and it really is hard to score one when there are so many people all trying to take off on the same wave
is it better to get one long one or lots of short rides on lesser crowded waves? nothing worse than paddling & burning out your arms and getting skunked

Why do some people think it’s ok to drop in on someone and kick out after 3 seconds? It’s not. You’re still ruining the shape of the wave for someone, and it’s dangerous. People like that need to be taught a hard lesson.

Insane waves but the crowds are a killer. I've been out there 2 hours and caught one wave. There just aren't any empty waves to drop in on.
Gotta ride a log or, rather, a SUP board and sit super deep to actually get a wave out there.

Thomas Kloster ehhh not super often, summer is usually pretty flat, but it really comes alive in the fall/winter.

Nice swell. California paradise lost - halcyon days are long gone and the overpopulation is truly heartbreaking.

Last time I went past Kirra - which is a better wave than this when it's working - I counted 200 people out, crushing the break. That's the reason I finally gave it away. We had the best years - '60's, early '70's. Those days are long gone. Yes, I surfed Hawaii. Other places too. The dream's over. It's gone.

Artic surfing is still uncrowded;) Just expand your horizons a bit and you find it uncrowded
I get my waves in Los Angeles. Plenty waves for me. That's all i know. Yes its crowded. I think its about understanding the crowd factor (how bad is it really?) And being able to make SMART adjustments. (surf one sand bar over from the crowded peak, #2 on a big day, surf the uncrowded inside, or the far outside, #3 wait one hour, then paddle out, this worked in Indonesia for me.) I find Indo to be unbearably crowded. Just ridiculous. So its about being smart, knowing when it is TOO crowded vs just having to surf with a bunch of guys out. There is a difference.

Rincon is a fun wave but it gets too crowded. Guys drop in on you all the time. No fun.
great video with a lot of good surfers. hate the guy that drops in and then won't pull out but hopes the other guy can pass him...dick
Same dropping in can be an honest mistake but if you dont fix that problem you just created thats shitty

Study it closely Brian, you have it backwards, The longboarder was deeper, he passed the other guy as he was trying to drop in on him. It was his wave and he had no reason to kick out.
