He IS a Scottish turned Aussie.... As I'm sure he LOVES both countrys the same. Eric started writing songs and poems since age 8, and started his music career while still a teenager back in Scottland in a band.
Bogles songwriting and performing really only started in Australia after he migrated here. I've seen him perfom this song a few times. I'm glad these peformersgave it a go. Nothing compares to Erics performance though.
Love having made the pre-amps in both of those accoustic guitars. Australian made for Australian guitars. Great song too! This song should be played for ANZAC Day.
Nice work guys. Wally, so impressed with you for this. Anonymous sharing time: I was forced to listen to this being sung by Slim Dusty as a kid but here I am googling now as an adult and getting a little misty eyed. Love to hear it again some time live and I'd probably be singing along :-) and weeping like a frikkin sook lol
I love the way they sung this song. But, I'm not happy at the fact that they changed some words and missed out a WHOLE verse..... Apart from that I love it.... Taking it in turns to sing a verse... Great idea. The guy who played the drums... Got TWO FACTS WRONG..... Eric came to Australia in the late 1960s. He WAS 25 years old when he moved to Australia. NOT 39 years old. Don't believe me!? Look on Eric bogle's website.
I am somewhat of a purist when it comes to this song, so I am a bit disappointed that the second verse was dropped, but the rest of the lyrics are actually pretty spot on, unlike most of the versions you see now, (check the lyrics from Eric Bogle, vice the Fureys, Dropkick Murphys and others). I also give major props to these musicians for even knowing about this song, and frankly, giving a pretty nice performance of it. It took no small amount of courage to sing this for an audience that was likely expecting something very different.
Great song by Eric Bogle, mudered by this lot!!
Absolutely terrible version
They murdered it, don't even the words
Still come back to this every Anzac day (ish) - they were a little unpractised but their voices esp Wally's just make this my favourite version.

I also wish he'd said about Eric was from Scotland. A lot of people think this song is Irish.
@@jimmythejock4376 To be fair, probably a lot of people only know the Fureys version so they probs think that's the original.
this song is impossible to hate.
He immigrated to Australia in the 70s (I think). Brilliant singer/songwriter.
I wonder if the crowd or even the muso's know what this song is actually about?
Classic Rogers!
nice version
Y do i love u so much gotye?
Wally looks so young!
"You see what privileges being King of Pop gets you?"
Wait...what did that Tim guy say when he pointed to Wally and said "King of Pop"? O.o
Clare-are you my long lost twin ;}
This is one of my favourite songs but I absolutely hated this version. They completely changed the words and and left out the entire 2nd verse.

his vocals are to good.....every song he sings is perfect...
Totally Butchered, Have some respect. Sung with no feeling, do you understand what this song was about.
Terrible version of a classic and written by a Scottish legend!
