Ha I love where ya gonna share your street yard or neighborhood area well unless you live where it’s cokd and I’m from Hoover Alabama and now I live in Mountain room mines here in 2014 hated it but if it weren’t for me moving here I would t have met my really good best tomboy friend/crush Rumsey who I really like at first I didn’t really like her or really know her but accepted her as a person and class mate then after we hung out at the Halloween block party last year we became really good or best friends and I did like it when I would be listening to music and she would talk to me plus before she got a car and when I would wait on the corner at the high school for my dad she would come down and talk to me plus so the same thing as me wait but I’ve been giving her too much attention not as much as I used to but maybe still a tad too much and she doesn’t respond as much like she used to but she still likes me and respects me and I think she still has a crush on me to because like it says above I would ask her if she’s busy or if she wants to hang
And she would say sorry I can’t or or yeah I’m busy and at first when I thought she was busy then I for some reason thought that she was just saying that because I was annoying so I was pretty surprised when she asked me if I want to skate with her

I watched this the day before going ice skating and I thought it was going to be so easy. It wasnt. They make it look easy but man the amount of times I fell over. I had to use a plastic penguin that i stole to hold onto to prevent myself from falling lol. I kinda got the hang of it in the end but I still needed the penguin for support. My feet hurt so bad as they created friction against the skating shoes so I had a massive blister. Seeing little kids who can skate well was pretty demotivating tbh and to top it all off there was this dude who was showing off to everyone and going really fast. Like oKAY we get it you can skate. (I'm jealous i know) Tldr; I dont think I'll be doing it again for a while.

I know it's been a year but don't give up you can do this. I know how annoying it is when a little kid can do something better than you can and there will always be people flexing their skills to others. But consider that both the kids and the people that seem so confident started out just like you. They have been in your position and aren't judging you. Also there's no shame in using a penguin or holding onto the edges to keep your balance after all that's what the penguins are made for.
Anyway sorry for the big wall of text and I wish you good luck on your skating endeavours.

i know this comment is three years old but i hope you try skating again! i know its so discouraging to see a little kid be better at something than you are. i get it, i felt discouraged too. plus there's always going to be show-offs, nothing we can do about that. but guess what, nobody was born with blades on their feet. more than likely, they started off falling on their faces, but learned eventually. you could be just like them! stay persistent, focus on your own progress, and don't give up! i don't know you but i know for a fact that you are perfectly capable of skating gracefully across the ice.

    Ice skate:
Make sure your skates are on properly(tight)
    2 edges inside and outside
    Mainly use inside
Knees bent just over toe caps of your skates
    Skates shoulder with apart
Keep your chest up shoulders square
    Moving:
    Use right skates to push
    Needs to be bent back
Majority of weight goes to left skate.
    Push off
Most weight on left using proper form.
Move your chest to your left foot
Knees bent push with right lift your right leg up and then stand up knee bent

I've had balance issues for years now in my 20s due to rare vertigo, and I can still ice skate incredibly well and play hockey. Anyone questioning yourself to become a good ice skater really needs to believe in themselves. I did physical therapy for 6 months and dreamed of playing one day again and I finally did, with tears of joy in my eyes. Believe me, if I can do it, so can you.

I went ice skating. After 1 hour, I managed to skate without holding onto the wall but i got too excited and then fell on my face 🤕😅. You have to take it slow after you managed to overcome the initial fear and balancing problem. Slow and steady.

    • @flaiirenn
      @flaiirenn Год назад

glad you learned! it really is a mental thing at first. the courage to get off the wall and on the rink is the most important step in my opinion. i was so afraid of falling when i first started, but the fear of falling is way worse than actually falling for sure! baby steps and practice can take anyone far. and hey, at least you fell forwards and not backwards.

I've been a few times, and I'm not getting any better. I'm beginning to suspect that rental skate blades aren't ground with the n shape, and are actualy either flat or slightly rounded with age. this is the only reason I can come up with to explain how rental skates can slide sideways more than forwards when pushing diagonally away with the trailing foot.
Add to that, that my friend used to skate well, flash forward 20 years and she's wobbling around with her ankles leaned in so she's able to use the inside edge and her toes pointed out. She can do this because she has very dainty ankles and size 7 rental skates, while being the right foot length are almost too loose around her ankle. For me a 9 or 10 is okay for foot length but a little tight around the ankle allowing little to no lateral ankle articulation, much like a snow boarding boot.
I'm thinking either buy skates or give it up LOL
