This middle aged guy right here has been trying to improve my skating, and this is exactly what I needed. I’ve been trying to work on skating backwards and my hockey stop as well.

Can you comment on how your mobility is or is not restricted once you’re in pads? I can’t tell if my gear just isn’t fitted right or if I am just a bad/stiff skater
I first watched this video when I was getting back into skating a month back, I'm very much beginner level. It didn't really make sense to me and seemed a bit pointless compared to other more aggressive drill videos...I tried to egg and couldn't, so gave up. Then this weekend, I was trying to learn to undercut and crossover and realised the c cut with undercut portion of this video, so I tried to egg and could and suddenly I realised how good this video is at getting you used to doing things that you'll use in more advanced moves. Now it's part of my routine every time I go (apart from the superman 😂)
@@MarcelsHockeySchool have you done more drills like these focused on the skating aspect? For crossovers and skating backwards for example. Of all the videos I've been watching, yours and Coach Jeremy's seem to get through to me most 😂
im 24 and i started skating in Jan i want to be able to play hockey because i have a lotta friends who love it and i wanna give it shot and my dad played hockey growing up so thanks for the help
I've been skating on and off for years, played a little rec hockey but never enough to be any good at it (it's not big in the UK and there's not many rinks). I turned 40 this week and treated myself to some new skates and went to the rink for the first time in a decade. Public skate sessions are always counter clockwise so all my drills are way better in one direction than the other which is really annoying and I was stuck at the same level, never really improving. I am very quick over the ice when moving counter-clockwise, but clockwise I don't seem to have confidence in my edges and I quickly start wobbling or the skate starts skidding and bouncing. I took a lot away from this vid and I can't wait to get back to the rink and start trying them out and improving.
Glad I could help out! Yeah I know how it is with just one direction at public skating. I try to find a corner or got right to the middle circle with some people who I coach, so we stay out of the way but still can work the other direction.
