    Have to disagree Doctor. Generally Intermittent Fasting means skipping one or two meal. You save the Calories of the Skipped meals. Eating small meals make you crave for more food. Fasting is a Age old and tested Method of well being. It can never harm you. Fasting gives the desired Result in 90% of the people.

    • @mananthakrishnan
      @mananthakrishnan Год назад +9

      Raghu NK, One need not skip any meal, if fasting is for 12-14 hours with an eating window of 12-10 hours, which is adequate time to have breakfast, lunch and dinner. What needs to be skipped is snacking in between meals. Decent weight loss can be achieved by limiting calories intake to about 1500 per day in a balanced way with carbs, protein, fat and fibre. Aggressive fasting regimen and severely limiting calorie intake are not advisable; the idea is to inculcate a life style that can be maintained in the long term.

      Extreme fasting practices regularly practiced. Has any study on Jain monks...
      People practicing fortnightly, weekly one meal fasting are regularly seen.
      As a Dr he takes exceptions to generalise his conclusion. For allopathy antidiabetic treatment also such out of margins sample patients can be quoted.

      Agree. Take my case : Pre Covid, I was obese weighing 72 Kgs. HBA1c of 10. During Covid, I set my self on a healthy journey. Intermittent Fasting, Walking, Low Carb Diet has helped me shed 15 Kgs in around 2 Years. I have reversed my diabetes (HBA1c : 6). I'm not on any Medication for the past 2 years. My BMI stands at a Healthy 21.2. I was able to donate a Kidney to my ailing Partner(Wife). Post Surgery and recovery, I have reverted back to Fasting with one Kidney. I'm a 63 Year Male. Not boasting, trying to prove that Fasting by anyone with any condition is possible and safe. A little push and a little Will power.

    It appears that reducing carbohydrate intake is the key to weight reduction and not fasting. It may be alright to compensate for the reduction in carbohydrate intake with increased fat and protein intake so that one will not have to face nutritional deficiency.

    Thanks for sharing knowledge Dr. Every human being is unique and are differing in age, gender, bmi and metabolic health etc. what suits (diet) one may not suit others. Fasting & feasting are the ways of human evaluation. Multiple times eating (BF, coffee, snacks, lunch, snacks, coffee dinner- 7 times eating) and that too high carb foods (Pl note other than water anything you put in your mouth is food) cause Insulin Resistance over few years and leads to fatty liver, overweight, pcos, obesity, pre diabetes, diabetes etc.
    Seven essentials for good health (Air, water, food, exercise, elimination, rest and mind management) will balance five elements in the body. 3 to 4 liters water, two bowel movements, 45 minutes of brisk walk, Stress management, 7 hours nigh sleep and eating only twice when hungry and maintain the same timings, nothing in between 2 meals except water will prevent & cure lifestyle disorders.
    Knowledge and discipline are the gateways to health. I used to take 11 medicines until 2014. In 4 months i got rid of my medicine in 4 months during 2014. I guide people free to overcome Lifestyle disorders. Invest time to acquire Right knowledge

    Agreed! I prefer to eat healthy, ie eat superfoods, minimise sugar, ensure sufficient protein to prevent sarcopenia etc over just IF. I saw some effects of extreme fasting of losing too much muscle mass which is bad especially for older folks. If you eat clean, most likely you will stay in healthy body fat % and BMI range. My 2 cents.

    If you reduce carbohydrates in the food and have small meals with calorie restriction by intermittent fasting will be good. Just fast one meal a day. This can give amazing results in controlling sugar. Good 👍 sleep is also important to reduce the stress level. Great explanation by Dr. V. Mohan. Dr. Mohan’s atlas of lndian foods is a very good reference to know the calories one can consume per day with intermittent fasting also. It will help the diabetic patients a lot. The problem with these statements is no context was given. Actually people who fast but eat 2000-3000 calories is a good thing in the context of whole foods, especially low carb. You cannot gain weight without enough of an insulin response so in the context of keto or carnivore you should NOT reduce your calories. Increase them if you truly feel hungry. Cutting calories is a fallacy NOT backed by science. Thermodynamics does not apply as humans are not an open thermodynamic system. We are chemical reaction based. Meaning it's our hormones and chemical reactions that decide what volume of food is good for us. So no, the notion that you MUST calorie restrict while fasting is false.

    This is so outdated. The very fact he is saying take frequent small meals - this itself will cause glucose spikes throughout the day. By restricting the feeding window and eating nutrition dense food in that window it reduces the glucose spikes. The fasting period encourages the body to burn stored fat for energy and if its long dnough also activates autophagy. Of course as a diabetic this program should be discussed with the doctor to ensure that sugar levels do not drop to a hypoglcemic level. Refer to videos by Dr Pradip Jamnadas, Ranjan Chatterjee in conversation with Satchin Panda, Dr Eric Berg, Dr Sten Ekberg, Dr Mindy Pelz, Dr Robert Lustig. Far more scientific conversation out there.

    This assumption tat people who fast will eat like a pig 🐖 later is false and has to stop. Fasting also helps u to eat less and avoid unhealthy food.
