Have to disagree Doctor. Generally Intermittent Fasting means skipping one or two meal. You save the Calories of the Skipped meals. Eating small meals make you crave for more food. Fasting is a Age old and tested Method of well being. It can never harm you. Fasting gives the desired Result in 90% of the people.
Raghu NK, One need not skip any meal, if fasting is for 12-14 hours with an eating window of 12-10 hours, which is adequate time to have breakfast, lunch and dinner. What needs to be skipped is snacking in between meals. Decent weight loss can be achieved by limiting calories intake to about 1500 per day in a balanced way with carbs, protein, fat and fibre. Aggressive fasting regimen and severely limiting calorie intake are not advisable; the idea is to inculcate a life style that can be maintained in the long term.
Extreme fasting practices regularly practiced. Has any study on Jain monks...
People practicing fortnightly, weekly one meal fasting are regularly seen.
As a Dr he takes exceptions to generalise his conclusion. For allopathy antidiabetic treatment also such out of margins sample patients can be quoted.

Agree. Take my case : Pre Covid, I was obese weighing 72 Kgs. HBA1c of 10. During Covid, I set my self on a healthy journey. Intermittent Fasting, Walking, Low Carb Diet has helped me shed 15 Kgs in around 2 Years. I have reversed my diabetes (HBA1c : 6). I'm not on any Medication for the past 2 years. My BMI stands at a Healthy 21.2. I was able to donate a Kidney to my ailing Partner(Wife). Post Surgery and recovery, I have reverted back to Fasting with one Kidney. I'm a 63 Year Male. Not boasting, trying to prove that Fasting by anyone with any condition is possible and safe. A little push and a little Will power.
@@ramamoorthy9092 Are you talking about diabetic patients?

Wonderful explanation. A foolproof technique. A step by step guidelines. Well planned and organised regular lecture
Thanks sir, for sharing your valuable thoughts.
Very nicely said sir!
Dr. Thank you so much for the nice and clear presentation about intermittent fasting, but only the briefing in taking tablets during intermittent fasting is missing. Could you please suggest whether we should skip taking tablets and concentrate only the fasting with less calories of intake.
Regards 🙏
Thank you so much Much awaited topic .very nicely explained
Thank you Doctor, a good awaited information i got..... really you are genius.God bless you abundantly.
Intermittent fasting is for carb restrictions not for calorie restriction. I eat one meal a day, of 1500 calories mostly from good fat. My BMI is 20 and W/H ratio 0.85. I have been doing it for more than two years.
What do you eat in one meal?
check your cholesterol and triglycerides regularly
@@prashanthkamath7437 HDL 64 and triglycerides 87.
This doctor's knowledge is outdated. He is just focusing on calories. It is surprising that he is not aware that ongoing insulin release is detrimental in many ways. The doctor is also not knowing that growth hormone increases in a fasted state. Take his advice with a pinch of salt
@@LexJuris7 that's what is needed GH increases and Insulin drops so weight loss occurs. IF talks about calorie deficit not just carbs restrictions
Very nice explaination sir God bless you and your family
Good information Sir.
Great! explained very well .Thank you
Hello Dr Mohan, greetings. What if one is not hungry to eat breakfast or lunch at all? Not fasting per say
Thanks Doctor Great explanation. .
Long awaited topic from you Sir, Thank you!
Sairam Doctor . Thanks for the enlightening explanation.👍
A very useful video Dr Thanks very much
Its not calorie Restriction Sir, Its pure IF with Good Fats, High calorie, Give best Results. Calorie count concept is very old now. I advised now Don't count calorie. Just eat Whole Balanced Food.
Most underrated comment! 🎉❤
Calories is must. If calories in > Caloriez out weight gain will occur for sure
Isnt there also a risk to those who are already highly anxious to be predisposed to eating disorders?
(I hope google translate does us well)
Much required information n very educational..
Sir, you are exactly right.
I just love how they explain everything to us so we can understand them , and they make it fun so we don't get bored or distracted ( which happens to me very often) plus they are having fun to which is amazing. So thank you! You're amazing guys!
Thanks a lot for sharing this, I was eating 3 meals a day from my childhood which are healthy and complete in nutrients and I never felt a need to do intermediate fasting, but people and some doctors made this Intermediate fasting so glorified and discouraged the old system of eating 3 meals, I got so much confused..but after watching your video I am at peace
It appears that reducing carbohydrate intake is the key to weight reduction and not fasting. It may be alright to compensate for the reduction in carbohydrate intake with increased fat and protein intake so that one will not have to face nutritional deficiency.
Thank you sir good information
Nice talking🎉, thank you❤ doctor🎉
Well said Doctor garu 🙏 Perfectly explained 👍👌
Great to listen you. Nicely explained.👍
Thank You Sir.🙏😊
This is the most logical analysis of intermittent fasting which clears various point of confusion or contention . Thanks a lot doctor
Well explained
Thank you Dr.for your advice 👍🙏🙏
Thanks for sharing knowledge Dr. Every human being is unique and are differing in age, gender, bmi and metabolic health etc. what suits (diet) one may not suit others. Fasting & feasting are the ways of human evaluation. Multiple times eating (BF, coffee, snacks, lunch, snacks, coffee dinner- 7 times eating) and that too high carb foods (Pl note other than water anything you put in your mouth is food) cause Insulin Resistance over few years and leads to fatty liver, overweight, pcos, obesity, pre diabetes, diabetes etc.
Seven essentials for good health (Air, water, food, exercise, elimination, rest and mind management) will balance five elements in the body. 3 to 4 liters water, two bowel movements, 45 minutes of brisk walk, Stress management, 7 hours nigh sleep and eating only twice when hungry and maintain the same timings, nothing in between 2 meals except water will prevent & cure lifestyle disorders.
Knowledge and discipline are the gateways to health. I used to take 11 medicines until 2014. In 4 months i got rid of my medicine in 4 months during 2014. I guide people free to overcome Lifestyle disorders. Invest time to acquire Right knowledge
Agree absolutely. How can I connect to get your insights? I am T2 diabetic and on several pills related to life style diseases.

Doctor Sahab Namaskar,
Thank you so much for sharing this insightful and valuable analysis covering various aspects of intermittent fasting.
Objective and rational.
Wonderfully explained and clarified sir
Good nice advice
Thanks so much my Dr Mohan ❤️
Sir can intermittent fasting be done with ladies ?
Yes
You mean by ladies? Why not?
Thank you sir 🙏
Thank you doctor
Great message from experienced practising doctor ..regards from Chennai
Well said doctor!
Thank you so much doctor
Agreed! I prefer to eat healthy, ie eat superfoods, minimise sugar, ensure sufficient protein to prevent sarcopenia etc over just IF. I saw some effects of extreme fasting of losing too much muscle mass which is bad especially for older folks. If you eat clean, most likely you will stay in healthy body fat % and BMI range. My 2 cents.
Respected Dr Mohan, all claims you mentioned are very much correct. I also benefitted by following intermittent fasting. Got positive results.
Is it good for diabetes
Can u pls put the same video in tamil
Sure
Super presentation sir .
Thank you Doctor ❤💐👌
Very good advice and explanation
Dr.please make a video on one meal a day ....is it good or bad
Sure
Rapidly u will end up with nutritional deficiencies
If you reduce carbohydrates in the food and have small meals with calorie restriction by intermittent fasting will be good. Just fast one meal a day. This can give amazing results in controlling sugar. Good 👍 sleep is also important to reduce the stress level. Great explanation by Dr. V. Mohan. Dr. Mohan’s atlas of lndian foods is a very good reference to know the calories one can consume per day with intermittent fasting also. It will help the diabetic patients a lot. Nice explanation is given in this book. God bless 🙏😊👍👌👏
😊
Where can I get the book
Dr do palaya soru good for diabetic patients pls suggest

Why i cannot find one video explaining intermittent fasting, they all over explain it
what If we exercise in the morning We must have heavy breakfast ?? in this case intermittent fasting is good or nt ?
Intermittent fasting is more than or equal to 12 hours of fasting window and remaining as eating window
Sir i am doing fasting but only drink buttermilk and water 8 am to 8 pm it's ok
Please mail to contact@drmohans.com
Much awaited Topic. Thank you doctor for bringing clarity esp WRT diabetes
Absolutely Agree.. intermittent fasting has helped me only when I controlled calories.
Sir does type diabetes occurs suddenly or it takes years to develop?
It takes years to develop
Sairam Doctor
Please advise how much oil can be taken in a day . Some say that oil is required for the body, for bone health , for lubrication etc etc. But what I learnt was I can take only 10ml oil per day. How to measure while cooking for all the members of the family
If you have 4 members in your family, 2 litres of oil can be the limit
@@drvmohan
Thank you sairam for your guidance
Sir, please refer to video Dr Pradip Jamnadas, i dont find any relevance in your video
The problem with these statements is no context was given. Actually people who fast but eat 2000-3000 calories is a good thing in the context of whole foods, especially low carb. You cannot gain weight without enough of an insulin response so in the context of keto or carnivore you should NOT reduce your calories. Increase them if you truly feel hungry. Cutting calories is a fallacy NOT backed by science. Thermodynamics does not apply as humans are not an open thermodynamic system. We are chemical reaction based. Meaning it's our hormones and chemical reactions that decide what volume of food is good for us. So no, the notion that you MUST calorie restrict while fasting is false.
Thanks u are do good doctor u help me
Vegetarian food does not give more proteins. How to include proteins? Dals and pulses contain more carbs too. From where can we get proteins alone in veg diet?
Paneer, Curd, milk, Nuts, pulses, Seeds
Doctor I am T2D and on medicines . Last year i tried doing IF for 4 months but I started suffering from IC ( interstitial cystitis). NOT much has been studied on this aspect . I started finding the cause by elimination process . Finally it stopped after i quit IF. Doctor can yoh please throw some light on this aspect.
Stop drinking coffee and tea while doing intermittent fasting. Reduce spice level of your food. Reduce fried food as well.
Don't link fasting with cystitis.
They are totally different
@@wahib786 but it stopped after I stopped IF .
What about health benefits, mitochondrial cell repair, autophagy etc etc ...great benefits of fasting...its not just weight loss
In this type of fasting, physical as well as psychological both works ,better to eat moderately and emotionally happily without any rules, which I love to with adequate exercise.
Thank you doctor for this informative talk 🙏🙏
I believe in the power of Plate Management😊
Is eating par boil rice good for diabetic
As along as you follow the healthy plate concept, any cereal is fine. Parboiled rice is better than raw rice because it is more nutritious comparatively
It's True we Eat even when you are not Hungry, just because it is Lunch or Dinner time. But if you tell your wife, I am not Hungry I want to skip Lunch, then she gets Angry & says why didn't you tell me before I took so much effort in cooking. And so, for Peace to prevail, we tend to silently Eat without protest, even though not Hungry.
Doctor . Recently W.H.O commented on artificial sweeteners. Can you explain whether is there any harm if we are using artificial sweeteners like stevia ?

We are treating the symptoms or the decease? Realate intermittent fasting to insulin resistance. You can throw more light on aspects like calcium deposits in arteries in diabetes.
Sure
Good point doctor 👍⭕
People start gorging more during eating window to over compensate for long fasting window. Utterly and completely useless.

I think Mohan sir need to stress upon not on total calories we take but most important is what type of calories we are taking.
There is no Myths in intermittent fasting.
Intermittent fasting does works no doubt about it
Not for all. That's the most important thing
I disagree
I do 16/8 I feel 20 years younger
Also change ur diet to more fiber
No calorie restriction
That slows down metabolism
My energy is thru the roof
My health is improving drastically
Fasting is medicinal if you can do it
Smal frequent meals leads to hyper insulin and insulin resistance
It's not. It depends on which type of carbs u take
Sir good evening can diabetic person take deshi cow milk before bed
Yes
🙏🙏
What about autophagy Dr?
Just received test results today! In last two months, went from 8.8 A1c to 6.1 and lost 20 lbs. thanks to one meal a day intermittent fasting/healthy keto/several 36-96 hr prolonged water/coffee/ACV+wheatgrass drinks fasts.
This gives you results now but in the long term it will affect your body
Giving rest to the stomach by fasting? Really?
Yes. No workload 0n insulin that's the key
Sir a diabetic person take alcohol
Moderation is the key!
Diagnosed t1 diabetic last year 24April 22
This is so outdated. The very fact he is saying take frequent small meals - this itself will cause glucose spikes throughout the day. By restricting the feeding window and eating nutrition dense food in that window it reduces the glucose spikes. The fasting period encourages the body to burn stored fat for energy and if its long dnough also activates autophagy. Of course as a diabetic this program should be discussed with the doctor to ensure that sugar levels do not drop to a hypoglcemic level. Refer to videos by Dr Pradip Jamnadas, Ranjan Chatterjee in conversation with Satchin Panda, Dr Eric Berg, Dr Sten Ekberg, Dr Mindy Pelz, Dr Robert Lustig. Far more scientific conversation out there.
IF is Time restriction eating and fasting is no food for 24hrs and more days without food.
That's starvation
not required under under supervison
❤❤❤❤
Talk in Tamil sir
This assumption tat people who fast will eat like a pig 🐖 later is false and has to stop. Fasting also helps u to eat less and avoid unhealthy food.
not had anything for 36 hours still waiting for hunger
One meal a day makes a Yogi, two meals a day make a Bhogi and three meals a day make a Rogi (Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba)
Jay Sai Ram
Lol😂
If diabetic is not treatable .Then why you are spending your energy to the people?????
Intermittent fasting will induce growth hormone etc. So it is good.
That’s so true !Intermittent really leads to binge eating !
