Oh! I didn’t know this video existed cause I just made a finger like that and I used liquid latex and cotton, and covered it in a paper towel, and ripped it at the end so it looks bloody and painted it!

I'm allergic to latex so I can't try this out (grr), and also I've never worked on non-human hands :P but I wonder if you could also adhere an artificial fingernail (or even attempt an acrylic nail? Like I said I'm only experienced with live humans' hands) for even more detail. Not that this isn't cool enough as it is of course!
EDIT: something that came to mind was special-fx nail art - broken/bloody nails, nails that look like they have been torn off, making it look like a screw has been driven thru the finger, etc.
