thanks it really does work great, and when a knife is all rusty and dull i just use a right angle grinder with a worn out flap sanding disc and with very light pressure clean the blade and work the edge then a minute on the buffer and it will be razor sharp

im a wood carver a steel and especially stainless steel are not all equal. all my knives and chisels i can't sharpen the same way. some a strop, buffing wheel, stones. but the only knives and wood carving tools i sharpened truue face shaving razor sharp is with leather whell on my drill press. another thing i do with my many stones is lay a peace of glass down with sandpaper perfectly flat and redress my stones going backwards and forward keeping a perfect level face to start my knifes and caring chisels, pocket knives and of necessity my drill press strop. have fun sharping and be safe. papa wishing you well 😊

Sure it's a quick way to keep your knives sharp (nor for sharpening) but it creates a (small) secondary convex edge. I do this on purpose using a strop (leather belt) on all my work knives that come with a scandi to zero grind but some people don't like it. If you want to keep the scandi to zero grind you can't use this method and you need a flat surface (like stones) to maintain the edge. Of course a carbon steel knife will dull just by contact with moist air. I agree the CS Master Hunter is a decent knife and the Mora knives are great budget knives. The rest you show I would not carry at all but that's all personal preference.

seem quite sharp to me, i take the secondary bevels off my blades with a right angle grinder then polish with the buffer

Thanks for the demo! Great idea keeping things sharp with the buffer and some compound ! Fingers crossed everything goes well during and after this crazy election mess, I’ll be in basic training during anyway… but I’ll watch my 6. Stay safe !!!
