Very special thanks to out friend Fats Kaplin (Jack White, Elvis Costello, Beck, Buddy Miller) for this demonstration. Mr. Kaplin played the Century Lap Steel through an Epiphone Century Amplifier with no effects. Кино
Splendid, USEFUL demo! So nice to hear just the instrument and amp with no effects-- and the sounds are FINE!
A couple of years ago I discovered two new (to me...) bands that were heavy on the lap steel. Friends of Dean Martinez and The Vanduras. The more I listened to their gorgeous music, the more I realised I needed a lap steel! Steels don´t have to be country music. This Epi I´ll purchase as soon as it reaches my local music store!
The perfect dude to demo that thing. that's fats for ya.
Sweet style! Great tone.
These are scheduled to be out in September. Just pre-ordered from Sweetwater. Price is $249.
Sound Nice good playing !
Fats Caplin !
Hi !
What is the tuning please ?
Regards,
What's the name of the first song he played?
isn't this the dude who sometimes plays mandolin in Jack White's band?
+luchadorito it's in the description...
Great tone! Didn't realize humbuckers are used on lap steels. I know, historically, Tele bridge pickups were common. Who is the artist and why is he not cited here?
Fats Kaplin. He is cited in the credits at the end of the video and in the description here.
How much will these cost?
Coolsville.......
