  • The new Epiphone Electar Inspired by "1939" Century Lap Steel 6-string Outfit features a one-piece Mahogany body and neck with an Ebony finish. The back of the body has a non-slip rubber pad, which makes the Electar easy to play on your lap.

Very special thanks to out friend Fats Kaplin (Jack White, Elvis Costello, Beck, Buddy Miller) for this demonstration. Mr. Kaplin played the Century Lap Steel through an Epiphone Century Amplifier with no effects.

Splendid, USEFUL demo! So nice to hear just the instrument and amp with no effects-- and the sounds are FINE!

A couple of years ago I discovered two new (to me...) bands that were heavy on the lap steel. Friends of Dean Martinez and The Vanduras. The more I listened to their gorgeous music, the more I realised I needed a lap steel! Steels don´t have to be country music. This Epi I´ll purchase as soon as it reaches my local music store!

Great tone! Didn't realize humbuckers are used on lap steels. I know, historically, Tele bridge pickups were common. Who is the artist and why is he not cited here?

Fats Kaplin. He is cited in the credits at the end of the video and in the description here.
