      I'm a bit 50/50 with the 39 Pelagos, trying to remember why tho lol, think it was the Bezel?.. too many markings, I agree about the blue tho, if they did a different bezel option too I'd sell everything I own to snap one of them up.

      @@mrmagoo.3678 It’s a funny one - I personally think it’s the perfect watch for me, but I get that it’s also quite stark and modern compared to the BB. It’s not a universal hit, for sure. But in blue I think a lot of people would go doolally for it….

      @diskobean Год назад

      @@cradd7108yeah I used to own a cheap Wenger that was completely titanium (case + bracelet) and I could NEVER get used to how light and fragile it felt. I've always worn bigger and heavier SS watches so wearing that was an awkward experience for sure.
      FF by around 10+ years to present time and now I LOVE a titanium watch, after wearing a huge Seiko Turtle 🐢 on a StrapCode bracelet. I have a few titanium watches now, but none have a bracelet, so just the case is titanium. I could never afford a Pelagos, but I'm keeping my eyes on another Maratac titanium watch OR something else with a Ti case & bracelet in the under $1k range.
      But yeah, if you're used to wearing big, heavy SS diver's watches and then switch to a titanium, you might never get used to it. It took me another 10 years of going back and forth until now and I'm definitely ready for another full titanium watch.
      Maratac makes amazing titanium products i have LOTS of them, including their LSA 300m and GMT pilot watches) and they make awesome full titanium watches, but ONLY with automatic movements. I'm kinda over the automatic thing (even though I still wear one pretty regularly), but I just want a nice full Ti solar powered watch that's lightweight AND low maintenance!!!
      And Russ, thanks for another great review and video!!! That Tudor is simply handsome as hell and I would love to own it 😃

The FXD being a prime example. Some people were convinced that was the one when early renders were leaked. Heads will explode if and when Tudor decides to wise up. People in the 50s, 60s etc. were buying new-then watches and were not stuck in some vintage-inspired old times mania. For example, in the 007 movies, James B. always had a modern watch for the time when the movie was made.
    And the indices should be applied (or at least pressed like on Seiko 5), not just painted! Flat indices make it look cheap.

      @@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR Aah, sheesh. The comment was for the laymen like me. Rolex is a DREAM. We want the Rolex, but can't get one directly from Rolex ,so, many end up buying a Tudor thinking atleast there's a touch of Rolex. Even the ones who has money can't have a Rolex. So, not for you but for people who wants a Rolex and can't have one shouldn't get a Tudor and pay to Rolex. We all know why Tudor was created, to cater the poor. But now Rolex is like, oh you have money to buy Rolex? Take this is Tudor instead because for you to own a Rolex we have to develop our relationship, go on dates, have sex, get married, have children and maybe then we'll judge if you're worthy of wearing a Rolex. It's like you want a BMW series 5 and Volkswagen group is like take this Skoda Slavia instead.
      All I meant was nobody should buy a Tudor because they want a Rolex. I didn't get my Seiko5 GMT because I wanted a GS SBGE295 either, but just like you want the Tudor.

    You know I like tudor but I have a lot of buyers remorse with regards to my black bay ceramic. It's not because the watch is bad, it's a great watch; it's because the watch hurts my wrist. It's too big, and it's too heavy for my wrist. It would actually work better if it had a proper bracelet instead of a strap because the bracelet would offset the weight of the case. Following that logic, I've tried many different straps with the most comfortable being a rubberB strap (just barely doesn't work). I've owned the thing for roughly a year and I've maybe worn it for maybe 30 hours total. I'm trying to find a place I can sell it but right now the black bay ceramics are not worth much in comparison to a lot of the other tudor models. Vendors like watchbox, only accept tudor for trade ins and my AD offered me 50% of it's value which is the most scummy thing I've ever experienced in regards to watches.
    I've had my eye on the black bay 54 since it was announced at watching wonders, if I ever get to trade in this watch for a reasonable value, that's what I'm probably going to buy in its place, either that or the pelagos 39.

  • @porscheoscar
    @porscheoscar Год назад +2

    Ironic that Rolex decided to use "off the shelf" movements in Tudors since that's literally the entire history of Rolex themselves. Rolex did not make their own dials they outsourced to Beyler. Rolex did not make their own bracelets they outsourced to Guy Freres. They did not make their own winding crowns they outsourced to Bonichini. And of course famously Rolex never made their own movements they outsourced to Aegler, Lemania and Zenith. A watch made entirely by Rolex did not become a reality until 2004 when they just started writing giant checks to buy the companies they'd been buying parts from all along. Similarly Rolex bought Kenissi Manufacture the company that makes the movements for Tudor after ETA got word to Rolex and others that it was cutting off supply of their movements. ETA only supply their movements to the brands within the Swatch group which was actually forced on them by the Swiss government who wanted to keep it a Swiss only club or something. That's a long crazy story in itself.
    I like the snowflake hand but it seems strange for Rolex to order Tudor to only use snowflake hands on all their Black Bay models. As you noted that's not the history of Tudor. Or is it that they're just banned from using Mercedes hands and using the name Submariner? Either way they should mix it up a bit. The Omega 57 arrow hands or batons would look great on Black Bay. The square hour markers is also great nothing makes me yawn faster than yet another dive watch with round hour markers and no numbers. Too sterile and one dimensional given all the options at disposal. The brand new Longines Hydroconquest for example does a small snowflake hour hand, which is an interesting change up, stick hour markers, a lollipop seconds and arrow for the GMT hand. That's moving the design ball forward.

    I want a black bay with square indices, dammit! Maybe Tudor can fit the BB58's box crystal to the 39mm Pelagos?

    I have the black 7016/0 without the date from 1974. Love it, but for the money they go for these days has made me thinking of selling it. I really agree with your plea to Tudor though. Would be a great watch.

    The square numerals WORK with the snowflake hands, also I miss the rose logo and smile text but idk which model that was far back
    Oh technically speaking isn't the pelegos 39 the remake of this?

    You are the most Interesting and Educational RUclipsr. Making watching your videos enjoyable, I don’t know if Willy Wonka is a Influence to you but the way you mix different ways of vocal delivery and color changing in the video are a trip. I am looking at a older Tudor that is a Hybrid Rolex thanks to you. Thanks from America 🇺🇸

    I would be happy with a Pelagos 42mm (snowflake and block indices) but in a darker blue and stainless steel.and no date.

    I've been waiting for a blue 39mm since it came out. Was literally first thing I thought... at that point I'll have my grail watch.

    The closest you can currently get is the Pelagos with the snowflake hands AND square indices.

    I totally agree. A reissue of that Snowflake submariner would be the hit! It will catapult Tudor even further ahead, playing with the big league guys.

    Mixed emotions: that is an insane piece of Tudor history, thx to London Guy for allowing you to share it with us.
    But I’m wearing my P39 and feel it’s Tudor’s Sub. Yes, hoping that in 2024 (updates are done in 2 yr cycles according to my AD so it and the BB Pro will be eligible next yr) the same bright blue as the 42 has comes to the 39. Or a white dial blk bezel P39… Would like the bigger hr markers - that would be awesome.
