I am a fan ever since I first heard them on the radio. I was in Albany New York and the station played, from there 1981LP “Is That Love”. Heard it in the shower, I thought that it was an unknown John Lennon track!!! Concerts, seen them live three times in San Diego California between circa 1989-1996.
Those two voices work so well together. I think this combination of voices between Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Gifford is my absolute fave of any two singers in unison

I was 16 years old on my way to meet an out of town boyfriend. Had this song on a tape player and listened to it non-stop during the journey, could not get enough of it. Did not even know who the band was. Fast forward...many years...fallen asleep with the tv on. Apparently, Squeeze concert was on PBS and was awaken by a flash of sweet memories and sound. Such awesome music. Dreams ARE really made of this...
Best Squeeze song ever (released Feb 5, 1978). When I heard this heavy electro disco in '78, I definitely didn't see the excellent pop ditty 'Cool for Cats' coming the following year...and at that time, I had other things to listen to, like OMD, Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, This Heat, The Residents and Human League.
@@LouLou-bl7lw Neither would I. My introduction to the delights of Squeeze's music was seeing their performance of this at the start of an edition of Top of the Pops one Thursday evening in the school Easter hplidays in 1978.
I am a fan ever since I first heard them on the radio. I was in Albany New York and the station played, from their 1981 album “East Side Story”, it was “Is That Love”. Heard it in the shower, I thought that it was an unknown John Lennon track!!! Concerts, seen them live three times in San Diego California between circa 1989-1996.
When it came out in '78 ( I think) it swept over me like a wave of feeling where the music somehow matches your mood. Throughout that period I was carried on this song through moments I still treasure today. An unsettling song in an equally unsettling period.
It's amazing to me how I see so many coments for "Up the junction" and "Cool for Cats" which are both awesome songs yet this is amazing and my favorite of theres and there is hardly any coments for this awesome song.
I thought that and then I re-discovered The Divine Comedy. 12 studio albums of utter brilliance. Chris Difford sings backing vocals on Absolutely Obsolete on their latest Office Politics album.
Good Lord ,and for fifty cents they were worth it! So sad to see such a good band go mainstream and die out.I'll always have the memories of 1980......Thanks Guys
“Has it ever struck you that life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by you so quick you hardly catch it going?”― Tennessee Williams..
Was always my favourite now I look back. It is indeed too easy to recall the famous tunes. How fantastic were Squeeze ? Thanks in part to Ashes To Ashes for kick starting my memories. Because dreams are made of this ...
you cannot must not or have a music tribute without the great band squeeze being mentioned they did what they wanted when they wanted and how real musicians and a band should be xxx
I remember their writing was compared to Lennon and McCartney at the time. I think there might have even been a South Bank Show devoted to them. Something to look up
Who else loves Squeeze?
Brilliant band!!!
Da best....brings me back
👍👍😁🇮🇪
I do, they are magnificent 😃😃
I saw them in Denver with Hall and Oates .

They were the Staley/Cantrell of the 70s/80s
This has to be one of the most unique songs ever written
I'll second that I was lucky enough to see them in concert many many years ego 79 if my memory serves me right

I think you nailed that!
Not drugs and suicide again! 🙄
It's not!
The synchronicity in the very short delay between them is amazing. Has to be the hardest thing to ever do.....
Chris Difford has one of the sexiest voices ever and Difford and Tillbrook singing together is pure heaven.
Yes that sounds about right
He is genuinely hot.
Agree, he is so cool
@@beauleosparky I've got to hear that!
There is so much swag in this song and video. Jools smoking an ever ending cigarette while playing piano...just British swag.
Here because of Andy McCoy. Loving the original too!
nearly 44 years old but still fresh😎
EVERY time this song pops up on my playlist, I repeat for like 40 times. Just can’t get enough!
Great song! Came here because of Andy McCoy cover
Squeeze were way before my time, I'm only 17, but i still love them, they're amazing :')
Do you still love them?

I have been listening to Squeeze since I was 5 years old! 37 years later and I'm still rockin out to them!
Saw the band last night in Glasgow. Still absolutely brilliant and Tillbrook has never sounded better.

Hmmm... It appears we had the same musical trajectory back then...
I would never call this disco
@@LouLou-bl7lw Neither would I. My introduction to the delights of Squeeze's music was seeing their performance of this at the start of an edition of Top of the Pops one Thursday evening in the school Easter hplidays in 1978.
What is cool about this is that this was in the very late 70's. Disco was still going on. This was very modern!
Jools is soooooo COOL in this video. A great, song, a great band and a very cool Jools Holland!!! I love it and I want more music like this.
Opened with this on Tuesday night supporting Madness at the Brighton Centre. What a song, what a band.
i litterally replayed this at least 10 times
Wen Bells only ten...???
Me too
one of the greatest english bands of all time.....
Followed by Camel and Caravan
...Some of the best freakin' lyrics ever written!

I am kind of obsessed with this song. It still sounds modern in some ways. Love squeeze. Love the boys. Jools is killin' me. So good.

Still sounds as fresh as it it did when I first heard it
I was 21 when this came out and it sounds just as good now.......headphones on ,full volume , glorious days!!!!
I remember when I was about 8 my dad would always have squeeze playing, I would get him to put this and up the junction on.
Love these guys.
The only people who’ve forgotten about Squeeze ( and XTC) are the media, which are, ironically the ones we can forget about
Forgot how many good songs they had, can't listen to one without going right through them.
My fav squeeze song if I can pick one out of all their fantastic songs. Replay this umpteen times! 😊
they don't make them like this anymore, classic stufff :)
They certainly don't loved squeeze when I was a teenager

Squeeze should have been much bigger. How could I have forgotten them? This, up the junction, tempted, cats...wow.
Still sounds great after all the years.
Their lyrics are so tight....Pure genius..
Absolutely timeless song, one of the best bands ever...
I bought this about 50 years ago !!!!! Tooooooon!
What a great era for music hehehe ! Squeeze were great!
Wow Jules is soooo cool in this!! Love it!
This is my favorite Squeeze song.
I loved this song from the first time I heard it as an undergraduate on my mate's personal CD player and 80 quid headphones, back in the 80s.

Fantastic! I've been listening to this song for about 25 years but have never seen the video. Thankyou!
The famed octave vocals never sounded better than on this.
Paul James
Absolutely right
Glen Chris, Jools just killing it
Great song, and Jules looks cool too with his cigar - OUT STANDING - music and style!!! I love it.
Man does this song take me back!! Friggin' love it!

Old skool Squeeze. I had no idea this was Squeeze for, like, a decade after I heard of them.
What a tune. Timeless

This is the band the Beatles could only aspire to be.
Ian Smith because less talented people can be luckier

Difford and Tilbrooks voices blend perfectly-Ageless:-)
Sarf London with the university boys back in the day. Great daze.
Has anyone bought the new Squeeze cd? It's called Spot the Difference, and basically sounds like 1979 all over again!
GOOSEBUMPS! OMG ITS EPIC!
Genius in every way.
This tune came to mind...
