@@execuwutie_YT That scene was amazing, because they do a FANTASTIC job making you think that he's going to do something extremely dark and horrible, but he's simply trying to make a point, even if it IS a bit extreme on his end
that wasnt dazzler, that was bishop's sister shard. that was season 4, there was a whole season after that. bishop and shard went back to the future and bishop came back in the gap between season 5 and xmen 97. and the psychics werent kidnapped by immortus. they were captured by apocalypse and immortus in disguise as bender helped bishop to free the psychics, thus getting rid of apocalypse so he (immortus) can rule the nexus once more.
OMG...of course you're right! That's Shard not Dazzler. Dang it, I grabbed that screen cap and then forgot it was her as I was making the vid. Sigh. Excellent catch! So, do you think Bishop returned to the future after that episode or has be been hanging around ever since? I'm not sure what to think at this point.
If Jean was replaced by Madelyne at any point during the original series, and not between shows… the implication that it wasn’t the real Jean during the incredibly emotional goodbye scene with Xavier in the original finale would be a CRIME!!!
Right! That's a very big concern and so I do wonder if it will be Madelyn that's at the door rather than Jean. So many possibilities for where things could go from here!
@@iraford5788 Definitely worth watching the original show if you have time. But I do like that the new show fills you in on alot of details in case you didn't see the earlier series.
I cant lie I'm pretty excited for your video about the 90s animated timeline. When this show was first announced almost 2 years ago, i went back to all the 90s shows and pieced them all together in their own little "self contained" multiverse. There were a lot of inconsistencies but im intrigued to see how you get around some of them.
Yeah, that's the biggest bummer...I love that they made it a connected universe, but there definitely wasn't alot of effort at tying things neatly together.
This took me right back to my childhood. The original X-Men series and The Spider-Man animated series are what got me into Marvel and Comic books as a whole as a kid. By the end of the second episode I was shocked at how good it was.
asking "did the magic return" took me back to when timberlake came out with "sexy back" and prince said "sexy never left" lol thats how i feel with this. magik "the magic never left. read our comics"
How cool to hear that! Yeah, I love those classic marvel animation series, especially the X-men and Spider-Man from the 90's. They showcased some fantastic long form storytelling that had never been done before and in many ways paved the way for the MCU as we know it.
38:33 I also felt that. Why would the original Jean say it like that? What if that is the clone, and Sinister actually sent her to pretend like the real Jean? We'll see i guess. Also, Phase Zero released an interview with the director of the show, Jake Castorena; do check that out. Aaron (the interviewer) asks Jake about the cameos at 8:20. I'll dm you the video
Thanks! Yeah, such a great start to the show...gonna be an amazing season. And thanks for sending that video. I'm so excited to see what they do with the animated world. Lots of chances for some cool cameos!
Hi everyone I’ve been watching this channel for around 6 months and I wanted others that may be in the community to give their opinion. I have ADHD and I usually get pretty bothered by videos maybe because how they’re edited and even sped through a bit. I just can’t follow them very well. But by far these videos have changed my mcu world. He’s so organized, he talks very clearly and clarifies everything. They’re perfect for people like myself that may have sensory issues or learning disabilities. You can’t really get this kind of uniqueness with the other channels. I know this channels going to explode one day. Thank you for all your hard work on putting together these videos.
Wow...that's so very kind of you to say. While I've never formally been tested, I'm certain I fall on the autism spectrum and my son has been tested and he is on the spectrum as well. So for me, making videos like this that try to tie together story elements into an organized and linear format really helps me think more clearly and to find connections I never realized were there. I'm so happy that this style also works for you as I suspect it makes it easy to process for someone with ADHD as well. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your feedback. It made my day!
In the comic series the reason Scott can't control his eye beam is because he was brain damaged after falling from a plane & used his power to break his fall. He had his bro w/ him @ the time. Saved both their lives 💯👍
Finally got around to watching all 3 eps yesterday. I had to stop halfway through to tell my friend to get around to it. Other than feeling at some times that I was missing context, since it has been a year since I re-watched the original, it was so great. All the characters felt like the original series and comic book version. (Which is high praise since the original is written by Chris Claremont himself.) I was very satisfied beyond just nostalgia.
Awesome...so glad you got caught up on the series. I've been loving it. They did such a good job of bringing back the look and feel from the original show and yet are also making it something new and fresh as well!
I've never seen the original show but i loved these first 2 episodes, my boy Scott finally getting done justice after so many years. I definitely think the mcu will take inspiration from both seasons for their version of the X-men.
"my boy scott finally getting justice done after so many years" Where have YOU BEEN for the last 10 years? He's been the best leader of the X-men ever since they bodied professor X 10-11 years ago. This comment would be accurate if you said "I finally decided to watch comic book content with Cyclops in it." This isn't "their version" lol? Oh you're right. You mean they're gonna pirate what Marvel writers have been doing for 10 years and then give Feige the credit
@@imnotmephisto Oh, I totally agree they have done him justice in the comics...I was more focusing on the live action cyclops, as he got a pretty raw deal in that original X-men trilogy.
Great video! You did forget about “The Incredible Hulk” and “Avengers: United They Stand” shows that are part of this universe. I just made a timeline of all the shows and started watching through the entire saga. I can’t wait until I get to “X-Men 97” but I am wondering how much of all those old shows will be honored lol
Oops...I totally left out the Hulk...dang it! But I always wondered if Avengers: United They Stand was connected. Are there any firm ties with the other shows? I really need to watch them all in close proximity and try to nail down all the connections!
I loved the first two episodes, there were so many great moments that I still havent fully digested yet. Also it would be awesome if you made a video on the other 90's shows, the FF show was surprisingly good when I checked it out
We rlly need a Marvel Animated Universe timeline, bc no one rlly knows if X-men & Spider-Man share the same universe with the other shows and the exact dates of when each episode/season takes place
Basically all the 90s marvel shows were apart of the same animated universe as the secret wars arc in spiderman the animated series basically confirmed it.
This was a great review. The last episode Bishop was in the 92 series, he was hugging his sister Shard. I thought for a sec, why would he be hugging Dazzler?! 😂 Longshot wouldn’t be thrilled about that, and Dazzler was only shown in 2 episodes prior, i believe. I liked that Shard had a bigger part in those episodes. Hopefully, Shard makes an appearance in X-97
ikr? I can't believe I said that. I grabbed that screen cap and then didn't record until the next day and had a brain meltdown when I said Dazzler. Sigh. I am really curious though on why Bishop didn't head back to 2055. Perhaps his device is broken and that's why we see Hank working on it?
@AbitofEverything4U I thought that too! Maybe he stayed cause his device won't let him return, or he needs to learn more about the past to build a better future? I guess we will see how his story arc comes about.
Thanks for the awesome breakdown. Speaking of action figures, I always wanted a wolverine one when I was a kid but never got one, I was walking past a charity shop the other day and saw one in the window, at 36 years old I literally ran across the road and bought it for myself. When I got home my kids asked if it was for them and I said ‘nope, it’s for mummy’ (obviously they have ended up playing with it 😂). Now i just need rogue and gambit and my inner child will be happy! Never too old ❤
Love it! That's an awesome story. Yeah it's amazing how things can make us feel so nostalgic and bring back those childhood memories. Great to hear you listened to that inner child and got the Wolverine action figure. And I agree...adding a Rogue and Gambit to the collection would round things out quite nicely!
spoilers for those who dont read the comics. the vision explained via my perspective with my knowledge of the comics: the eyes that replaced mastermold's was that of another psychic whose presence "jean" sense cause cerebro increased her powers. blue eyes just like "jean". the baby being far away, as it out of her reach as in not really hers. now the graves could just be the future that gyrich wants: all mutants dead and she is just seeing his hidden fantasies. but im going to go with at least one of those shots are failed clones......the child hand drawing the xmansion? was her as a kid being taught about the real jean's life and the xmen. real jean you say? YES! the jean who was pregnant is NOT jean but maddie pryor her clone who replaced her and these visions hint at her true origins and future: once revealed she will be cast away and the baby will be raised by scott and the real jean hence why it was taken away from her in her mind. this is all left up to interpretation but the end of episode 2 helps support it. there appears another jean and maddie (the one next to scott) looks more irritated and angry then shocked and confused like the rest. now it could be the other way around, where the real jean was the pregnant one and the new one is the clone but thats less drama and less comics accurate. maddie is the one who marries scott FIRST, has his baby and names him nathan after her father, nathaniel essex aka sinister. there is no nathan in jean's life to name him after especially when she chose charles as a middle name. the baby is named after his grandfathers so why not scott's bio dad christopher or jean's dad john as a first name? its all pointing to: it was maddie all aloooooooooong!
Did the magic return? Oh it returned and it multiplied! One thing I wanna say is that during the trailer for the series, the clip with Wolverine making the dad joke sounded really off (and yes I realize the actors are older) but then when the same scene played during the episode it just sounded normal. Maybe I had adjusted to the difference in Wolverine's voice at this point but just felt like it was worth mentioning. As for the Bishop part, a good catch as always because we all thought he went back to his time ... also the woman was Dazzler? Wow. Also the different opening versions ... still can't believe I missed that. Plus your theory for Jean is so fascinating. Those easter eggs! Also ... I really hope they do more animated shows in the 97 universe. Still didn't know there was a Silver Surfer show though, heck I always thought Spider-Man was the only crossover show. And you know I want my Spider-Man 98 show. As far as the Eddie Brock thing, I'm pretty sure Marvel/Disney owns the rights to the animated material so Sony has no say there I don't think ... there are ways to explain a return by Venom too. As for timeline stuff ... like I said on the Discord I would wait until S1 is fully out and then perhaps map a timeline out for the shows. The graves make me think of future shenanigans because if I recall in either Cable's future or Bishop's there was the graves of the X-Men. I think you mean Gambit lights up Wolverine's claws, although I can understand why you would accidentally say Bishop. I also missed Magneto now being in the opening, you're so good at catching stuff. What I love is those blasters just make me think of Megaman's Mega Buster. Wow I did not notice that whole thing with the blast on Storm, yet again showing why you are so good at this stuff. As far as the Rogue thing ... I'm not sure to think but I believe in the original series Rogue is shown gaining knowledge via her touch.
Ooooof...Bishop instead of Gambit...dern it! But I love how closely you watch the vids. Great catch! One thing I was very careful about was using them for Morph. I messed up once and caught it and started over as I really wanted to be sure I honored their pronouns.
@@AbitofEverything4U I love that they aren't playing it safe and seem to be taking risks, from the updated art style to making Magneto an Xman, pregnant Jean, clone Jean, storm losing her powers, to adding Morph to the team and introducing Roberto - All in 2 episode's
I suspect if the show does as well as it seems it might, we could indeed have an animated universe coming our way. As for Cyclops, they should have named these episodes #JusticeForCyclops as they did such a good job of restoring his reputation. Loved it!
I don't understand who these alleged fans of Cyclops are? Marvel writers have really built up Scott since Professor X died like 11 years ago. Where have you been the last decade? How do you know what Scott deserves if you haven't watched them build my boy up for 10 years with amazing stories?
@@imnotmephisto Oh, I agree that Cyclops has been done right in the comics...I was more focused on how he was done pretty dirty in the original X-men trilogy.
@@imnotmephistoI'm very excited to see the X-men arriving in the MCU, as I suspect Feige will make sure everyone is accurately represented this time around.
When I say I was PUNCHING AIR at THAT SCENE!! You all know exactly which one I'm talking about! Damn near hopped down a narrative layer to stop it myself!
I’m not the biggest OG aficionado but I understand X-Men takes place in a universe where time travel is causal rather than branching. Would love to hear more about this and if you think we’ll see any TVA/Deadpool 3 nods here!
Great point...yeah, I may need to do a video on that. My guess is that because the X-Men universe is a alternate universe and thus not connected to 616, it therefore has its own big bang and its own set of infinity stone. Therefore, the time stone can function differently in the X-men universe and time can be causal rather than branching. I'll be real interested to see if that's discussed at all in Deadpool 3!
Oops, I left off Hulk. That's definitely part of the universe. I couldn't decide if the Avengers show was or not. It seems more tied to Spider-Man Unlimited, but I could be wrong on that.
@30:39 Mate, it’s not just Wanda’s magic words lol. In many of the original 90s series episodes, the in-show news cast footage would sometimes show FOH protesting & they would often use their rallying cry “no more mutants.” One of the most prominent examples would be from Season 2, Episodes 7 & 8, “Time Fugitives.”
Oh, I'm totally with you on that. Definitely not just Wanda, by any means. I just naturally thought of her usage of the words as it was so famous and iconic when she said it. Anyway, great feedback. Thanks so much for watching the vid and sharing your thoughts. Really appreciate it!
Could you maybe make a video on the timeline of the 90's animated universe, consisting of X-men, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, and the Silver Surfer? Officially, X-men and Spider-Man are in a separate Universe from the rest, and the Silver Surfer may also be separate, but I think a comprehensive episode timeline would still be cool to see. Some episodes from X-Men should take place earlier than they were aired (although the D+ listings account for most of these, while imdb retains episodes in order of air date (for the most part)). I just notice that your spreadsheet only lists the shows themselves but not an exact timeline. It would also be cool if you could cover all the alternate timelines created during the shows as well. I'm very confused about how the time travel logic works in the Time Fugitives episodes from the X-Men series. (I hate the temporal storm explanation.) Also apparently there are a few comic tie-ins and all of them can be found in the X-Men '92: The Saga Continues TP but I know nothing else about them. On a separate note, do you think that when Rogue gets introduced in the MCU, we will see her take Captain Marvel's powers? Wouldn't that essentially be the end of her story? I could totally imagine a Rogue movie ending that way.
Yeah, I think a timeline vid would be very helpful for the animated universe. You are right that as of now, the GoogleSheet just has a mention of the series, but not an attempt to put it in timeline order. And yeah, I agree, a Rogue storyline of taking Captain Marvel's powers would be very cool. Wonder if Marvel will go that direction or not?
"Did the magic return?" No, 97 brought the magic! As someone that came in not really knowing anything, and watching the original series prior to starting 97, I have to say that 97 is already the best, and I'm coming from the future where the next 6 episodes are already out, it's stellar. Season 5 of the original X-Men series is a bit of an oddity though because there's this sudden switchup in animation studios, or at least all the character designs have been changed. I honestly get Gyrich and Trask confused all the time because while they do appear throughout the run of the series, they are still infrequent enough that I just can't seem to pin down the names to the characters on screen despite them looking very different (The irony; I can do it with Clones in Star Wars no problem, but two totally different people in X-Men, I'm a goner). I think part of the problem is that they're a bit too similar in personality and character traits; they're just normal humans that hate mutants and want to build machines to eliminate them, like, that's what's in my brain despite Trask being the one who actually builds them. Anyway, there's this new animation switchup in Season 5 that ruined everything, and I had no idea who it was that "killed" Xavier until it was said somewhere in a news broadcast, and I was like, "WAIT WHAT?!" I at least knew the name was one of their biggest adversaries, but it never clicked who that was because he looked nothing like at least one of the two characters I was thinking of. Thankfully 97 has gone back to the superior designs from Seasons 1-4. Half of Season 5 actually has some pretty good stories, but the episodes just look so terrible, and for such a pivotal scene starting the finale, I have no idea what made them pick that character design when not one ounce resembled the character from before.
So glad you are enjoying X-Men 97. Such a great show! And yeah, they really confused me with Gyrich when I watched that show years ago. I had no clue who he was!
ikr...I need to start collecting those figures. They sure looked cool and tbh, made the funko pops look very boring. I don't know that I totally understand the funko craze, but I do love action figures like X-Cutioner. I admit, I'm a sucker for any action figure with heavy artillery or giant swords.
@@AbitofEverything4U Btw I was just busting chops brother.. even tho I'm NOT a fan of Funko Pops...I believe that you like what you like..& no ONE hobby is better than another That being said..a lot of people also criticize Marvel Legends as well..but I'm a fan/ collector..& both the X Men 97 waves have been EXCELLENT IMO Btw when I ALSO said that I was just gonna get 1... MAYBE 2 .. Marvel Legends a few years ago..& even tho I don't have a huge collection..its WAY more than 2! Lastly I would suggest you check out Cyclops & Nightcrawler from that same wave 👑
a small thing, but the woman Bishop is hugging in the one scene you mentioned isn't Dazzler, it's actually Bishop's sister Shard. IIRC Dazzler in X-Men: the Animated Series has auburn or ginger hair and "dated" Scott during the Dark Phoenix episodes. I pretty much agree with your placement of this series in the X-Men: the Animated Series timeline, Xavier "died" in November 1996, and Jean has her child in Episode 2, so it has to be at least 9 months afterwards, so July or August of 1997 would be about right. It could be a little bit later than that like September if Jean didn't get pregnant right away, which would line it up with the September 1997 end date of the original show, but it has to be at minimum July/August of 1997. As far as the other 90's shows showing up in this series, the Spider-Man one is confirmed as part of the same Universe (Earth-92131), it appears that the 90's Fantastic Four and Iron Man shows share a separate Universe (Earth-534834), and the Silver Surfer Animated show is in another Universe (Earth-634962), so if they are going to show up in X-Men '97 it would either have to be the X-Men '97 Universe version of them or have some kind of Multiversal thing going on. Saying that also just gave me an idea, I wonder if both of the "Jeans" are Jean, but rather than one being a clone of the other by Sinister, maybe instead he pulled in a Jean from another Universe or something. For the Rogue stuff, I've seen her powers more described as being able to take the knowledge and skills of anyone she touches, so even a non-Mutant would still work with her powers as she would get their knowledge and skills temporarily. For the Rogue/Magneto relationship, I am glad you're aware that some comics versions of them do have that sort of relationship (most things I've seen either don't mention it really or aren't aware of it being a thing at all), I sort of figure that for them to be able to touch in this continuity that Magneto bends like a small forcefield of magnetism around himself as a form of protection or something like that.
Dang it...that is indeed Shard. Great catch! As for Jean and Scott, the question is ofc when they conceived their child and yeah, it could be before or after that 11/11/96 date. I kinda wonder if they were depressed after Charles "death" and so it might make more sense to have conceived prior to that sad time? Great comments about the shared universe. I always assumed it was just Spider-Man and X-men in the universe with the others in a different universe, but I need to look more into that as I am being told there could be connections with the FF4, Iron Man and Hulk. Would be wild if one of the "Jeans" were multiversal...clever theory! And yeah, the Rogue / Magneto romance has been pretty cool in the comics. Glad they are pulling that into the show!
@@AbitofEverything4U yeah, they could have conceived earlier than Xavier's "death", though if they did I don't think it's too long before that, if only because of the sensibilities of "don't have children until you're married" that were still a thing in the 90's (they weren't allowed to mention anything about WWII or the Holocaust or anything like that for Magneto's backstory either because of sensibilities and such back then as well), and Scott and Jean finally get married during the Beyond Good and Evil episodes at the end of Season 4, so around the middle of '97 still wouldn't be all that far off. When I looked into the Universe designations and such for the different shows, since I myself was of the belief that each of them were their own separate Universe aside from X-Men and Spider-Man sharing one, I also found that the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, and Hulk shows are seemingly connected to one another (seems like maybe they were separate or thought to be separate at one point, but are now seemingly part of the same Universe), so it definitely could be something to look into more.
X-Men 97 Cyclops is an Ads of Cyclops in Deadpool and Wolverine i guess cuz Marvel studios did the same with Cap Carter and Sinister Strange (What If...?)
There's this weird intro part where you can see Mr. Sinister having some kinda influence on Morph. Morph isn't supposed to be able to replicate their powers. This seems like a power upgrade which is consistent with Mr. Sinister. Madelyn Prior being in the mix is another potential sign of Mr. Sinister being involved. Magneto and Rogue and whatever allows them to be able to touch is weird for this timeline but Rogue has learned to control her powers in the main comic book timeline. In this timeline it may have something to do with Mr. Sinister.
@@AbitofEverything4U Would be on interesting to see for sure, especially if they lean in to the angle that "Jean" in the first 2 episodes was actually Madelyne Pryor, adds more layer to the original series finale
Both of those shows were so much fun. I suspect they brought in a ton of fans just like you that had never seen Marvel before. Thanks for sharing your experience with those shows!
Finally got the time to start watching, and what a great couple of episodes. These are easily better than every original episode, awesome. Bishop being here did confuse me a lot though. Maybe he didn’t leave yet, but then Shard did? Odd… Also, weird bit of trivia, but apparently that Immortus is the Immortus from the comics. At least according to the Marvel Database wiki, he’s the same one, which makes for a very weird and random crossover. Also, I was never a fan of the “To me, my X-Men,” line, but it was absolutely awesome for Magneto to say it, very cool. Overall, a great start, and I’m actually feeling hyped about X-Men again. I’ll be jumping into the next episode soon.
i think jeans vision is doing two different things. she's sensing the other, not pregnant, Jean (who is definitely the original). and then i think it's also hinting towards a possible adaptation of the Genosha massacre
Niiiice! Yeah, I could see that being the meaning behind the vision. Man, maybe it wasn't such a good idea for the poor Morlocks to go to Genosha after all!
ikr? Can't believe I said that. I grabbed that screen cap for the vid and then didn't get to recording things until a day later and totally had a brain melt down. Ugh. Great catch. So what are your theories on why Bishop is still in the present instead of back in 2055?
Simply AMAZING! I havent been this pleased with an MCU project since GotG 3, and before that, Endgame lol. I mean I am over the moon excited for more episodes. My favorite marvel teak finally writted and created by the MCU staff, and in a form that I never would have seen coming. Of the eventual mcu film is even half this good, we have a masterpiece on our hands. Cannot wait for the rest of the episodes
@@movielover7565 Loki season 2 was amazing, but for me, as someone who isn't a huge fan of his character, it didn't really excite me. I was super happy with it, and it was an extremely amazing show that I watch over and over again, but for me X-Men and guardians beat it out just because I love those characters a lot more
Well this show isn't really considered an MCU project, as the original showrunner (who was recently fired unfortunately) basically confirmed before it was released that it's just its own thing being a continuation of the 90s X-Men animated series and not really apart of the sacred timeline.
since there is a shared universe, is the time placement for each episode from different series the release date for each episode? For example, X-Men the Animated Series S3E11 "Dark Phoenix - Part I: Dazzled" aired on November 12, 1994 X-Men: The Animated Series S3E12 "Dark Phoenix - Part II: The Inner Circle" aired on November 12, 1994 X-Men: The Animated Series S3E13 "Dark Phoenix - Part III: The Dark Phoenix" aired on November 19, 1994 Spider-Man S1E01 "Night of the Lizard" also aired on November 19, 1994 Like is that the timeline? or am I wrong? I'd say I am wrong because like how it was said in the video, Charles's death certificate doesn't match the publish date. So, if the publication date isn't the timeline, then what is it? or am I overthinking?
Great question...and that's indeed why I want to do a timeline for the Animated series. To determine the official timeline, I'll have to look for timeline hints in each episode and piece together when it all happens, similar to looking at the date of Charles "death" in relation to Jean's pregnancy and how that let us know the first episode is likely in late summer of 1997. Should be a fun exercise to see how it all ends up!
15:17 i think they named the show 97 because it ended in 97?) By the way, just started watching, watched two episodes, oh my world, the show is mindblowingly spectacular, I get goosebumps when I watch every video for the show marvel published on their channel. I decided to watch 5 seasons + 5 seasons of spider man before starting a new show. I never watched x men series before, watched some episodes of spider man, some of them out of order. Now I watched everything related to the show since first trailer and first episodes on your and some other channels, now the some between second and third episodes. Want to experience this continuity of show related content with the show itself. Episode three awaits! ❤
Oh wow, I bet you're having a great time watching all the 90's animated episodes and now X-Men 97. You're gonna love X-Men 97 as it gets into some of the later episodes. Episode 5 in particular is sooooooo good. As for naming it X-Men 97 due to when the original show ended, it seems the original show ended in December of 1996 and so the new show is picking up the next year in 1997. Love it! If you haven't seen my timeline video on the original show, you can catch it here: ruclips.net/video/y6i8Zp3hLrc/видео.html. It's a nice way to relive all of the episodes of that original series but in an overall timeline. I also did one for the Spider-Man timeline here: ruclips.net/video/s6ewkaijMeU/видео.html. Have fun watching X-Men 97. It's incredible!
@@AbitofEverything4U yeah, your videos are on a watchlist, totally! These shows had a multiverse before it hit the mainstream, so there are much to learn! Last episodes aired autumn 1997, graduation day for example 20.09.97
Right...the timeline is kinda wild, as the final season is very compact from a timeline standpoint and ends in Dec, 1996, but the air dates stretched all the way into late summer 1997. And good point about the shows having a multiverse before it was mainstream. The shows were so ahead of their time!
"looks" like the goblin queen as if the toy's name isnt on the package or listings........and thats legos, its not the same. these toys are specifically labeled "xmen 97" and they are all characters that have been confirmed to be in the show if you followed the interviews and comic con press showcases. nightcrwaler, sentinels, x-cutioner, baby nathan and all the xmen are in the line.
Good points...I'll be honest, I've been so burned by the lego sets being inaccurate that I don't trust any of the action figures, funkos, etc. But you're right, they are official action figures, so they are likely 100% accurate.
I know this is completely unrelated but have you seen the teaser for beetlejuice beetlejuice? I’m unsure on how you feel about the first film (and the musical) but I’m so excited for the sequel this year
You could watch the episodes that I mention in the video, which are: S1 E1-2, SE E7, S1 E13, S2 E7-8, S3 14-17, S4 E6, S4 E 17, S5 E10. Amazingly, all of those are referenced (to some extent) in the opening two episodes of X-Men 97. However, none of them are required viewing. If all you watched was S1 E1-2 and S5 E10, that would be enough. It would give you a taste of the show and you'd be all set!
I don't believe Magneto is really there to make amends. The way he acts is too predatory, I think he wants the X-Men for some as yet unknown purpose. Add in the way he is manipulating Rogue and how Bishop hasn't seen any possible future where Magneto leads the X-Men and I find it very hard to believe he's genuinely trying to turn over a new leaf.
Yep, as a contacts wearer myself, I do go back and forth. But if you throw in the incorrect hair color as well as a totally different hair style, I think the animators just messed up. I remember first watching that and honestly having no clue that dude was Gyrich. Heck, his face is even thicker. Like no part of him remotely looks like Gyrich. Too funny!
Maybe something I'm not remembering, but Bishop isn't where the braclet that lets him stay in the present. How is he still here? Did his visit to the nexus of time give him a pass? Did Beast find a way to keep him here?
Good question...I kinda think the bracelet is what lets him travel to the past and it seems like that might broken, which is why Hank was working on it. But I'm really hoping they explain that in an upcoming episode.
Well, you only need the bracelet if you travel using the time gate, I watched his last appearance in the original series and noticed that when he collided with Apocalypse, he lost his bracelet, and then he returned with the others to the present in Cable's time machine. So i guess having traveled with Cable's time machine is what allows him to stay in the present without having to wear the bracelet.
Yeah I thought the first two episodes were awesome, episode 1 was great but episode 2 really got me hooked I'm already dying for episode 3 these week to week releases 😭, also it's so good to see a badass and competent Cyclops again after the live action movies butchered him so badly. 😂
My bad, but I'm not sure I follow. Are you saying he doesn't normally wear glasses or he does? It's definitely weird that he had no glasses in the final episode of the original series.
Yeah, it's really bizarre, tbh. That last episode is the only time in the original series that he had no glasses. Likely a mistake that was a result of the new animation team that took over in that final season.
Good point! I suspect Doctors do indeed have pagers. Was just funny for a teenager to carry one instead of just saying "text me". But in the 90's, those pagers were very popular and ofc there were not cell phones to text people. It was the dark ages! lol!
@@AbitofEverything4U Cell Phones existed in the 90s. TThe text function that we use comes from the 2nd generation of pagers you could use to send messages. They didn't get integrated into phones until the early 2000s.
With all due respect I must say the question in the thumbnail is a dumb question how can you ask if the magic came back within the first 5 Seconds of this show it was clear as daylight that it did
LOL! Yep, it was a question that didn't have a very hard to figure out answer. But ofc that's why I answered it in the first 5 seconds of the vid! This season is gonna be amazing!
@AbitofEverything4U yes for sure this was absolutely amazing and so glad most of the fandom loves it also hopefully this momentum can stay till Deadpool & Wolverine
Yes hopefully soon we make all those annoying sensationalized headlines a thing of the past and maybe make variety reevaluate the way they cover the MCU I could not believe they made that sensationalized story
Loved it my only criticisms are 1. They didn’t use as much theatrical music as the original, like in certain situations they played music for each situation or character, I would like to see them return to that. 2. Magnetos face looks a lot older than in the original swries 3. Rogues lost her ass shape 😂 she needs to hit the gym. 4. Morph was originally a character made for the original series it was only later they added him into the comics with the new look, but if we are true to how he was originally introduced, he was a man that could shape shift and he wasn’t camp/gay/non binary. 5. No explanation given to why bishop is there- no explanation what happened to shard but I’ll give them at least 4 episodes to clean it up and explain it.
Yeah, I'm really curious about #5. And dang it, that was indeed Shard. I grabbed that screen cap and then spaced that while making the vid. But yeah, I want to know why Bishop is there. Beast tinkering with his time travel device could be a clue.
Uhh, yeeaahhh, as someone who never watched the X-Men cartoon series back then, I'm still not really convinced that X-Men 97 is something I'd be interested in, despite whatever MCU multiverse connections there might be... 😕
I can definitely understand your skepticism. My son is a huge MCU fan but he isn't sure he wants to watch it either. So I suggested that he hold off for abit and we'll see how the story progresses. It's always something you can check out once the season has fully dropped and that might even be more fun that watching it a week at a time, tbh.
I enjoyed it so far. I'm hesitant because i can't tell yet if they are trying to ruin certain characters. Like wolverine for example. With how he called cyclops Dad or some shit in the x jet idk if they are trying to treat down a bunch of characters like they did with Luke Skywalker. I don't need forced modern day agenda in my X-Men. I absolutely hate when Twitter weirdos exclaim " if you don't want forced agenda then you don't know about X-Men"... Biggest strawman I've ever heard. There is a difference between subtext and context. You can easily have morals and acceptance as a message without beating someone over the head with it. Kinda like the newer planet of the apes. You can look at it symbolically or just enjoy the ride. You should be able to look deeper into a story if you want or just enjoy wolverine clawing robots... " You know how wolverine is obsessed with Jean and had hundreds of women in the comics... Well now he's gay the fans will love it." Said an out of touch person. I hope they didn't do this. I hope it was just a sparring after getting depressed about the women he loves having a kid with someone else. We just don't need our favorite characters destroyed. I thought Disney was learning...
Very fair comments. I agree, it would be strange to make Wolverine veer off from the personality we came to know and love in those earlier 5 seasons. Fingers crossed that they continue to honor the legacy of the original show.
Hi how big is disney, lionsgate and other studios ? What if disney license all non mcu marvel movies include sony spider man all movies and 1944 captain america, 1977 spider-man series etc ?
Hi most probably you don't know that disney also owned a movie studio called utv motion pictures which use to produce movie for Indian audiences. But unfortunately it got absorbed into disney star a indian subsidiary of disney america .
Haven't watched it yet. Will probably get around to it, but even now i still don't see the need for this show other than cash grab. The ending to the original show was perfectly good, and I think a lot of people would've preferred a completely original X-Men animated series rather than a continuation of the classic.
For sure using nostalgia to draw in viewership but if they did a new series it wouldn’t be the safest option. Imagine the whole “this is woke” crowd if this didn’t appeal to their childhood nostalgia. Hopefully after this is wrapped up they release a new series. I’d like to see the 2000s run up to Krokoan era storylines adapted into animation
I can understand your perspective and you probably aren't alone in that feeling. But I can say for myself, it was great to revisit the characters from that original show and to see some of the open plot lines get resolved. They did a fantastic job of picking up right where the original show left off!
@@Aspooninthetrunkx-men is WOKE AF lol x-men is literally the most woke comic book and always has been. It's all about being against bigotry and accepting people who are different. We live in bizarro world lol. The fact that people are against that sort of thing now because it's cool to be fash speaks volumes about them.
@@imnotmephistoAgreed...the X-Men have always tackled the biggest issues facing modern society, not the least of which is how the LGBTQ community is treated.
Yeah, that was quite a shock. But seeing the upcoming "lifedeath" episodes, I see where they are going with it now. Should be interesting to see how she deals with the situation.
Not sure I follow...my apologies if I was sharing any lies. I was just meaning to point out how the show was using the storming of the UN meeting and the killing of the cops to be an analogy of the events that happened on Jan 6. If I was portraying anything inaccurately, I do sincerely apologize.
My understanding is one officer died of a stoke after being injured while physically engaging with protesters. He returned to his division office and collapsed. There were also 4 suicides following the attack. In particular Police Officer Jeffrey Smith’s suicide in the days after the Jan. 6 riot was ruled a line-of-duty death. It was concluded that “Officer Smith sustained a personal injury on January 6, 2021, while performing his duties and that his injury was the sole and direct cause of his death.”
Oh, bummer. Not a fan I take it? I was pretty impressed, but I know the show isn't for everyone. But I suspect it gonna get really good by the end of the season.
@@FUFUCarnagerapactually the og x men movies were pretty good. They did make the mistake of making this guy named Kevin Feige as Cheif exec for the 3rd one which was the best decision because obviously that was the best one. People who were around to watch it 97 got kids now, mortgages, maybe a few of them go in. Kids? Why do they want some carbon copy of a show we watched? Their world is completely different from ours. @@the-dark-side. I really enjoyed the show, but it's okay if you don't like it. It's not for everyone. Was definitely happy to see it was rated really well on RT, though, so that's good.
It's certainly going to be a topic of debate, I suspect. But anything that leads to a healthy discussion coming from a desire to seek an understanding of another person's point of view is always a good thing in my mind.
@@AbitofEverything4U absolutely and healthy debate is what is needed , cause slqpping a defintion on something that changes every time theyre feeling change doesnt help people like me understand and accept them without being labelledas haters for not just going along with something , but i missthe days where people didnt want to be labeled
Loved the show back then and now but morph reverts when not in his mutantcomic form to "his" male form as well as others but in referring to theyre losing the line means to the fact that its morph and others losing the fight in that padticular battle i dont think its because he goes by "they", 1 person cant be physically more than 1 pefson so they them pronouns are not the right term even as a shapeshifter and no im not against lgbt i just preffer people use the facts and proler terminology for what in this case morph is , in saying that what would you call a natural born mutant female version of morph, just saying a point here i dont ean disrespect to anyone but you wouldnt call a female version of morph and giver her a masculine stance when fighting as in the opening credits of the show for the first episode
I think the biggest trick is finding a pronoun for someone that doesn't have a default gender. I agree that "they" can be abit confusing as it implies more than one. But then again, I'm not sure what pronoun I would recommend, tbh. So I just use what they are saying is preferred out of respect for their wishes. It is indeed a complex topic.
@@AbitofEverything4U i guess but once they get someone to agree they come up with a new one , now ive always thought whether its called gender neutral or non binary that yes in morphs case was yes he can shape shift but does thatmean he has while he is a man , got the man goods or as a women the parts down to the dna or just in looks cuz i know people cant shape shift but there mind can change as much as theyre feelings can doesnt mean the definition should then be changed everytime there minds change cause if people want true acceptance they should accept themselves as they are and not have to change before asking us to change and accept them , and leave out agendas fr om any side that goes to far left or right .. extremism goes to far on both sides

that wasnt dazzler, that was bishop's sister shard. that was season 4, there was a whole season after that. bishop and shard went back to the future and bishop came back in the gap between season 5 and xmen 97. and the psychics werent kidnapped by immortus. they were captured by apocalypse and immortus in disguise as bender helped bishop to free the psychics, thus getting rid of apocalypse so he (immortus) can rule the nexus once more.
I absolutely loved these first 2 episodes and i havent seen the original show

Yeah, it was a fantastic start to the series and immediately took me back to the experience I had with the show 20+ years ago!
asking "did the magic return" took me back to when timberlake came out with "sexy back" and prince said "sexy never left" lol thats how i feel with this. magik "the magic never left. read our comics"
lol! Well said...sexy never left...and neither did the magic!
Really loved the first two episodes, 2024 is going to be a really big year for the X-Men with this show and Deadpool and Wolverine.

This channel has done a lot to get me interested in classic marvel animated series!!
How cool to hear that! Yeah, I love those classic marvel animation series, especially the X-men and Spider-Man from the 90's. They showcased some fantastic long form storytelling that had never been done before and in many ways paved the way for the MCU as we know it.
You did a great job with the breakdown, Joof
38:33 I also felt that. Why would the original Jean say it like that?
What if that is the clone, and Sinister actually sent her to pretend like the real Jean? We'll see i guess.
Also, Phase Zero released an interview with the director of the show, Jake Castorena; do check that out. Aaron (the interviewer) asks Jake about the cameos at 8:20. I'll dm you the video

Oh wow...I had totally forgotten that. Thanks for the refresher on that!

Yeah, hopefully they'll give him a nice story arc at some point this season.
Love it! Thanks for sharing all that. I can't wait to see it come to life in the next episode!
I hope spiderman comes back as in animated series spiderman
Fingers crossed...that would be awesome!
cyclops is the best, finally done right. Wow wow. Thank you Marvel.
Yeah, was definitely a #JusticeForCyclops moment with those two episodes!
This show is so good so far!!!

10:02 ive also heard the Hulk cartoon and Avengers: United They Stand tie in
Oops, I left off Hulk.
"Did the magic return?"
No, 97 brought the magic!
So you're NOT into Marvel Legends figures.. but you ARE into "FUNKO POPS"?!
😂😂
ikr...I need to start collecting those figures. They sure looked cool and tbh, made the funko pops look very boring. I don't know that I totally understand the funko craze, but I do love action figures like X-Cutioner. I admit, I'm a sucker for any action figure with heavy artillery or giant swords.
@@AbitofEverything4U Btw I was just busting chops brother.. even tho I'm NOT a fan of Funko Pops...I believe that you like what you like..& no ONE hobby is better than another
That being said..a lot of people also criticize Marvel Legends as well..but I'm a fan/ collector..& both the X Men 97 waves have been EXCELLENT IMO
Btw when I ALSO said that I was just gonna get 1... MAYBE 2 .. Marvel Legends a few years ago..& even tho I don't have a huge collection..its WAY more than 2!
Lastly I would suggest you check out Cyclops & Nightcrawler from that same wave 👑
Nice...I'll check out both Cyclops & Nightcrawler. Great to hear you were satisfied with them. I've been impressed with all the ones I've seen so far
Great breakdown
Thanks for the positive feedback...really appreciate it!
a small thing, but the woman Bishop is hugging in the one scene you mentioned isn't Dazzler, it's actually Bishop's sister Shard.
Yeah, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, and Hulk definitely seem to be connected. I may indeed try to see if I can pull it all together into a timeline.
what is interesting is that Colossus never used that costume / uniform in the original series.
Good catch!
X-Men 97 Cyclops is an Ads of Cyclops in Deadpool and Wolverine i guess cuz Marvel studios did the same with Cap Carter and Sinister Strange (What If...?)
That's a good theory...I do suspect X-Men 97 will end up tying into the main MCU at some point for sure!
@@AbitofEverything4U Hopefully
🤞
There's this weird intro part where you can see Mr. Sinister having some kinda influence on Morph.
Morph isn't supposed to be able to replicate their powers. This seems like a power upgrade which is consistent with Mr. Sinister. Madelyn Prior being in the mix is another potential sign of Mr. Sinister being involved. Magneto and Rogue and whatever allows them to be able to touch is weird for this timeline but Rogue has learned to control her powers in the main comic book timeline. In this timeline it may have something to do with Mr. Sinister.
Great points....yeah, Mr. Sinister's finger prints are all over this season!
39:10-Glad you brought this up. And the marketing has shown Madelyne Pryor as appearing in the show
Right...I bet we'll be getting her perhaps as early as next episode!
@@AbitofEverything4U Would be on interesting to see for sure, especially if they lean in to the angle that "Jean" in the first 2 episodes was actually Madelyne Pryor, adds more layer to the original series finale
Yep...can't wait to see where things go from here!
Awsome video x-men 92 and Spider-Man 94 was my frist discovery of marvel I think both Spider-Man and x-men are marvel at best
Both of those shows were so much fun. I suspect they brought in a ton of fans just like you that had never seen Marvel before. Thanks for sharing your experience with those shows!
rouge also gets there memories as well when she gets there powers (med school ) in this case at least that is what i believe they are saying
Yeah, it does kinda make sense that would happen. Good call!
Finally got the time to start watching, and what a great couple of episodes. These are easily better than every original episode, awesome.
Bishop being here did confuse me a lot though. Maybe he didn’t leave yet, but then Shard did? Odd…
Also, weird bit of trivia, but apparently that Immortus is the Immortus from the comics.
So glad you are watching the series now. It's been soooooo good. You'll love it!
I felt 8yr old again❤
Yep...just like I was sitting in front of the TV with my big bowl of cereal!
i think jeans vision is doing two different things. she's sensing the other, not pregnant, Jean (who is definitely the original). and then i think it's also hinting towards a possible adaptation of the Genosha massacre
Niiiice! Yeah, I could see that being the meaning behind the vision. Man, maybe it wasn't such a good idea for the poor Morlocks to go to Genosha after all!
That's not Dazzler hugging Bishop. It's Shard.
ikr? Can't believe I said that. I grabbed that screen cap for the vid and then didn't get to recording things until a day later and totally had a brain melt down. Ugh. Great catch. So what are your theories on why Bishop is still in the present instead of back in 2055?
it’s so awesome hearing another fan get giddy about all this nerdy sh!t😂
Thanks! I'm so glad it shows in my vids that I am a 100% nerd and I love talking about the MCU!
Loki Season 2 was great too.
I agree...this is the X-Men we've been waiting for. Gives me very high hopes for their eventual arrival in live action the MCU!
@@movielover7565 Loki season 2 was amazing, but for me, as someone who isn't a huge fan of his character, it didn't really excite me. I was super happy with it, and it was an extremely amazing show that I watch over and over again, but for me X-Men and guardians beat it out just because I love those characters a lot more
@@john_comi Yeah, X-Men and Guardians are pretty awesome!
For example,
X-Men the Animated Series S3E11 "Dark Phoenix - Part I: Dazzled" aired on November 12, 1994
X-Men: The Animated Series S3E12 "Dark Phoenix - Part II: The Inner Circle" aired on November 12, 1994
X-Men: The Animated Series S3E13 "Dark Phoenix - Part III: The Dark Phoenix" aired on November 19, 1994
Spider-Man S1E01 "Night of the Lizard" also aired on November 19, 1994
Like is that the timeline? or am I wrong? I'd say I am wrong because like how it was said in the video, Charles's death certificate doesn't match the publish date. So, if the publication date isn't the timeline, then what is it? or am I overthinking?
Great question...and that's indeed why I want to do a timeline for the Animated series. To determine the official timeline, I'll have to look for timeline hints in each episode and piece together when it all happens, similar to looking at the date of Charles "death" in relation to Jean's pregnancy and how that let us know the first episode is likely in late summer of 1997. Should be a fun exercise to see how it all ends up!
15:17 i think they named the show 97 because it ended in 97?)
By the way, just started watching, watched two episodes, oh my world, the show is mindblowingly spectacular, I get goosebumps when I watch every video for the show marvel published on their channel.
TLDW: Yes!
ikr? Sooooo good!
The first episode of this season is the best episode in the entire series. Old show does not hold up
Yeah, the new season got off to a fantastic start. Can't wait for the next episode to drop!
I know this is completely unrelated but have you seen the teaser for beetlejuice beetlejuice? I’m unsure on how you feel about the first film (and the musical) but I’m so excited for the sequel this year
I definitely need to watch that teaser...I've heard good things about it and I really hope the new movie is a hit!
Should I watch anything before X-men 97 to set the tone/understand backstory?
You could watch the episodes that I mention in the video, which are:
S1 E1-2, SE E7, S1 E13, S2 E7-8, S3 14-17, S4 E6, S4 E 17, S5 E10.
Amazingly, all of those are referenced (to some extent) in the opening two episodes of X-Men 97. However, none of them are required viewing. If all you watched was S1 E1-2 and S5 E10, that would be enough. It would give you a taste of the show and you'd be all set!
@@AbitofEverything4U Okay sweet thanks! Yeah sorry I stopped watching the video not to spoil myself haha
Oh, no problem at all. Very smart more. Hope you enjoy checking out some of the earlier episodes!
Excellent points! Yeah, that line from Bishop was very interesting. I think you have a great theory!
You know that some people wear contacts for most of the day, and then switch to glasses depending on the situation, right?
Yep, as a contacts wearer myself, I do go back and forth. But if you throw in the incorrect hair color as well as a totally different hair style, I think the animators just messed up. I remember first watching that and honestly having no clue that dude was Gyrich. Heck, his face is even thicker. Like no part of him remotely looks like Gyrich. Too funny!
Hope Jean in two epsiode is real one not a clone Madelyne Pryor, because it will similar to dc young justice s1
Yeah, hopefully the clone is the one that showed up at the door in the end!
@@luismariogonzalez9767 Ah! Okay, that must explain it. Great catch!
Yeah I thought the first two episodes were awesome, episode 1 was great but episode 2 really got me hooked I'm already dying for episode 3 these week to week releases 😭, also it's so good to see a badass and competent Cyclops again after the live action movies butchered him so badly. 😂
I agree...the first two episodes were awesome and were a definite #JusticeForCyclops moment for him!

My bad, but I'm not sure I follow. Are you saying he doesn't normally wear glasses or he does? It's definitely weird that he had no glasses in the final episode of the original series.
@@AbitofEverything4UOH HE HAD THEM IN THE OTHER EPISODESSSS. I didn’t remember that. Yeah they straight up retconned it then.
Yeah, it's really bizarre, tbh. That last episode is the only time in the original series that he had no glasses. Likely a mistake that was a result of the new animation team that took over in that final season.
Don’t doctors still use pagers?
Good point! I suspect Doctors do indeed have pagers. Was just funny for a teenager to carry one instead of just saying "text me". But in the 90's, those pagers were very popular and ofc there were not cell phones to text people. It was the dark ages! lol!
@@AbitofEverything4U
Cell Phones existed in the 90s. TThe text function that we use comes from the 2nd generation of pagers you could use to send messages. They didn't get integrated into phones until the early 2000s.

Loved it my only criticisms are
1. They didn’t use as much theatrical music as the original, like in certain situations they played music for each situation or character, I would like to see them return to that.
2. Magnetos face looks a lot older than in the original swries

@@AbitofEverything4U absolutely and healthy debate is what is needed , cause slqpping a defintion on something that changes every time theyre feeling change doesnt help people like me understand and accept them without being labelledas haters for not just going along with something , but i missthe days where people didnt want to be labeled
Those were simpler days indeed.
I'm honestly not sure if Morph has any male or female organs in his natural state. That's a very good question.
Gyrich with the glasses looks a bit like Stan Lee, no?
Interesting...yeah, I can see that resemblance.
Couldn´t watch the episodes yet (got a lot to do) but still gonna leave you a comment, for the algorithem
