In today's video, I talk about how I care for my philodendron pink princess plant including tips for watering, lighting and humidity. I recently propagated this plant to stimulate more pink variegation on its leaves and it definitely worked!
Hope you enjoy today's video and if you did, make sure to subscribe to my channel for more planty videos! Thanks for watching.

ahh i just got a baby baby pink princess and i am so excited to watch it grow coming into the growing season c: i was wondering if you could do a care video on ur white princess? i just got a rooted cutting of one, and its in ziplock bag rehab rn until its new growth point and roots mature, but I'd love more info on how to care for it!
will definitely be doing a video in the comin future so stay tuned :D i find my white princess so much nicer than my pink princess so probably about time i do a video!
I've been thinking about getting this plant but im still not sure, yours looks really healthy though!
Melody Cross oh yah I definitely don’t recommend getting it unless you can give it really good conditions such as bright indirect light and decent humidity. Otherwise it doesn’t show any pink and it’s disappointing 😅. But still love this plant now that it’s doing something
Just got my own pink princess! Can you tell a little more about how you cut it to encourage the pink?
just cut right above the most pink leaf and should sprout a new growth and hopefully give you more pink variegation on the new leaves
Can i put grow lights over it- or do they need to be indirect? Mine is like … 1.5-2 feet away from the light i have. Thank you!!
I got a gorgeous baby PPP from JOMO in Toronto. The problem I am having is they new leaves keep burning. I had it a foot a way from my ikea greenhouse and it burns, so moved it 3.5 feet from a less intense light and it’s burned. I don’t know how much further to pull it back or maybe it would be happier in all darkness. Who knows!
yah i find it does not like bright light at all and must be indirect!! or else the leaves get all ugly unfortunately
@@GloriasPlants thanks! I think you are absolutely right. I just haven’t found the spot for it yet. The funny thing was, the 2nd leaf was 1/2 pink and it did not burn at all.
Hi I am new for your channel.please advice me if I going for holiday for 10 days .does this plant live ?I am from London and need to go for holiday in July for 10 days please reply dear. Before I go for holiday I will give some water
it's probably best to have someone care for your plants or at least check on them if you'll be gone for more than 7 days in my opinion!
@@GloriasPlants thanks dear
@@GloriasPlants 7 days would be fine I guess thanks
Ho how many weeks will it take to grow a new potted pink princess
Would you worry about humidity that’s too high? I have a nice grow light in my laundry room and it stays pretty humid in there? I’m thinking it might be a good spot.
If you have good airflow such as keeping the door open in the laundry room, high humidity won’t be a problem!
great video! can you explain how long it took for the cutting to show new growth? my cutting does not look so good and hasn't pushed out any new leaves, there isn't even a bud growing suggesting new growth. im not sure how to help it. the leaves are starting to curl and lose some rigidity. any suggestions?
So I would definitely say the original parent plant shoots out new growth before my cutting did because the cutting had to first develop a root system before putting out a new leaf. It took about 3 ish months for the cutting to produce a new leaf. You just have to be patient to be honest and provide it with indirect light and maybe up the humidity
Gloria’s Plants thank you for your help! I hope mine looks like yours soon 🙏🏼
hi.. i just propagated a newly cut pink princess with 1 root. should i water it daily or wait for it dry out? and how would i know if it is already stable? what are the signs that it is not surviving? thank you
If it already has an actual root I would water it normally, but if you have just an aerial root that you stuck into soil, maybe just a bit more water than usual.
@@GloriasPlants hi thank you for your answers. I cannot identify if its already an actual root or not since it is topcut and produce only a single root. Could you advise what potting mix can i use for it. will a potting soil mix with fine perlite works?
Hi! I have a question! I just bought a propagated pink princess, unrooted cutting. should I just put it in soil or should I try to propagate in water? I can't find a straight answer anywhere and don't want to mess up.
mariahtolonen I’ve personally had success with water propagation for my pink princess but there are various ways to do it so it’s a personal preference
@@GloriasPlants thank you so much! :)
hi, i have a new leaf on PPP and it hasnt hardened after a week, is that normal? theres a new leaf on the way so i am not too concerned but was wondering if you have tips for hardening new leaves? thank u!
it needs air circulation along with decent humidity for leaves to harden off. Maybe give it some time or remove it from an enclosed area to give it better air circulation
Where did you get that beautiful plant?
my boyfriend got it for me for valentines day and it was from a private seller on fb marketplace unfortunately :( sorry!
What is your soil mix pls..?
usually 2 parts potting mix and 1 part perlite +/- a handful of bark!
