High pressure cylinders are designed to rip open and not explode into pieces. It may have been the pure energy in the escaping air that 'picked up' items around it and used them as projectiles. I hope everyone affected makes a full recovery. When pressurising tanks like that I've seen them immersed in a water filled tank so if anything goes wrong there is a lot of spilt water but minimal damage. I'm sure they will have new proceedures in place very soon

I can only imagine how it felt as I had a passenger lap in a road spec m3 on the nordschleife with a pro driver and that left me feeling shaken! That's a fair amount of energy released from a bursting cylinder
Reminded me of going on a track day with my brother's car. I lasted 3 laps. Had to get out before I saw my lunch again 🤢. Took me a couple of hours to getr my head straight again.. You were certainly lucky in not getting caught in that explosion..
It's funny you should mention lunch, there was some food laid on in a lounge but not many people were partaking - I sort of knew what to expect from a taxi ride so didn't have too much but only later realised I'd been out with a driver who was practicing for a race on the next day, I may as well have not been there as he was doing it all for his benefit not mine - kind of cool in a way but boy was it brutal (and hot!)
Brave pills required to be sutured into passenger seat of RS3 - great experience - and yes car pits can bring risks and glad Porsche photo took you both longer than usual - great content as always 🎯👏⚡️
Thanks Malcolm, the passenger ride was billed as a taxi ride which can be pretty tame in a road car. It was more like a ballast ride, ie the driver pretends you aren’t there and drives like a quali lap albeit with a bit more weight on right. Very uncomfortable but glad I did it 😅
In some ways I do as well Gary, it kept me sane during lockdowns in 2020, escaping in it in early July when we were allowed to (to Suffolk) was one of the best holidays ever
Amazing channel helping us normal people escape to the vw scene we can only dream. Keeping the massive VW group alive and positive that's its still growing. Thankyou again for your amazing content with the help of Kate obviously unfortunately standing on the road side sometimes. We love you Kate 😂

A real shame the day ended the way it did - simply a random incident. On a different note, when or are you releasing a 3rd instalment of your GT4 Euro tour (being a fellow GT4 owner I'm particularly interested)?
yes indeed very random and while it's of no help to those injured, it could have been a lot worse. This 10 day GTI romp around Germany has hatched all its videos now. It did come quite soon after returning from Turin in the GT4 so not all those videos have been published yet. However looking at the view numbers recently I am not sure if it's viable to edit the raw footage, one is Italian Job film location in Turin (no GT4), the other is a drive to the Red Rock road but the intro has gone AWOL and that's important but even with it, it's pretty weak on reflection. There is one more road trip to get in before meteorological autumn kicks in but unsure which car as yet...
