Another possibility is that like everything else in the GB technology line, these might not be the same objects, they may in fact be iterations of the technology over a long period of time. Unlike the PKE Meter or the Proton Packs and Traps. The googles may have required reinvention and re-engineering as ghosts might have adapted to the technology, or have shown to have various ways to avoid visual detection by people, ghosts may be capable of phasing themselves through many spectrums, requiring a rethink of the goggle technology to illuminate and render something that not only is hard to visualize but in fact has intelligent control over it's invisibility. So illuminating and rendering something that is not only difficult to see but in fact doesn't WANT to be seen. Egon has been seen throughout the franchise as adapting their tech as they encounter different ghosts and other worldly entities in a cat and mouse game of ghosts vs Ghostbusters. The Ecto-goggles may be the GB's Achilles' heel in that it's taken Egon many more iterations to get them working in most environments and conditions than any other tech they have, and in fact may STILL be an issue given that in the first few minutes of the new movie, the character we first see ISN'T wearing ecto-goggles even though given the situation they really _should_ be.
Absolutely killing it with these videos! I really love this dive into the equipment. Great merch too! I got the Shandor blueprints last week and they look perfect in my office.
When I was a kid I always loved it when Peter wears them during the montage sequence, but was also confused as to why Ray puts them on after they defeat Gozer during the end credits, and decided that on their way down to street level, there was some random ghost they caught, which is why he put the goggles on again! I was a very lonely child....
Personal experience here, my goggles where put on my belt Gb 1&2 style over the trap handle and was kinda a pain so they’d go on my forehead Rookie style when I got fed up with the “Clack clacks”
Not yet, we couldn't make the Proton Pack since there's no way to build a cyclotron small enough to fit the frame yet. But everything else is able to be made, including the Ghost Trap.
The goggles can be replicate. In Asia ghost hunting shows, the camera lens used for filming are usually being blessed by master and could get some ghost capture in the film.
i was about to say at the beginning of this that the toy was called ecto goggles and since that’s what kids wanted from the store that’s it’s remembered as
real world the west used the crystal as a pke meter, In Asia we use a fengshui compass as the pke meter and the more violent the needle shake the stronger the presence of supernatural.
to me they are the pke goggles as they seem to have some link to the pke meter as well as just being a simple goggle form of the meter of the same name
Um...It would seem to be a more visual take on the PKE's display. The little column of red descends the closer you get to your target and glows bright green when you see it.
One thing I just have to ask; you keep referring to them as the boys in gray (in all your videos that I've watched) but those suits are absolutely tan in color. Where did the boys in Gray name come from?
Casey Kasem nicknames them that in the montage. In the early days of the internet (before we had a good look at the khaki flight suits) many debated what color they were because images sometimes made them look gray. Why Casey called them that, I'm not sure.
He claims: "For instance, the presence of noxious, possibly hazardous waste chemicals in your basement." Class I's are odorous gases. It's possible individuals smelled those gases but the proton packs in that amount of time could not produce toxic waste.
@@ChannelingSpirits the thing is they operate a laser grid as part of their containement unit and the possibilty of them using chemical lasers is there.
Maybe. The Video Game was canon, it may no longer be. The official Ghostbusters app has them listed as "Ecto-Goggles" with a hyphen. So far, that seems likely as the most canon name.

Of all the original equipment from the first movie, I often wonder if there'll be a vid for the oft-forgotten "Sniffer".

I really like how you found information about what real world items the props were made of! Thank you
Your information is just incredible!
Bravo!!!
New subscriber.
I'm not convinced that the naming convention isn't just a giant troll job by Ghost Corps, keeping the fandom and all the forums on their toes.
I remember always calling them the ecto-goggles from the Kenner toy line
All Ghostbusters equipment could be replicated in real life? My mind is blown away into pieces!

This is awesome
"The boys in Gray" are actually the boys in "Tan", lol.

I’ve been waiting for this!
Nice work!
In the first 80's game it was "image intensifier"

@Channeling Spirits >>> The only thing they haven't been called is _"Super-visors."_
😊😊😊
Well. I would say they work well.
Hey Heidi! Do you like hunted holidays? What others are there besides Halloween? Thanks.! 👻
Day of the dead
0:40 - "Resistance is futile."
Now with Polaroid
i have a question, what about the number display that appears on the left side of the goggles screen? what's up with that?
Um...It would seem to be a more visual take on the PKE's display. The little column of red descends the closer you get to your target and glows bright green when you see it.
THE GOGGLES DO NOTHING!!
Why do the lenses have to be offset?

You guys are hilarious.
The goggles are based on the "Camera Obscura" lore... #Gematria
But theres still one question that never was answered...Was Walter Peck right about the toxic waste ?
He claims: "For instance, the presence of noxious, possibly hazardous waste chemicals in your basement." Class I's are odorous gases. It's possible individuals smelled those gases but the proton packs in that amount of time could not produce toxic waste.

Ok so the canon name is para goggles
