I have a 60 gallon cube with fish and clean up crew (sails, hermits) pistol shrimp, goby and fish . I use dechlorinated tap water, mix salt and let it circulate with a sponge filter with a power head aeriation, activated carbon, and heater. I let this run for several days. I make sure of perimeters ( salitinty and temp.) when I do water change. I do a 10% water change biweekly this is to insure that my snails, hermits, crabs and shrimp have the necessary trace elements to keep their shells and exoskeletons heathy and growing. I do this instead of adding chemicals to my system. It's small enough that I doesn't shock my system and it keeps my over all perimeters in check. I clean the glass, turn the sand, blow off the rocks with a large turkey baster, rinse my filter media, clean skimmer cup. Then I change 10% of the water it doesn't take long and for me it's part of the fun of the hobby. You know keeping your tank looking clean and healthy. My live stock seem to love it too. I have done this for about 7 years now and have never lost any of my live stock that you wouldn't loose normally (snails and hermits). All my fish, crabs and shrimp are my original live stock. It also keeps any nuisance algae from becoming a problem. Just thought I would throw some light on how I do water prep, water changes and why out there. Hope it helps.

Is there a video on how you clean 🧽 your filter media? And how / when you change it.

What about these filtering water jugs? They're supposed to remove alot of suspended dissolved solids. Would they do in a pinch?

Maybe mention that you might want to unplug your heater if your water change will be exposing the heater to air for a long period of time.

Hello, I’m 13 years old and from Bangladesh 🇧🇩. I’m planning to start a 120 gallon mixed reef tank next year. Can u tell me what would be a good fish and invert stocking? (clownfishes, nassarius snails, trochus snails and red fire shrimp are a must obviously 🙄) Pls. I am asking you now as I want to finish all of my proper research in the fishes before getting them as I want to give the, a good home. And one more thing, can I use 6,000 Kelvin led flood light (white) for my refugium? Ik this comment is too big and I’m sorry for that. But any reply would be of great help for me.
