The Botswana Special was the first I ever saw of Top Gear, back in 2009. The Grand Tour finale hit so hard.
17 years later, they returned to where it all began…simply incredible.

I love how jeremy brakes the windows in from the outside. The glass falls into the car. The weight isn't any different it's just in a different place.

I gotta give credit to Clarkson and May, they didn’t put a finger on Hammond’s car. They usually like to mess with each other including with the cars but they knew Hamster loved Oliver so they didn’t do anything to hurt it. Just goes to show much the three of them are truly good friends.

Boring fact: After the Botswana special, Richard became so attached to the Opel Kadett he bought it for his own and names it Oliver. The car has been brought back multiple times on top gear for challenges.

Watched “One for the road” and had a brief moment of déjà vu with that scene where they pulled up to Kubu Island, I had the shock and sadness when the exact scene from 8:10 flashed up on the screen and it brought us back to our memories 17 years younger. Thank you very much Jeremy, James and Richard for all those memories created, it’s been a great pleasure watching you guys love the car guy dream we’ve wanted to live.
It's kind of sweet how much Hammond loves his car. I'm really happy it survived this special.
He even bought it, had it shipped back to England, and had it restored. Dude really loves that car, he'll probably have it until the day he dies

Without exaggerating, I bawled my eyes out, cried like a little kid, when they shook hands at the end of The Grand Tour: One for the Road. Jeremy, Richard and James have given me so much joy and love for cars, I can´t even put to words how thankfull I am. Theres NEVER going to be a show that can get even remotaly close to yours. From the bottom of my heart, Thank You for these amazing years
If The Grand Tour is anything like this, I will be so happy. Getting to see sights like these was the best part about Top Gear.

That A-model Opel Kadett is one of the best cars of all time and it was a really nice move from Hammond, that he did bring it back to Europe after the trip. It is simple, cute, reliable, allround fantastic little car. And it showed, that simplicity is the key to win afterall.

2:24 there's something about this scene I just can't wrap my head around. Hammond's "So tomorrow we die then." adds such a real and melancholy feel to the whole experience. Hard to believe this came from a show about cars.

After watching the final episode on grand tour, all I got to say is thanks to the trio for giving us a lasting smile. You have cured many depressions for me and for that I am eternally grateful thanks for 22 years. Cheers lads

@Thibault Derese I would assume there is food and water in a direction that doesn’t require crossing the giant deadly salt flats.
To be fair, there most likely were a bunch of random kids just watching with bemusement at what they were seeing, and adding them in only highlighted how weird the 3 bloke's actions actually are.
well they hadnt gotten very far at that point so maybe they were still close to the village

The production value and editing are just mind blowing. I'd love to see the size of the support column they're dragging behind them. Must be half a Dakar rally's worth.

The Grand tour would have been very similar Top Gear, but it the BBC made many restrictions and copyright laws for their shows after the Trio left, that it was very difficult to make the show similar

I think its about the blokes doing or shown doing actual labour in their challegnes, like they actually done stuff themselves (even if we know thats not true) i guess them growing old was part of it I guess, that why early 2000-2010 top gear was the best.
