Yep, for 16000 dollars you can find an old supercar for sure. And in the UK there are more of them.
The UK have less respect for old cars and hanging onto them like we do in America. So yes, you can get these cars that cheap there. It's also their home turf. Here in the states? Hardly. More like $50k for ones in the same condition.
Yea they bought them for under 10,000 pounds tho... Which is about 15k USD
This is one of my favorites. Hilarious, great acting, great cars, great music.
"I can't believe someone's put a Ferarri badge on that, when it isn't one." Much like the Top Gear name being used by Fred and Paddy's Road to Nowhere.
Or Jeremy's SS badge
"There's a subframe that holds the engine in and the wheels on. It's made of rust." Doesn't exactly fill one with confidence.

JAMES HAS BOUGHT HIMSELF AN AA TRUCK!
ROFL!
😃😃😃😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Absolutely classic Top Gear. Unscripted, genuine, hilarious.. ”James has bought an AA truck!”.
this makes me feel so old, all these cars are relatively valuable collectibles now
3:40 "that's a lap dancing club" he instantly knew
I would like to make a vote that this is the best cheap car challenge ever done by Top Gear
All those great classics have at least tripled in value since shooting this episode!
Budgetcars that day, today the Ferrari 308 gt 4 starts at = 45.000€ the Maserati Merak begins at = 67.000€ and for the Lamborghini Urraco you have to pay = 55.000€ or more
Probably my favorite challenge yet. Anything with "Supercar" and "Budget" in the same sentence sounds like something to be affraid of, but it also gives me the sense that one day I could own a car with a wicked badge without breaking bank.
My name is Dino :( although i can confirm I am slow and wet.
im also dino but im not slow or wet lol
nice
it's dyno not dino 😃
No, it's dino. Crazy thing, italian spelling is different from english, imagine that. The letter Y isn't even part of the alphabet there. Madness.
I'm also Dino, although I'm neither Italian nor wet, I am relatively slow :D
This is peak top gear when a factual show started to morph into an entertainment one
10 year old me overclocking our family's laptop: 4:48
they were so young !
What is the tune at 4:10 ? (Except for being Dardue - Sandstorm)
Roxy Music - Love Is The Drug
Kociboss You can use a app called Shazam to find the names of some songs.
⚫️❔ 🎶 4⃣:1⃣0⃣ ❓ (🌖 🤓 Dardue - 🌩)
I remember seeing this on TV when it was first aired, I laughed so hard when James turned up on the back of an AA truck!
Little Green Bag could fit so many intros in Top Gear. Always love their music choices

You cannot tell me this was scripted

At 2:30 the red car's headlights goes up/down during cuts
To be fair, James's "trained eye" was correct in saying that Jeremy's car was garbage
But his eye still got him a car that constantly drained electric, either he just didn't care or his eye for that type of thing isn't too good
@@ghillepig2 It depends on whether he knew about the faulty alternator at the time of purchase. An electrical fault like that is not something you can diagnose just by looking at the car.
5:24 "Aye? No it's not a kit car, its a Lamborghini!
...Philistine."
5⃣:2⃣4⃣ "👨📛 ❓ 🙅♂ 👉 🚫 🔌 🚗, 👉 🏎 ❗
....👿."
1:55 they chopped in james saying "watch" then "the headlamps"
1⃣:5⃣5⃣ 👫 🔪 👨📛 💬 "⌚" ⤴ "💡"
Man I miss those time when I stayed up late watching the show with my dad despite there would be school the next day
James calling that guy a Philistine had perfect timing and context! Hilarious!
5:49 anyone gonna tell them that's a greek song
It hits different now, knowing the trinity is about to end.
Hammond when talking about the sub frame-
'.....it's just made of rust' 😂😂 proper made me laugh
"Right. Now, the battery is discharging,
the oil temperature is very high, the oil pressure is very low,
the engine temperature is off the end of the scale, I'm running out of petrol...
but THE CLOCK IS CORRECT."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! James LOL!
All these cars have significantly appreciated in value. -2018
"It's from ASDA. You've got a George Car!"
Hammond in his 1979 Ferrari, it seems like such an old car.
This aired in 2005. If this aired now, with equivalently old cars, he would be showing up with a 1998 model.
Excuse me while I take my ibuprofen.
Watching in 2024 the cheapest on carandclassic...
Ferrari 308 GT4 - £35k
Maserati Merak - £57k
Lamborghini Urraco - £70k
you are thinking of cars in mint or in good conditions
There is no other Top Gear cast in my humble opinion. 🍻 from Florida. Thanks UK, for this gift to car culture!
