Frank sinatra was so impressed that he immediately wanted to do a duo with him, shit happened between their record labels and it couldn't be done, so Frank went to Tijuana just so he could attend a live performance of him, went backstage and talked to him. Thats how special, José José was.
But also how special Sinatra was
De hecho José José tiene algunas canciones como New York, en su repertorio de interpretaciones.
What a duet that would’ve been
Wow thanks for the story

5:08 Just by looking at Marco Antonio Muñiz's face you can tell that was an astounding performance, he was completely flabbergasted. He was like: "Holly shit! that´s singing!" And he is one of the greatest Mexican singers ever.
He was hornswaggled 🤯🤯🤯
and at 4:58 Angelica Maria is almost crying
I really like seeing how happy Alberto Vázquez looked (5:14) for José José's successful performance as well!
He was Frank Sinatra's favorite singer, when he heard it the first time he said: "When this boy breathes." Every year I saw him singing in Las Vegas. Frank described him as the best singer he had ever heard.
Where did you get this info from? It is amazing!

Please listen "Tu Primera Vez" with José José, is from another Mexican singer-songwriter José María Napoleon, it's an amazing interpretation, especially the breathing part, thanks...

Tbh, most times translations don't do songs justice. It's not just the songs but only by knowing the direct translation and cultural significance accompanied by knowing at the right time why some particular words, syllables or letters are sometimes emphasized that you get to connect at the level it was intended.
Hey, there's a lot of beautiful music I don't fully understand either but I'm in awe of the crumbs I'm able to gather 😂

The Sad Man
How sad it was to say goodbye,
When we adored each other so much,
Even the swallow migrated
Foreshadowing the end.
How sad everything is without you,
The seas of the beaches are gone,
All colours turn dyed in gray,
Everything is loneliness now.
I don't know If I'll see you once again,
I don't know what will become of my life
without the blue star of your being no longer sheding light on me.
Today I want to taste out my pain,
I'm not asking for compassion nor mercy
This love story was written to be eternal
"What a sad man", everyone says I am,
That I'm always talking about you
They don't know that by thinking of your love, of your love,
I've been able to help myself carry on living.
Today I want to taste out my pain,
I'm not asking for compassion nor mercy
This love story was written to be eternal
"What a sad man", everyone says I am,
That I'm always talking about you
They don't know that by thinking of your love, of your love,
I've been able to help myself carry on living

You are a hero, thanks, it's a fantastic traduction, this is so good for English People. I'm Mexican and I love José José. He'll always live in our heart. :')
The translation is literal, it is not an attempt to make it sound good in English... very well done.. I’d only change “this love story was written to be eternal”. To “the story of this love was written for eternity”. My 2 cents..

The translation is perfect for English speakers to see the intention of the song.

5:20 Beth Roars es que su papa de José José era tenor y su mama cantante de Opera, dejaron un legado con José José.
Roberto Cantoral mentioned that he wrote it during a flight back to Mexico to attend the funeral of his mother, to whom it was dedicated. The composition turned out to be very attractive both in its lyrics and its music, as it manages to capture the listener's attention from beginning to end, due to the rhetoric of the lyrics and the unique melody with which it was composed. The impact that the song and its interpretation had was such that the audience present at the festival demanded that José José win it, although in the end it was not so.
Frank Sinatra admired his talent tremendously. Wanted to record with him.
Siendo que fue Sinatra quien lo hizo famoso, obviamente lo admiraba pero mas que nada, por que eran amigos.

An amazing voice that was lost to early before his death. Jose jose una voz inovidable.
The people in the audience include some of the most famous and senior singers of the time. They are in awe of this young singer
Roberto Cantoral wrote this song to his mom that had just passed away, it’s about how he feels so much pain losing a loved one, he was waiting for just the right person to sing it and got a couple of options the girl that was number one or this young man that was just starting but that was really good: Jose Jose, he was entered in this show with”El triste” song but didn’t win, it was all about the songs not the singer, he got third place, and people always said he was “the king with no crown “ to this day no one remembers the first place song and the singer, he had a very tormented life, happy times and very hard times, but he always survived everything including his drinking problem which almost killed him, in his last years he couldn’t sing anymore he lost his voice, he could barely talk, if you guys didn’t know him I invite you to check out his songs and videos of his life, he was he is and will be “ el principe de la canción” forever y para siempre😪❤️
I learned spanish through music...and this was the first song Inheard from him...it impacted me greatly.
R. SNGS you had a great teacher.
The truth is that understanding the words makes him a great interpreter.. All his songs were a hit, the words and the feelings... "All the people tell me im so sad, that i always find me talking about you.. But they dont know and just thunking about your voice is what allows me to keep living" the song is called "the sad guy".. So he is able to trnasmit a love and the sadness he feels for not having "her" in her life. "The story of this love was written for eternity"... you dont know but.. Its not about the chorus is about the "Words".. That was a Festival were "New singers" (new voices of the Year) and Come with a "New Song" .. So if people love that "first hearing the song" melody and voice were cheered

is still treasured, no one remembers who went "first".
I am from Mexico and I have heard José José, a great singer known as "The Prince of the Song"
I love this! Sadly he just passed away this Saturday so this feels even more special! Tysm
RIP Jose Jose
He got everything that was needed, as far as the info that I'v read over the years states, huge lungs and breath capacity, diction and pronunciation, very flexible vocal cords... feeling and passion and for sure the love of Mexican people.
Unfortunately he had also an appetite for self destruction, same as many other talented people. I guess life has to give you both , otherwise you would be perfect or close to it. RIP José José.
Thanks for the video.
Marcel Cabrera correct. About 5 lts of tequila a day at some point.
I don't think he had an appetite for self destruction. He raised to popularity very young and bad influences guided him to alcoholism. They ran his bank account and left him broke and addict. He realized he didn't want that live and registered in AA, he stayed sober for several years, but in the set of the movie "Gavilan o Paloma" some actors insisted in making him drink even knowing he was an alcoholic in recovery and made him fall again, to the point of becoming homeless and without any medical insurance he got some infection in his throat that killed his voice. He met his second wife in his worst point, but with some support from her and from AA again, he recovered and stayed sober for the last two decades. Someone with an appetite for self destruction does not stay sober for that long.
@@granadosvm yes he had, i REALLY DOUBT that he dosnt know what will happen.
Hey who's cutting onions
This was the time where Mexico actually knew who José José was. El príncipe de la canción, meaning the Prince of the song. My dad literally cries with this video, thank you so much for reacting to this video and your reaction to it is very impressive. Rest in Peace José José, sadly his career went downhill really bad at the end and he had throat cancer
This is back when people were actually talented singers.
Yes Indeed. No crappy Pro Tools or Auto Tuner!!!
true. one of my alltime favorites
