Now try the other way round throw the 18grm first then the 22 then the 26 . You three your darts first which does not give a true reflection on the other sets
Interesting... If you have time, I would try again in reverse using your usual darts last, and compare with this test to see if your average still improved with your usual darts, that would eliminate the effect of fatigue or losing concentration over the course of the test. Good video though!
My “Regular” darts are van Gerwens @ 23g, and I have 2 sets identical for practice. I also use a set of heavy 27g thick darts I was given, and I find them very useful when I haven’t been practicing enough. I find that I can change from the light weight darts to the heavy, and vice verse, and my scoring improves almost immediately.
Good video 👌 you would have to do this a few times and throw different darts first each time to get a true idea of which darts are best for you but still great video and the app is brilliant 👌
Weight really matters because of your feel of your throw,i mean if you are playing for quite sometime you know what i mean .the problem here in our place, you cannot test the darts when you will buy,so you have to depend on your friends on trying different weight by borrowing..more power to Darts counter and to darters 🙂
Usually play with 23-24 grams, Traded in a set of 18 gram Unicorn sigma's last weekend, Never taught they would work but my average went up a lot since i have an easier time to be precise on triples and Checkouts etc
I do agree that weight affects your average but you need to have your brother and father throw all those darts also to make the comment that it really does affect your darts. I started with a set of 22g darts then went 26 then went 30 then went 16 for soft tip boards. I still use them for soft tip only. Then went back to my 30g darts for a long time now I'm back on 26g darts but a different set then my old ones. My average is pretty much the same with all my darts with the different configurations of flight set up and steam length. I'm always trying to improve my game
I'll think that it is very much about what weight You are used to, heavy darts is an advantage in the way that You "load" Your arm/throw a lot more than what You do with an 18 gram dart, that You have a lot more "resistense" in the dart, and this could absolutely yield a more consistent result. -However, a lighter dart is physically much easier to throw, and this could also yield better results, so in the end, I'll think that it is about finding the weight that feel natural to You, which load Your arm, but doesn't overload it....
" Does the stems lenght effect your average ? " I know, the best way to know is to try different stems but how does the lenght change your throw ? What's the difference between them ? Thanks for your vids mate! :)
@@dartspracticeroutines5622 / And I heard the opposite! ^^ I've read something about that somewhere (don't remember where): The fact that if you throw fast, you need short stems and vice versa. I use inbetween stems with a 48mm barrel since 4 months now and the first throws were awfull! But I got used to it. And now, when I throw with my old darts (longer +2cm!), it's absolutly not stable but it was going great before! So, is it just a habit ? haha what a curious sport! I love it! ^^
@@PourpierToxique oh well, I lost the plot here😂 Then I guess it's just the way you throw how the stems will affect your darts. Just try to experiment a bit and you'll find the best setup!
Have been looking for my best set of darts for years , had some success with 23g and 21g but always go back to my 38g ! Highest amount of wins in matches and a great consistency under pressure .
Will lighter darts fly higher or lower as majority of my darts go low . I have suffered severe Dartitis in the past and struggle with a decent follow through now . Does this affect throw also?
Theres no way you can tell if the heavier darts throw better averages when youre using 3 different sets of darts that are different shapes/lengths. It just wont be consistant
Throwing 150 darts with your own weight following up with another 150 darts twice at lower weights is not a good way. A better way to do this would be 75 with your own darts 75 at mid weight 150 at low weight then 75 at mid weight and finally 75 at your own weight again. This would better determine to effect of weight change on your average.
Been been playing with a light set of darts switch to a old 26gram darts scoring better been trying to do 121 in 9darts done it more with the heavy darts
I used to use 20g darts and had an average of about 40. I changed to 24g and my average is now between 70 and 80 so yes the weight of the dart does affect your average.
@@DartCounter my darts are 23 g . And I generally throw lower darts or feel I'm needing to reach more . Dont know if because i had years of Dartitis i struggle with follow through but in your opinion would a lighter or heavier dart go higher on the board I'd appreciate some info on this thanks .
It's taken me nearly a year to find my perfect dart weight and set up. 22g is the weight I score my best averages and doubles percentages. I'm hitting around 70 in a best of 19 game. I was hitting mid 50s with a 24g,60 with 26g and with 21g/23g/25g I was hitting 60/64. I use a kite shape flight and midi stem.
Since you threw your own darts and none of the darts were the same model in different weights I would say that totally invalidates this test. You need three sets of the same model dart in different weights. Even then it won't truly be objective as even in the same model the darts may be different diameters and/or lengths for the different weights. On a different note, I threw with front weighted bomb style darts for years until Darren of the Darts Review Channel sent me a set of Harrows Verves (Thanks Darren) a couple of years ago. They're rear weighted and a larger diameter near the rear of the barrel as opposed to a bomb style dart. I was amazed how much my throw improved when I started throwing them. Equipment doesn't make the player but it certainly can help.
This is actually pretty interesting. How different shapes can affect somebody's game. Do you think it was a mental thing or your throw physically suited a different shaped dart?
Hi there, good day to you! Started playing again for a month. I just have some question, how i wish you could be of help. Im using 24g Robson Messina. Does medium stem spinning gyro shaft and ordinary/common shape flights really matters to have a straight path of throwing darts? Is there really such a combination for the 24g pin?
I think that your personal test result is skewed by the fact that your normal darts weigh 26 grams so, "muscle memory" kicks in and you subconsciously feel more comfortable with the 26-gram darts. Try the test with a complete darts novice and you would have a more unbiased result.
@@DartCounter Thank you for your prompt reply and I am glad that you didn't take offense with my critique. I'll be looking forward to your next test of different darts weight. This subject interests me.

Surely it’s because you are used to your own weights? Weight preference is subjective so this test is too 😀
Of course I'm used to the 26 grams, this video is mainly to point out to think about the weight of your own darts as well!
