I came here after OBS recent update talked about multi-video track, when in reality what that should mean is NOT that. this is the best best to be able to record seperate sources at ONCE.
Thanks, works perfectly! You can hide the sources and still record. I've hidden my webcam on the source, added this filter and got 2 files on the output!

0:57 is this a transition you do in OBS? When I try to do something like that using Move Transition + Custom Shaders for the rounded rectangle, I have the problem that in order for Move transition to do the smooth crop, I did the crop at a source level, but the rounded rectangles happen "before" that... I've seen others handle it as two different sources of the webcam, and with the stretching and fading that Move does you can barely see the switch... but this here you did is definitely the same source.. so how do you transition the rounded corners???
Just came to say this is one of the worst Plug Ins I've ever used. Nothing but issues since I've started using it and it's sad seeing so many people push it out like it's the best thing in the world. Played with this a little bit, and as I expected it does not record any audio streams. Would be cool if Exeldro adds in the future (if possible) that you can choose what audio source to record along side the video or none at all. Hmmm....is there a plugin that records only audio?
It records audio for sources that have audio, scenes are not audio sources in OBS. Only sources that show audio in the mixer will record audio for now. I hope to add support for scene audio mixing later.

I can't seem to record my stream + Camera + Gameplay seperately, even tho I got everything setup with the source-record-filter on both seperate sources. Can you only record one 'extra source' in addition to the full stream?
This is an awesome video man! I did have a question though. I want to record just my camlink and the ASIO audio in the scene (basically everything minus my widgets) so I can upload to RUclips. What would be the best way to do this? Would I apply the filter to both the camlink AND the ASIO audio channel or if I record the camlink would the audio be automatically picked up that's coming through OBS? *UPDATE* Nevermind, figured it out, I apologize. I'll leave this here though in the chance that someone else wants to do it. Set the filter on your camera and in the filter select "Different Audio." Set "Audio Track" to none and "Source" to "ASIO Input Capture" (or whatever you're using to capture your audio).
For some reason my GPU goes to 100% usage when i'm recording with this plugin. And even crashes the OBS. I try to use another options but theere is no quality to it. Dunno if anyone can help on that
This plug-in messed up my audio. None of my audio settings have been changed since before I installed this plug-in. And now I can't get my mic audio to work. I can get desktop to work.
This was super helpful! Does this mean that I could pull up a replay from any source all through macros (so basically showing a replay from a non-visible source)? I do a lot of streaming for sports and this is already a game changer as is. Thanks!
i know this is 3 years old and I'm just coming across this but its recording both cam and game perfectly but the mic audio wont record can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it
Hey aswesome video! How do I add a macro hotkey to my obs for source rec? I can't seem to locate it in obs settings. The other effects I use work great. TBH I haven't added filters in months, so I may have forgotten. This works great though, but atm it records twice and looking to on/off it on the fly
Hi there! I just wanted to say that your video/tutorial was awesome. I'm having a bit of a problem though and I could use some help. I'm recording from two sources, my camera and my display. The recording from my display cuts off after 20 minutes, have you seen this issue before? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Nice video bro! Was wondering how the replay buffer actually works? I stream Old School Runescape and I just want to be able to clip my client (last 60 seconds) so I can export it to my editor. Basically, so it doesn't have my webcam and stream overlays in, so it's better suited to RUclips. Is this possible?
It doesn't work at all for me and I have no idea why. I set up everything but it still only records 1 source. The hotkeys for it don't work at all either, so it might not even be initiating. Hotkeys for normal record work just fine, but hotkeys for the source record enabling and disabling do absolutely nothing. Overall I'm just getting the same video I had in the first place. I was running OBS twice (literally launching it 2 times) to record my sources separately, but I want to record 2 different camera views plus gameplay. Doing just 1 camera view is fine, but I am using the Canon EOS Utility to run a clean hdmi since Canon sucks ass and refuses to release a downloadable update where you can run the clean hdmi yourself. The EOS Utility doesn't let me use the camera more than once, otherwise I would have just opened OBS 3 times, one for each source and used a normal hotkey to record (I have plenty of RAM).
Only problem is that you can't crop your camera display, you have to leave it full ratio. Also you can't change to different scenes. Maybe you can buy when I tried it crashed
@@Andilippi well I did want to make sure i was actually even using it correctly also since you didnt actually show it in use. im like.. hmmm i just checkmarked the replay buffer button.. told it 15 seconds.. made sure replay buffer was activated.. i made the 'source record' filter active..waited like 3 seconds.. long enough for it to activate i would assume.. and it just recorded for 3 instead
the playback speed on my recorded video through source record is 2x or more faster, that happened to both game capture only and also the webcam.....I'm using x264 encoder for everything I have an 11 gen i7 intel core and no gpu but the cpu can easily handle the load....... any suggestions
Hey andi the question about the full camera to camera in the corner I asked yesterday is similar to the youtuber mutex, if you could check that out and let me know if it's obs or editing.
Yeah he records sources separately in OBS, it can all be done with just one scene though. I’d recommend recording your cam and gameplay separately as they both stay peak quality!
Sadly, it just crashes for me in OBS version 28 & 29 Usin 0.3.1 in OBS Useing 0.3.2 in OBS 29 I have a find a combo that I can get it to work with. It worked last week, then when it came to streaming this week I crashed my stream 13 times today… Played around with it for about three hours after stream. Can’t figure out a single combo to get it to work. … I’ve actually run out of tutorials to watch in case somebody else has some insight as to why .
I'm struggling with the replay buffer option. Even if I set it to 5 seconds, the recorded file length will be however long the filter was active. I expect the final video to be 5 seconds - think like a clip of recent play.
@@Andilippi indeed that would work, however I do not know in advance when I'm about to do something amazing in a game like Apex or league of legends. So I need the rolling buffer always recording the 5 seconds, then toggle the filter to save it permanently after the amazing moment happens. The out of box OBS Replay feature works as I need, but its limited to the final output, not each source.
im about to try this with my mini pc. my mini pc has a amd 3600 and rtx 3060, im able to multi stream to 6 places and record vertically and horizontally at 5500kbps each for examples sake. all while editing on vegas or after effects. I will need to test this out, i use to use my laptop to record el gato separately. but this is much better.
Really wish I could get this to work as it's an ideal way to get "b-roll" for making thumbnails of my plays but I couldn't get it to record ever despite messing with all sorts of settings. I'm not sure if the tutorial is out of date or is there's something I'm doing wrong.
I can't get to work either - wonder if plugin don't work with newer OBS. I set up and hit record and it records program view vs the actual scene I assigned the filter to.
literally did not show how tf to set it up, there was no next next next next next to press just install, finish and the final product? it not appearing on obs
@@Andilippi I have but he was more to the dismissive side. I ended up coding up own program that works alongside source record to add audio. It's a slightly odd workaround, but it works.
"Now its recording, just the gameplay" except.. its not *just the gameplay*, its the gameplay, and your webcam, and the alerts. But im assuming you can actually ONLY record the gameplay and your webcam, and cut out the alerts.
Me watching this video: Ehhh decent feature but not super useful for me personally. Me like 5 seconds later: Awww shit he's playing Final Fantasy 7.... OK I'll watch the whole video just for that lol

*UPDATE*
Nevermind, figured it out, I apologize.
Dunno if anyone can help on that
this video source plugin doesn't work on OBS 27.2.1 until someone updates the plugin
Have you fed it back on the OBS plugin forum / shared the crash logs?
The last reason to consider using SLOBS is now gone!
You know Waldo... you know!
Thanks. this is kind of plugin that "I don't know I need it"
I was wondering where is Replay Buffer vid is I need help
This plug-in messed up my audio. None of my audio settings have been changed since before I installed this plug-in. And now I can't get my mic audio to work. I can get desktop to work.
This was super helpful! Does this mean that I could pull up a replay from any source all through macros (so basically showing a replay from a non-visible source)? I do a lot of streaming for sports and this is already a game changer as is. Thanks!
That is exactly what you can do Jonathan! Just get experimenting!
Black hair? BLACK HAIR! It’s like I don’t even know you anymore! LOL 😂
Haha sorry munchkin! Just gotta look “normal” for the wedding haha
i know this is 3 years old and I'm just coming across this but its recording both cam and game perfectly but the mic audio wont record can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it
Hey aswesome video! How do I add a macro hotkey to my obs for source rec? I can't seem to locate it in obs settings. The other effects I use work great. TBH I haven't added filters in months, so I may have forgotten. This works great though, but atm it records twice and looking to on/off it on the fly
You can use filter hotkeys stated in the following video Timothy! m.ruclips.net/video/3Cp_2zgv5m4/видео.html
Hi there! I just wanted to say that your video/tutorial was awesome.
I'm having a bit of a problem though and I could use some help.
I'm recording from two sources, my camera and my display.
The recording from my display cuts off after 20 minutes,
have you seen this issue before? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Do you think this could be used with replay so just the gameplay is replayed?
Yes as stated in the video it has replay buffer.... my pc couldn’t handle doing 3 recordings at the same time so it crashed LUL!

I like it but mines has audio issue to where it static.
I’d recommend feeding it back in case it is a potential bug!
After finishing the recording, my video file is all green, without any image, just green.
Can you try using the x264 encoder?
You're probably using the NVENC new encoder. Use the old one or X264 for now.
All the support but no answer! Come on Live Do!!!
Can anyone explain to me what this does that obs doesn’t already do?
Or maybe is it so common to want to record multiple sources?
Not sure what you are asking here Gabe. I think I explained it well in the video. It means you can record gameplay etc without overlays and alerts etc
hey how do i do this nested secens?
Maybe you can buy when I tried it crashed
replay buffer not workng for anyone else yet ? its just recording, and or crashing...
I’d recommend feeding it back to exeldro on the GitHub page
@@Andilippi well I did want to make sure i was actually even using it correctly also since you didnt actually show it in use. im like.. hmmm
i just checkmarked the replay buffer button.. told it 15 seconds.. made sure replay buffer was activated.. i made the 'source record' filter active..waited like 3 seconds.. long enough for it to activate i would assume.. and it just recorded for 3 instead
the playback speed on my recorded video through source record is 2x or more faster, that happened to both game capture only and also the webcam.....I'm using x264 encoder for everything I have an 11 gen i7 intel core and no gpu but the cpu can easily handle the load....... any suggestions
That’s a strange one! I’d recommend asking Exeldro on the OBS forums as I’m not too sure on that Ruff!
@@Andilippi is there a video you can show me this on?
Is there an option to record just the audio of a source and not both?
Sadly, it just crashes for me in OBS version 28 & 29
Usin 0.3.1 in OBS
Useing 0.3.2 in OBS 29
I have a find a combo that I can get it to work with.
It worked last week, then when it came to streaming this week I crashed my stream 13 times today…
Played around with it for about three hours after stream. Can’t figure out a single combo to get it to work.
…
I’ve actually run out of tutorials to watch in case somebody else has some insight as to why .
I'm struggling with the replay buffer option. Even if I set it to 5 seconds, the recorded file length will be however long the filter was active. I expect the final video to be 5 seconds - think like a clip of recent play.
You could just use some software like streamerbot or LioranBoard to create a filter toggle on then wait 5 seconds then toggle filter off :)
EXELDRO STRIKES AGAIN!
AS ALWAYS!
What kinda specs do you think you need to pull this off effectively?
im about to try this with my mini pc. my mini pc has a amd 3600 and rtx 3060, im able to multi stream to 6 places and record vertically and horizontally at 5500kbps each for examples sake. all while editing on vegas or after effects.
Were you able to get this installed? I've yet to get it to work
@@rs25games it doesn't work.
Sadly I have no sound at all when trying to use this
Maybe feed it back to exeldro on the forum or GitHub?
@@Andilippi I have but he was more to the dismissive side. I ended up coding up own program that works alongside source record to add audio. It's a slightly odd workaround, but it works.
I’m confused. What does this do and why is it important?
Here I been trying to setup 2 more instances of obs to record two scenes while streaming and then this happens 😀
The plugin God must have known you struggling ;)
"Now its recording, just the gameplay" except.. its not *just the gameplay*, its the gameplay, and your webcam, and the alerts. But im assuming you can actually ONLY record the gameplay and your webcam, and cut out the alerts.
It can record a source separately from the stream or main recording so it will be separate :)
@@Andilippi It's not. It's still recording all of the audio and the webcam for me too. The whole main reason for this plugin isn't working?
My sources and scenes don't record unless I set them to always :(
Just leave them on always and just turn the filter visibility on when you want to record and off when you don’t :)
Now im wondering if there is a source stream plugin 🤣😅
Loved.
Cheers Como! Appreciate it buddy!
Me watching this video: Ehhh decent feature but not super useful for me personally.
Me like 5 seconds later: Awww shit he's playing Final Fantasy 7.... OK I'll watch the whole video just for that lol
Hahaha aww thanks man! Yeah I’ve been super loving learning to speedrun it! My next run is this Thursday on Twitch! Hopefully complete my first ever run!
hello I DO NOT KNOW ENGLISH WELL I do everything as in the video but it does not work (((
Have you tried feeding it back as a bug on the githubv
love the info on this video, but the screen constantly following your mouse is literally makin me dizzy lol. i know its an older video but ya
Shit hardly ever works for me 🙄 only works when it wants to... Plus, when it does work, there is no audio....
That’s strange dude! Do you have any crash logs? Feel free to share them in the OBS forum post!
🤩🤩🤩
I nearly fell out of my chair when I found out lol!
Does not work for me
it keeps crashing.. and then if not always crashing when it works it just randomly removes itself from my files every once a while. lame ass plugin
"I'm getting married" - me: Oh... so am I!
"I got a new keyboard" - me: Uhh... So did I? The f is going on here?
