I cannot fathom the effort of just living in the wild like this, but to also journal it all by video and share with all of us…. This is truly painstaking work, and can only be accomplished by a very dedicated, very determined and very skilled individual. I look forward to each new episode.
lot of work sure but I do enjoy the filming aspect so it makes it a little less of a pain. also it keeps me so busy that it fends of the feelings of being lonely
Awesome episode! You are thriving with all that good but I wonder why do you think you were feeling weak at the end. Maybe just due to sheer exhaustion from working so much?
So nice to see your location from a higher vantage point - looks like you're on a peninsula. Also, as you were cleaning fish, it looks like a structure, or two, across the water?? You are thriving with great food - berries, birds, fish - wonderful. Hope that cabin gets built before it gets too cold. Always a great video. Just love them all. Blessings
@Indigo Love - I went back to check it out and I see 4-5. Then it occurred to me the area is hilly and the caribou moss is the same colour as those 'possible' hunting cabins so now I'm hoping Matty will reply and confirm what they are. There are some that cannot be caribou moss on hills.
yes the cabin is situated on the south shore of a peninsula, the fishing spot is on the north side. The nearest cabins that I came across was back at the outpost where the plan lands. I have been told there are a couple other areas on that lake with a few hunting camps but I didn't see any.
"it's out a quarter boat length" hahahah...Great episode, look forward to the next one....I am surprised you don't have 100k + views...Ill keep sharing
Un-freaking real! The amount of energy you must consume on bringing this incredible footage to us does not go unappreciated. Thank you very much. The amazing haul of sustenance on the beach was eye popping and then you pan over to ALL the equipment used to capture this and it slam's home what it takes. Yes, I understand you set up cameras and edit and upload but shit trying to survive and make a solid go in the bush. Like I said to start, un-freaking real man.
You doing great! 😇 love your videos and the nature is pretty ❤️ the efforts you’re putting in your videos is just so much appreciated 😇 all these filming by yourself huge respect to you
Hey Matty, another great episode ! you're killing it man ! Can't wait to see the Cabin. I was wondering about your canvas pouches, I'm looking for something a little more rugged to bring with me on the ATV, was wondering where you got yours at? Cheers my friend !
hey man glad your still following along. Yes those canvas pouches are mint man. Dj actually makes those, and also the saw that you see being used all the time in this series. His website is. bearessentialsoutdoors.ca

Yes sir it did, good memory on ya! In Labrador the way it was going I could tell it was going to be freeze up by the time I was ready to properly chink the cabin. So even tho its not what I would like to do normally..laying moss between logs as I build, it ended up being beneficial to have it roughly air tight right out of the gate. I wouldn't advise this technique for a cabin you want to keep for 50 years, proper way is finish building then chink from outside and then again from the inside packing the jam tight.
@@skoteoutdoors My mother has a house on the mountains of Serra do Cipó here in Minas Gerais, Brazil. It's a little bit different because of the cerrado biome here, and I don't have any knowledge of real life survival. I really look forward to trying it someday! Thanks for the inspiration.
yes Matt Marsh has it right. The fox incident went down a few days after doing that moss. Somethings are a little out of order just to try and make each ep flow a better.. in the future plan on sharing a full hour and half video following along day by day for the people that really like to nerd out on that stuff. there is soooo much that was left out of these so far
well glad to hear that! thanks for sticking around, appreciate your support. I have been back there since the last time you see it on RUclips. Soon will be sharing some videos from last winter up there.

Just a quick question Matty. Did your experience in the Yukon have anything to do with you pulling that moss for the cabin early? Lol
Great work buddy. Did you bring salt?
You found your gloves after the fox took them?
Was wondering about that myself. Maybe stuff was edited out of order or he found them. Either way….great videos!!

I see you got your glove back which the fox stole. How did you find it?
I found one glove by luck. But eventually both of my leather work gloves were stolen and all I was left with was those thin liners
Been following you for several years. Curious what happened to the last cabin build and why you moved on.
