    "Massive, TSW 20-inch wheels" that use 235/40/R18 tires.
    ... That sums up this video.

    15k for a Shelby ST or 500 for a COBB access tuner and 600ish for an exhaust? I think I would go the second route. Granted you would have to spend a little more if you wanted the better tires, brakes and suspension. But it still isn't coming anywhere close to an added 15k.

  • @Baasicstuff
    @Baasicstuff 10 лет назад

    26K for a Focus ST3 out the door thats taxes and everything, granted I kept telling them I think I will wait until Oct for the 2015's. Ive made a couple car payments in my lifetime and 26k is nothing 30k and above your getting into race car land. Its nice, I had a sup up Abarth that thing was an animal until a bus ran me over. The ST handles so well even in 6th gear you can have fun, the turning is so flat; a much better designed car without the drama of the Abarth and other thrown together hothatches. Just starting conversation

    15k extra?!?! Just like most Shelby fords...overrated. Better power style and handling can be obtained cheaper. COBB/STEEDA/MOUNTUNE... way better results. COBB stage 3 alone is a hair over 3k and you will get a little better results than that. And it won't have the dumb Shelby taxi look. You can even go stage 3, new clutch, fuel injectors, bigger turbo, few other parts and a pro tune and still be under 10k.

    Carroll Shelby did tune up some Chrysler vehicles. Like the Dakota, but there is a reason he stopped. He was a Ford guy to the end literally. The testament to that is the Cobra's that are still being manufactured by Shelby American. By the way Chrysler got saved by Fiat. So truth be told. The Europeans had to reinvent the brand in order to have gain the success they have today. Don't get me wrong, those cars are beast like the Hellcat that is producing 700+hp. But again Fiat put their driving force into Chrysler to finally update them to the 21st century.

    Looks alright, hate the mis matched hood color. Gives that rice look. Those hood vents probably go no where and provide nothing too. This is essentially a 15k appearance package.

    I don't understand why Ford wouldn't make a vehicle like this in AWD.

    • @FastRedPonyCar
      @FastRedPonyCar 9 лет назад

      they DO, we just don't get it in the US. it's called the RS model but luckily, it's rumored that ford will be giving the focus here in the US the AWD treatment as well as the 2.3L ecoboost currently in the new mustang. If it happens, it's going to shut down the entire hot hatch market.

    • @myfakeevo
      @myfakeevo 9 лет назад

      FastRedPonyCar actually in europe its still fwd it uses a rev knuckle design which stabilizes the car even more. this is the first year that the rs will be awd

      crzzymnn911 In the New York International Auto Show they debuted the American Ford Focus RS. It is in fact AWD and will be putting down 310+ hp. Look it up. It's an amazing looking car.

    This dude just said that the Shelby Focus ST and the Subaru STi are basically the same car? Smoke crack much? Also, Cobb Stage 3 is a little over 3k for the same power..

    • @doublexero
      @doublexero 10 лет назад +1

      No, he said at the core, they're basically the same kind of "animal". Meaning that deep down, they have some very close similarities. Both have 4 cylinder turbocharged engines, both have 4 doors. They're both typically purchased by the "same" type of people.

  • @dragonballz768
    @dragonballz768 10 лет назад +4

    If this is going to be a Shelby Focus ST they really need to do more to the engine and the car itself. Slap an AWD on it, make it a twin turbo 4 with around 400 hp and make it much more aggressive than it already is. That's my opinion for this car. But I still like it ill-regardless :)

    • @Golgi-Gyges
      @Golgi-Gyges 10 лет назад

      "Slap AWD on it and 400 HP", huh? And how much would that cost.....?

    • @dragonballz768
      @dragonballz768 10 лет назад +1

      38 would be good if it had that standard on a limited Shelby Focus. Why would someone pay 38 grand for better looks and a pathetic hp raise of only 30 at most even if it is limited? At least sup it up a little more.

    • @Golgi-Gyges

    I think Shelby fell down and bumped his head. A bunch of decals, some cheap imitation carbon fiber and an exhaust system for $15,000? You could damn near buy the entire Cobb catalogue for less than that?! These ppl are on crack! And by the way, those are 18" wheels, not 20's. You are obviously just a talking head and have no idea what you're even reviewing.

  • @noboy345

  • @09BertoSS

    Not worth it, the car can reach that same hp with after market parts and still have tons of money to play around with

  • @Joey_Avocado
    @Joey_Avocado 10 лет назад

    38,500!!!! for ONLY a 10hp gain with a bunch of CF bits, shelby logo, so-so exhaust, CAI(that does nothing even tuned, the stock intake is fine), and wheels
    nope, nope, nope
    why cant reviewers not be full of shit and simply speak the truth? oh because no one will give them products to test because they call it how they see it!

  • @hoopla175
    @hoopla175 11 лет назад

    Agreed. Not sure why he's trying to convince us that this car is a good (or even decent) value. The main argument is that it's a tiny bit cheaper than the Golf R. C'mon! The Golf R has to be one of the worst deals in the enthusiast car field. Sure you get some exclusivity, but that exclusivity is not worth $38k. Mustang GT and STI are just two of many examples of cars that offer more value for the money.

  • @obfuscator
    @obfuscator 11 лет назад

    WRX because it's simply better daily driver. Which what this car does the best. Sti when being way too expensive for DD is too stiff and has components required for more track oriented use. With Focus Shelby it's weird - one who can afford it most likely rocking GT500 or similar. And rest of more younger demographic would be happy with base ST and have fun gradually modifying it if required. Hence Shelby is just weird product in my eyes. Review is great. See you around Ortega ;)

  • @obfuscator
    @obfuscator 11 лет назад

    I understand. So let's take a look for a sake of comparison. Suspension - what exactly is different between stock ST and Shelby? Brakes - taking ave price of Stoptech BBK set ~3 to 4k four corners. Or go with exactly the same Wilwoods. Wheels/tires - well this is bolt on and if you track your car you most likely end up with set of rpf1s and super sticky tires in smaller sizes due to cost etc. Hence stock ST package makes sense when Shelby makes little to none given the package price.

  • @travislouisseize7755
    @travislouisseize7755 8 лет назад

    LOL for 15k i could get an atp turbo kit, FMIC, lightweight crank pulley, CA, 3" catback, 3" downpipe, tune, short shifter kit, big brake kit, front strut bar etc and be making at least 400whp... and no fake carbonfiber

  • @ericenglebert8992
    @ericenglebert8992 7 лет назад

    I spent about 6K and did a turbo upgrade, fmic, cat back, down pipe, cold pipe, hot pipe, blow off valve, Cobb accessport, rear, passenger & driver motor mount, cold air intake and would blow the doors off this thing. What a rip off Shelby. A couple of carbon fiber bits, a few stickers and a mild tune for 15K. I guess there are 500 suckers out there

  • @lan00b
    @lan00b 11 лет назад

    Exhaust 700 ish. downpipe call it 300-400 ish
    Cobb Accessport 500-600 ish
    Intake+inlet pipe 300 ish
    Brakes 2000 ish
    Suspension 1300 coils
    You can get a lot better of a car still do all the upgrades and maybe go up a size on the turbo. 15000 extra is insane.

  • @Ford_Raptor_R_720hp_V8
    @Ford_Raptor_R_720hp_V8 11 лет назад

    The WRX is noisy, runs rough, gets poor gas mileage, has crude cabin tech, has poor reliability, is ugly, has poor resale value, but other than that it's a great car.
    I'd rather have a Mustang GT than an STI, the STI has huge turbo lag, aka complete lack of bottom end power.

  • @greebuh
    @greebuh 10 лет назад

    That is very fake carbon fiber under the hood. For 15k that is just unacceptable. Not only that but the COBB Tuning Focus ST is much better and sounds way nicer for way less money. This version of the ST is junk.

  • @p4horror
    @p4horror 8 лет назад

    Maybe if the idiots at Shelby didn't rice out this ST, this video wouldn't have had so many thumbs down. I love the Focus ST but this one looks hideous. I don't give two squirts if it goes 1000mph, it looks fucking gay.

  • @obfuscator
    @obfuscator 11 лет назад

    I think potential buyer would want to modify stock ST. For much less $ too. It won't look rice with black hood and other bits. Also I'd rather have base WRX any day over what? Sync and short shifter.. really?

  • @JeffGlucker
    @JeffGlucker 11 лет назад

    I have to disagree on the blending in part... bright yellow paint and black trim bits aren't exactly subtle.
    I am very open, however, to the idea of a debate on the price point and what it gets you. I think you have to factor in a bit of the exclusivity what with this being a 500-unit run.
    Yes, that means you have to be a massive fan of the Shelby brand of course... but you can't rule out the limited run even if you're not.
    Still... there is more fun for less out there. I agree.

  • @typhoon5000
    @typhoon5000 11 лет назад

    So I wonder how much you'd save by just buying all of the parts on your own from Borla, Steeda, Ford Racing, etc and installing them yourself and skipping the Shelby name? Probably like $10k! LOL. Yea, it's a limited edition, but I'd rather customize it myself so that it is 1 of 1, not of 500 prebought. BTW, where's the CAI you speak of? It looks like the factory airbox with a faux carbon fiber wrap on it to me.

  • @lahire149
    @lahire149 11 лет назад

    I think your BBK estimate is pretty low; Brembo's run $3k per pair, and you still have to consider install cost so that lowers the price gap . But yes, tuning yourself is much better than this.

  • @carbonemtree
    @carbonemtree 11 лет назад

    Its sad how cars have truly become a marketing scheme. Seriously if shelby were alive he would spit on this car. Its a shame. Also. Is fucking stupid. Get a chip tune on the regular focus for 500$ and have the same power....38000 for this omg...FF layout is shit. All you can is go straight. No snow fun no rain run. No corner fun.

  • @MikeFigueira
    @MikeFigueira 11 лет назад

    The car your talking about does not have 20's on it...you should do your research or at least look down before you talk specs. That car does have TSW's but they are 18's

  • @JeffGlucker
    @JeffGlucker 11 лет назад

    It's far more than Sync and a short shifter. It's suspension, brakes, wheels, tires, and a bit more.
    A base WRX? Why? That's a heavier 265 hp car... if you're going to compare, go with the STI.

    You can do all of this for much cheaper yourself. You can even get more power for less money by purchasing a Mazda Speed3, and mod it for over 300+ whp for less money. Beautiful car, but the 2.0 liter with a small turbo really limits what can be done aftermarket, Either way, Shelby will just take your money. Do it yourself.

      @Golgi-Gyges 10 лет назад +1

      Or take a regular Ford Focus ST and spend a similar amount ot money and make it better...... Have you realized that the Mazda 3s are based on the Ford Focus? Research your ideas, sir.

    • @AlexTheGreat89
      @AlexTheGreat89 10 лет назад

      You sir need the research! The ST's lack of a mechanical LSD, its smaller K03 turbo and its relatively weak clutch/tranny limit the headroom you'll get when modding. Yea sure you can make it fast with 3k invested, but the speed3 can be had for less and have far more hp/tq gains with 3k worth of mods. Not to mention the speed platform has been around a lot longer, offering more aftermarket parts/dealers.
      My "opinions" are researched. Are yours?

    • @Golgi-Gyges
      @Golgi-Gyges 10 лет назад

      AlexTheGreat89 The "3" has always been based on the Focus platform and so have many Mazda vehicles. Ford (engineering) designs. Are you telling me that the # has a different transmission that the ST? Regardless, if you wanted sheer hp, you wouldn't buy either car, There are several cheaper cars that make more power. Also, you totally missed my point.

    • @Golgi-Gyges
      @Golgi-Gyges 10 лет назад

      Glenn Pady And this wasn't about the 3 versus the ST.....A shelby ST, 'remember?

    • @AlexTheGreat89
      @AlexTheGreat89 10 лет назад

      You missed MY point. The speed3 is one of the best bang for your buck performance cars you can buy new. I was merely saying that during this whole video review there was no mention of the mazda. I am quite aware of fords past part ownership of mazda. That is not the case nowadays. And yes, the speed3's clutch/flywheel/tranny is different than the st's. I would love to hear of a new car under 23k new that makes more torque and hp than the speed3 by the way.Stock for stock.
      I'm also aware this isn't about the ST vs the speed3 or the shelby ST vs anything. If you don't like my opinion, move on! This particular ST is a giant waste of money, and I think most here would agree.
