  • Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, member of the House of Lords, spoke on Sky News about recent Unrwa allegations. She stressed the need to continue aid efforts in Gaza despite accusations against Unrwa staff members.
Meanwhile, Unrwa's commissioner general, Philippe Lazzarini, told Financial Times that Israel has not provided evidence for the accusations, and investigations are ongoing. The Financial Times also stated that it had seen the intelligence assessment which provided no evidence for the claims, which include an accusation that a staff member kidnapped a woman.

You don’t need to look far for links between the United Nations Relief and Works Agency and Hamas.
On the day of the October 7 massacre, Sara A-Dirawi, an UNRWA teacher in Gaza, took to Facebook to publish a video clip of Hamas fighters shooting up Israeli cars. She added a verse from the Quran, suggesting the terrorists were on a mission from God: “For we will surely come to them with soldiers that they will be powerless to encounter, and we will surely expel them therefrom in humiliation, and they will be debased.”
This is not an isolated example. Ever since Hamas was elected to power in Gaza in 2006, the UN agency has been forced to work cheek by jowl with the terrorist group. As such, says Israel, a “mutual dependence” has grown up between them.
“The rule of the terrorist organisation over the Gaza Strip forces UNRWA to act under the authorization and supervision of Hamas in a way that extends Hamas’s influence over the agency,” an Israeli official told The Telegraph.
This dynamic is evident in Hamas’s most senior appointments. For example, Suhail al-Hindi, who was elected to the Hamas Politburo in 2017 to sit alongside Yahya Sinwar, Hamas’s leader in Gaza and the author of the October 7 attack, was a headmaster at an UNRWA school and chairman of the UNRWA Gaza workers’ union.
Hamas’ economy minister Jawad Abu Shamala, killed just three days after the October 7 massacre in an Israeli airstrike, had a similar pedigree. He “earmarked the funds for financing and directing terrorism inside and outside the Gaza Strip”, says the IDF, but previously worked as a teacher at an UNRWA school in Khan Yunis.
Political support is one thing, direct involvement in terrorism another.

I have a great deal of respect for Baroness Warsi. I think she gave a very measured and even handed response to whatever question was asked. However, these allegations against UNRWA are exactly that; allegations. Extensive investigations into any allegations should have been undertaken to determine the veracity of Israel’s claims; these employees should not have been summarily dismissed without any evidence. I’m very pleased that Baroness Warsi spoke in an unbiased way about the consequences of cutting funding to UNRWA, although she didn’t say which Nation States had cut their funding, Australia and the UK being two of them. This action to discredit UNRWA is causing unprecedented and unparalleled suffering to the Palestinian people.

The key to good disinformation is not actually lying or exaggerating. It's to only tell the part of the truth that makes you look good and the enemy bad.
Gaza under Hamas was not a free society. In unfree societies, joining the ruling party is usually a prerequisite to gain any position or job with much responsibility. In China, people usually join the Communist Party as a career move. So there were going to be Hamas assets in any organization as important as UNRWA.
This does NOT mean that all, or even a small fraction, of Hamas members working for UNRWA were directly involved in the events of October 7 or ever knowingly harmed a living soul, Arab or Jewish. I wouldn't call any such member a liar if he told me that he supported Palestinian freedom, of course, but was much less genuinely committed to the goals of the "Islamic Resistance Movement" as such. Far more important was getting his family fed and giving them as good a life as he could in Gaza.
I happen to have this context because my wife is the daughter of people who grew up in an unfree society. The Israelis knew, or should have known, that people living in most free countries wouldn't have context like this, and would overreact to the news that, why yes, there were Hamas members working for UNRWA.

My country are a major funder, I saw we spent 60 billions on UNWRA. And we are a major donor to other UN organisations as well. This means that when I work and earn money everyday, a part of my working time goes to fund help to people in need. I do not want to spend that on supporting terrorism especially while all thoose rich arab staes sits on their fat asses contributing with nothing but complaints.

I don't think it's bs that Chamas was so intimately involved with UNRWA.
Evidence forthcoming from the IDF as it always is.

Not 12 individuals as that’s just the tip of the iceberg. This organisation and UN is not fit for purpose and should be dismantled. Warsi isn’t liked in the U.K. and has made many mistakes by shouting her mouth off. Anyone who thinks a rock can speak and forgive sins is off their rocker 😅
