The older machine tools are still doing what they were meant to do. The last time I was in the shop in the Delaware City Refinery, they still had their machine tools that were from the 40s. They always had good success with their older machines. I have seen it in person over the years there. Now I have to agree with you on the flip flops I don't know how these guys can stand it. The cuttings gettingy between your foot and the sole would cut the feet badly. Anybody who's ever run or been around these machines knows how bad the chips can be usually they fly in to your shirt collar.
I used the same Webster Bennett lathe during the 80s and 90s. They are a good machine, i used to do work for Rolls Royce engines and Boeing aerospace on one, so with all the right tooling they are a capable machine!
Full compliments must be given for the finished project but, me oh my dear oh dear best not talk about work safe conditions its so unbelievable to see there are none..I`m amazed there are no serious accidents.
😂l cannot comprehend as to their regard to safety, the conditions that they work in, the state of the workshop floor, l can go on for ever, man this is sacralized to engineering. I wonder how they would react to being introduced to an organized modern workshop? Poor artisans they are expected to produce the goods and somehow achieve it! Amazing!!!!
It's understandable! Working with a VTL can indeed be quite intimidating due to its size and power. Manual lathes offer a different kind of control and precision, especially for intricate components like valves and couplings. It's all about finding what works best for you and your comfort level in the workshop. Thanks for sharing your perspective! 🛠️👍
I hope all those spinners still have their eyes, fingers and feet. God bless these colleagues! 😘
These guys are great! They do good work with the facilities they have.
Unbeleavable great set up and job ending . The man knows his machine.
Awesome job!👏👏
Hello fellow drivers.
Wishing you all good health, peace and happiness
Good Health? In a shop like that?
good job
Amazing video brother ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks ✌️
Impressive work considering the super outdated machinery. But all that metal shave and open toes flip-flops ........ that's scary !!!

the old Webster Bennets were great machine tools but without a guard, accident waiting to happen.
Respect! 💪

Lacking money due to globalization capitalism. 😮
So you sell PPE and safety equipment do you ?
Not sure where you going with this beakytwitch but who ever owns this business has no respect for his workers well being
I would like to see the Jaguar production facility.
If you are machining the ID for a bushing then indicate the ID and not the OD of the flange.
I think they are use the out side of the flange just to keep place so they can get the out side of the insert.
The rookie had to do the job While the last guy who did it is now called stumpy.
grumpy stumpy haha
I’m not clear what will keep the sleeve from walking out. There should have been a counterbore for a flange on the sleeve.
Like the steel capped safety sandals...🧐🧐
😂
meh they got 10 toes... I'm more impressed with the safety squint :)
Maşallah
I can imagine it’s all guys watching these videos…. No, drama! 😂
😘😘😘😍😍😍❤❤❤
Impressive
looks like most have got all toes and fingers.i wonder if that taperlock will get a lock washer.
thres no way that stays on the shaft ...the sleeve will be pulled out when the nut is tightened.. unless there was a taper in the bore.
It's a wounder how they still have feet working in sandels' and working in a foundry bare foot.
Thr is no secret... they have metal feet.
What is with the offset of the keyway??😮
it spun in the hole when he tried to machine it flush lmao.. I mean pretty obvious considering they threw it in there and that was the "press fit"
There’s got to be 10 thousand dollars worth of scrap and chips in the damn floor, where’s the clean up crew?
I never wanted to work a VTL...looked very dangerous to me. I preferred manual lathes for making valves, couplings, pipe components.

No material composition, specs quality control, safety measures no injury/ death compensation.

I hope those men don’t get their dresses caught in the machines.
Ist nicht schade drumm.
No gloves no safety glasses no closed toe shoes no healthcare
Sacraip k chakar mai bhai sahib ne capleen ka wate hi adha ker dia
Murks☹️
That's a very loose fit on that small sleeve
Whats the big deal,,,he took a rough casting..and finished it out ...??
No castings, all steel plate.
So many cringe moments
What type of machine of that.
