Having just visited Linlithgow palace last Wednesday I shall have to follow up your on recommendations for the plaque. Love learning about the history of Edinburgh.
When in Edinburgh, I always stay in Leith - it has great atmosphere, some wonderful cafées and is super close, to Edinburgh Center. hello from Denmark 🌸
Interesting video. We are good in Edinburgh at marking famous figures and events with simple easily missed plaques for example the grave of John Knox is marked by a plaque in the car park in Parliament square .When I first went to check it out there was a car parked over it,
Just home yesterday from another super Trip (and weather) in Edinburgh. Didn't get to Leith this time. But knew nothing about these Plaques! Thanks, my Friend. PS There was no sign of Big Davy the Piper, this time. I hope he's well? Thanks again, Tony. And your well behaved, Sidekick on wheels...lol.
There used to be a carved stone lintel just at the back of the plaque on the opposite side commemorating Mary Queen of Scots landing in Scotland . I think its now in the Royal museum of Scotland . She also visited Lambs house .
I lived in Edinburgh for a year. I visited Glasgow once. Totally different places!!! Glasgow had bagpipe players out there... I went to a few shops and went to lunch... But it was a totally different atmosphere !!
The Persevere bar at the foot of Easter Rd has these old mosaics on the walls depicting the royal landing at Leith. Perhaps you should pop in for a pint for research purposes!
In all your excellent videos you have not pointed out or explained the Nova Scotia Canada plaque on the low wall in the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle.🏴🇨🇦
They actually never united the Crowns as they couldn't. The Scottish crown is still there and the English King can not touch them without saying the full entitlement speech. If he did, he would become the people of Scotland's equal and we can get rid of him. Still fact...
